francisco and overnight, we lost a degree. half moon bay but we're warmer. the forecast is key from the coastal clouds and breezy onshore flow that will keep the sea breeze but we'll see warmer temperatures inland. i'll have the temperatures and a look at the week ahead coming up. >> thank you. traffic reporter frances ross is in to help us get around the doyle drive project. people have been getting snarled into the defurious. >> it depends which detour you take and the time of day. a live shot of the golden gauge bridge. traffic very light in and out of stance and if you want to take the other detour, the richmond san rafael bridge to bay bridge, it's light but it's probably going to get busy right before the giants game as well this afternoon. so keep that in mind. you may want to consider bart,

if you're travel in and out of the east bay. a live shot of 101 shows light traffic. notice the lighted signs warning drivers of the doyle drive closure and giving an alternate route head to the san rafael bridge. to help decide what detour is best, use abc7's exclusive ways traffic app to check out speeds for the detours. there's a abc7 traffic spotter heading towards the bay bridge. they're moving right along. we have sergeant t at 40 miles an hour heading to the richmond san rafael bridge. it gives you street level speeds as well. so that helps you decide if park presidio, marina boulevard would be a better option for you. >> as far as the project is concerned, so far so good. dozens of asphalts trucks will

move in to lay down the roadway. the doyle project has been moving at a feverish pace since it began friday night. we have a report from the demolition zone. >> reporter: each section of doyle drive is taking about a half hour to demolish. this roadway leading to the golden gate bridge built in 1936 was weakened by the quake and in hours will be history. paul glennen is here recording the activity with his ipad. >> for posterity, for my grandkids. i work here and live just up the street. i want to see what all the noise is about. >> many are here to see the sections fall to the ground after being jack hammered and pounded. the amazed look on this girl's face is a feeling shared by many onlookers. from sky 7, the remains look like the skeleton of a prehistoric creature.

heavy equipment looking like crab feeding on what is left. >> this is history in the making and i wonder what it will look like when it's all done. >> we're all still trying to figure out which piece is going to can accoun connect to what. >> this is animation of the temporary roadway. monday morning, marin commuters entering the city will pass through the tunnel in crissy field and on to the paved roadway that replaces doyle drive. dave pang is project construction manager. >> our areas are on schedule. we're looking good for monday. >> he says this type of work has never been done before. the demolition is taking place in six areas simultaneously. asphalt is down on the lumbard approach and a concrete divider almost finished. concrete and steel will be recycled. that haven't been any real hitches.

ferry service is going to be expanded again today as the doyle drive demolition continues. right now there are double the number of ferries between marin county and the city. the last one to leave san francisco today will be at 8:40 p.m. one of the most popular is the route to at&t park for the giants game but it's sold out. if you have to drive across the golden gate bridge, caltrans recommends park presidio boulevard. some drivers who too marina boulevard got stuck in traffic yesterday. >> another 10 or 15 minutes. >> we're tourists so we just came to see it. >> it's on the news but. >> we forgot. >> this is slow. just got to bring a lot of patience. i knew this was going to be like this. >> a lot of people are heeding the warning. they're avoiding the situation all together.

caltrans reports a 50% drop in yesterday's southbound traffic coming into the city from marin county. abc7 news will have updates on the progress of the construction project and the detours until the work is finished. you can get an instant notice when the road reopens via twitter, facebook and text alerts. we have our exclusive ways app to help you navigate around it all. a massive general strike tuesday may not include an attempt to shut down the golden gate bridge after all. the sa san jose news reports they've agreed to keep off the bridge during tuesday's mayday protest but the massive general strike is expected to hit the port of oakland as planned. it's part of a show of unity between union and nonunion members without a contract. a teenager is dead after shot at an elementary school

campus. police found the 18-year-old -- let's switch stories. this one is where they released the names and pictures of suspects in a stabbing death that led to a nine hour standoff with police. you're looking at jonathan alexander bess and his brother, brian bess, both said to be transients, wanted for murder. they're at large. friday a 51-year-old man was found outside a house on cleveland avenue. he later died from his injuries. in japan this morning, a bus carrying dozens of vacationers to tokyo disneyland crashed killing seven passengers. police say the other 38 passengers and 43-year-old driver were injured. it happened on a highway north of tokyo. the bus crashed into a roadside wall. authorities say all the passengers are believed to be japanese nationals. mostly young adults. the cause of the accident is under investigation.

and another yacht race disaster. three crew members was the a sailboat called the aegean are dead, a forth missing off the coast of mexico. it's part of the new port to ins nada yacht race. the are coast guard is searching for the missing crew member. the bay area yachting community came together to remember one of the victims. deadly yacht crash here this month. he will more morrissey was a visiting scientist from ireland who worked as lawrence berkeley national lab. a memorial was at st. mary magdalene church. >> he was an extremely talented and extremely promising young scientist and his lose is immeasurable. >> morrissey is one of five crew members who died april 14 during a race when waves overtook their boat crashing it into the

home. investigator are treating her disappearance as an abduction. >> a huge crowd jammed into the san francisco civic center to talk about senior healthcare. focusing on a bill offering better care for california's aging population. >> if it doesn't go through we're going to see costs rise for the state, of course, if our clients have to go into nursing homes. what it going to happen is their dignity will be lost, their ability to stay in their home and live out their life in the comfort of their home with a care provider supporting their needs. >> statewide, 400,000 seniors and people with disabilities count on a support service program to live independently in their homes. the state lottery computer system is down statewide this morning for scheduled maintenance. if all goes as planned, players will be able to start buying lottery tickets at 11:00 this

well? this is a live view of the bridge now as people very few there so easily making their way on and off the span. you know that doyle drive demolition project is underway. we'll bring you the latest in just a few minutes. investigators will be back at it today in st. louis looking into the collapse of a beer tent that killed one person. it was filled with 200 st. louis cardinals fans. it happened yesterday during a sudden storm outside a bar near busch stadium. city officials say 50 miles an hour winds lifted the tent up about 100 feet shattering its aluminum frame. lightning also struck around the same time. one person died, 17 have been hospitalized. about 100 people were treated for minor scrapes and bruises at the scene. firefighters couldn't confirm what caused the fatality. the owner of the beer pub says

it was lightning, not flying debris that killed the man. our meteorologist is here to talk about much calmer weather. >> we just have some coastal sea breeze out there and low clouds that really form interesting formation. this picture is from the east bay camera. nice and clear. a beautiful shot but there's some fog out there. in fact it's hugging the headlands, not quite over the golden gate bridge but westerly winds make for a breezy day at the coast. around the bay should be a nice afternoon. 55 in redwood city. fremont, 52. cool in napa at 47. the visibility is reduced with the low clouds and fog. less than 5 miles now and the fog is traveling northward all the way into the headlands. watch out if you're headed for a like ride along the shoreline.

fog will be staying at the coast, so it will be breezy and gray here with cooler temperatures and we will see more sunshine for that opening day on the bay which features a lot of boats and a lot of traffic on the bay and a cooler pattern beginning tomorrow, especially into tuesday. here's the look at our water vapor imaginary. high pressure in control holding the storm track to the north and west but a series of systems will knock down this ridge and whether or not we see rain by the end of the week is the big question because the first system will move our way tomorrow. today we're still looking at high pressure allowing for more sunshine and temperatures staying above normal with those winds just at the coast. but as a weak system heads in from the north and west, we will look for breezier winds and a cooler air mass. today, more sunshine at at&t park. temperatures in the 60s, so should be a nice afternoon.

breezing towards the end of the day and the fog will move back over the bay overnight and lead into some of our cooling as we start the week tomorrow. as for today, we're looking at a nice day, north to south with 85 in chico, sacrament. mid 60s around san diego and fog from san louis abyss bow and around salinas and monterey. al home, 75 in -- 77 in cooper tina with mid 70s from sunnyville. not a lot of change. a little bit more fog, a little bit more in the way of a breezy northwest wind. san francisco, upper 60s, 62 in the sunset. a little bit above average with 59 along the bay. gusty winds so small-craft advisory outside the bay, 74

welcome back everyone. in just a few hours a piece of san francisco history will be history. doyle drive, a main roadway on to the golden gate bridge is about gone. this morning dozens of trucks will move in to start laying down the new roadway. crews have been at it nonstop since 8:00 on friday night. here's animation of what the new temporary roadway will look like for the next three years. tomorrow morning commuters entering the city will pass through the tunnel in crissy field and on to the paveed roadway that replaces the doyle drive. the worker has been an attraction all weekend long. >> it's history in the making

>> because so many people took the ferry and lots of people waited for the last run at 10:30 operators had two boats ready and with double the number of ferries between marin county and san francisco through the day, regular ferry riders like scott felt the squeeze. >> was it more packed than usual? >> sure. a lot more bike riders than i expected. >> one of the most popular ferries was the route to at&t park for the giants game. it is sold out through the weekend. >> what is what traffic looked like over the golden gate bridge saturday afternoon. according to the highway and transportation district, they saw a 50% drop in vehicle traffic and they're hoping for the same through the rest of the weekend. for those who insisted on driving over the golden gate, one popular alternate route through crissy field got gummed up. >> we've been sitting here 10 minutes. it look like another 10, 5 minutes to get a block. >> it's just slow. you got to bring a lot of patience. i knew this was going to be like

you can see a woman walking backwards as the officer holds a gun on her and another han cuffs her. police tried to pull her over initially for a carpool lane violation. >> a santa rosa man is in custody after crash during a high-speed chase on highway 101. he lost control on the north exit just before 6 and slammed into a drainage ditch. offenses pulled from the wreckage before the car burst into flames. he's suspected of violating a restraining order in a domestic violence case. a man is dead after a fremont house party turned violent. police found the victim near hyde park drive and yellowstone park drive and pronounced dead around 1:30 this morning. partygoers say he was stabbed. police detained several people

weekend. the news roadway is on the left and the new presidio parkway expected to be completed in three years. lisa argent is here talking about nice weather, i think, on tap. >> yes, we've been watching fog develop around the bay. a shallow enough deck that it won't influence you folks to the east bay or even above the marine layer where we have a warming of the air mass. you can see the towers of the golden gate bridge and low clouds and fog have started out at about 600 feet and risen to 1,000 and the westerly winds will blow throughout the day keeping it pretty cool at the coast and visibility a problem here from half moon bay on south through monterey and salinas but elsewhere, a clear start and fremont, 52, livermore 50, 60

antioch, 53 in san jose and san rafael. a little bit of fog around the bay, subtle changes today and some of them fog stays at the coach. temperatures coming down a few degrees, upper 50s to near 60 at the beaches but right at the bay, a few degrees warmer above that marine influence and that takes us to a nice afternoon for that opening day on the bay. the cooler pattern begins into next week. in fact, the temperatures slowly coming down on through the week. a west wind at 10 to 20 miles an hour today with temperatures in the 60s. looking pretty good right here in san francisco. so our high pressure ridge hanging on and we'll look for a series of weak systems to continue to allow for this ridge to loosen its grip along the eastern pacific. as it does, we'll see those low clouds and fog come back to the bay and a little stronger sea

breeze allowing for temperatures to come down bit by bit every day. in fact, after today, it looks like we're going to see cool temperatures. in fact, numbers around normal or below normal by the middle of the week. this afternoon, count on the sunshine at at&t park with temperatures coming up through the 60s. a nice afternoon, though bring the jacket. it could get breezy. numbers across the state very spring like. quite hot in southern california with 90 in palms springs. 80's in vegas. 70s in the southern sierra. mid and upper 70s here with a warming here. 78 in saratoga. in the peninsula, low to mid 70s. 75 palo alto. san francisco coming in in the upper 60s. more sunshine and the fog here at ocean beach with stinson looking at sunshine with low

well after 20 years of serving up suds on san francisco's embark dario, the gordon busch brewery had the final call at midnight. the lease is up and the building owner will raise rent from $65,000 a month to 80,000. the brewer says it's too expensive to stay. they're still hoping to set up shop as a new bay front location. a critical time for the grapes that will ultimately be picked, crushed and bottled into fine napa valley wine. last year's weather was tough on the vineyards but this year could be different both for the grapes and for the workers who pick them. >> a lot prettier fruits. >> reporter: sometimes being a reporter has perks like get to go taste this 2011 cabernet out
