amy hollyfield is live on the freeway. what is the timeline now? >> reporter: right now they are hoping to open a couple of southbound lanes where i'm standing, hoping to open those two over there within the next few minutes. we'll see if that is going to happen. looks like they have a lot of work to do. it is right here in the middle where the problem exists. here's video with a closer look at the truck. it went over the wall. it is impacting traffic in both directions. they think that northbound is going to be closed longer than the southbound side. this happened 10:00 last night and they are still here because of several obstacles. the truck spilled 100 to 150 gallons of diesel. they've gotten that cleaned up. they were concerned about the chemicals hauled by the truck and the threat they created.

>> they also have two barrels of haz-mat material in the back of that rig. one is lithium, and another barrel of -- both are reactionary with air and water they cause fires. that's why we are staying on the scene. >> reporter: haz-mat team was here the went signed the trailer and determined everything was okay. now they've resolved those two issues they think things should start speeding up. take a look at this live picture of the detour. it is not that bad in the sense that you get off at sunol then get back on. we are watching the cars and trucks do a little merry-go-round. look at the back-up. the problem is there are so many trucks and cars that use 680. in the last few minutes that back-up has gotten worse. we didn't see much of one until the last few minutes.

anticipation of the opening of doyle drive in a few minutes. no problems as you come off the waldo grade. as you approach the maze your alternate all weekend was heavy on the 80 from richmond san rafael bridge 80 westbound on the east shore freeway right now moving nicely. let's take a look at that situation here at doyle drive opening in just a few minutes. we have the problem in pleasanton with the "sig alert" there and in south san francisco another "sig alert". we'll get to that. we'll be checking back on other news. today the man accused of killing seven and wounding three in a shooting rampage at oikos university is scheduled to be in court. 43-year-old one goh has been charged with killing six former classmates and a receptionist a month ago. police say he was angry at school officials for refusing to refund his tuition. he has been on a hunger strike since arrested. officials are monitoring his

condition. this morning, classes for oikos university nursing students are set to resume for the first time at a nearby school. oikos reopened last monday. nursing students say it is too painful to return. six of the seven killed in the april 2nd, shooting were nursing students. unitech in fremont has agreed to allow nursing classes to be held on their campus. grief counselors will be on campus this morning at newark memorial high to help students cope with the death of a star football player. police say the 18-year-old was stabbed at a house party saturday night. witnesses say the water was -- the party was wrapping up when a fight broke out. he was stabbed and died sunday morning. one man is under arrest. police say three juveniles were also taken into custody as accessories. san jose police on the hunt for suspects in the fatal

shooting of a teenager. officers found the 18-year-old victim shot and dying on the campus of lowell elementary late saturday night. earlies to revive the teen failed he died at -- efforts to revive the teen failed and he died at the scene. this was san jose's 12th homicide of the year. family, friends and the san francisco giants will hold a public memorial today for one of the sailors killed in a racing accident near the farallon islands. alexis busch was a former batgirl for the team the first in major legal baseball. she was killed on the yacht. today's memorial begins at 1 p.m.. anyone who wants to attend is asked to enter through the willie mays gate. the coast guard has suspended its search for a missing boater after a yacht race collision off the california/mexico border. three other -- it was taking

part in a race state. it collided with a larger ship. officials say it is possible that the larger ship never saw the yacht. newt gingrich meets behind closed doors today with mitt romney to discuss a possible future role. sources say gingrich will end his bid for the nomination wednesday, not tomorrow as initially expected. the change was made for logistical reasons. abc news has learned gingrich plans to actively support romney and may tend campaign vents. details will be worked out in an undiscloses location. -- did you enjoy the warm weekend? >> beautiful, sunny, blue skies. >> priceless. at the giants' game couldn't ask for anything better. >> i think we should tip mike.

going to be open at 5? it is quiet out here. that does lend itself to the notion which the spokesperson told me they are on schedule to open at 5 a.m.. take a look at this video from sky 7 hd if your commute involves this, here's what need to know. coming from marin, wider lanes coming into the city. also instead of as many pylons there's movable median under the tunnel which authorities say will prevent head-on accidents and they can move it to adjust for traffic. on the other side of the tunnel on the city side, again depending on which way you are coming or going there are going to be new curves in the road. watch those curves and because of those curves the speed limit reduced, 35 miles an hour on the new connector. do know that and everyone just be reminded to slow down and

pg&e is telling customers they have until tomorrow to decide if they want to opt-out of having a smart meter that has created confusion among several who can't afford to do so. pg&e is charging a $75 up-front fee plus $10 per month. after several complaints the utility says may 1st, is not a firm deadline saying customers can opt-out any time. critics have questioned the accuracy and safety of smart meters. the street party that kicks off the pride parade will look different this year.

organizers of pink saturday in the castro say they are replacing the normal dance party with food trucks, celebrating the lgbt community is scheduled for june 23rd. organizers have scaled back after several vents turned violent in -- events have turned violent. in 2010 -- this week lawmakers will hold a hearing that can help students struggling to pay for college. the act will eliminate a billion dollar tax break given to businesses in 2009. the money raised would be used to help subsidize tuition for middle income families whose income exceeds the current cap. supporters say the bill is critical because tuition at cal-state and uc schools three times what it was a decade ago. republicans call it another tax increase and are vowing to block the bill. 4:46. we said caltrans was on track
