18-year-old osana futi was murdered over the the weekend. >> he was planning on walk with us, five weeks. i don't even want to go any more. >> he was supposed to be by my side. >> reporter: the friends met this morning at the memorial site for his best friend they believe this is where futi would want them. they say it feels like what happened to their friend all over again. >> this needs to stop now we don't want anyone else hurt. two deaths enough. one death was enough. this was retaliation or something. it shouldn't have happened. >> reporter: futi was stabbed to death at a party saturday night. police say he was involved in a fistfight when he was killed. officers arrested one 18-year-old on suspicion of murder and three jif miles, a girl and three boy -- three

juveniles, a girl and three boys. >> our faculty meeting this morning i told teachers their main job was to spot suffering and get them to the grieving center. >> reporter: the principal plans to ben the rules regarding shirts like this a tribute to futi known as a talented football player and little friend. >> we tell kids you can't wear t-shirts that are memorial t-shirts that honors the lifestyle. but i knew coming in today there would be lots of those shirts and so we're going to suspend that rule. >> reporter: there's a candlelight vigil scheduled for tonight also plans for a bake sale to raise money to cover the cost of the funeral. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. right now oakland police are trying to determine what led to the murder of a 37-year-old hayward resident. family and friends held a vigil last night in downtown oakland. officers found the victim shot

near 13th and franklin before 6:00 yesterday morning. investigators state victim had been in some sort of verbal altercation before the shooting. people say the victim was a trance are named brandy. police are still -- transgender woman named bran right now oikos nursing students have resumed classes at unitech in fremont. nursing students say it was too painful to return to the school. six of the seven killed were nursing students. the 7th was a receptionist. the man accused in the oikos shootings scheduled to enter a plea a few hours from now. he has been on a hunger strike since his arrest. police say he went to the school looking for revenge because he was angst at school officials for refusing to re-- he was angry at school officials for refusing to

refund his tuition. doyle drive -- this is the highway patrol leading the first cars through. no problems this morning, kind of slow and go 4:45 this morning the speed limit is 35 miles an hour. here's a look at the golden gate bridge clear, no back-up from doyle drive even though it has been slow all morning. katie marzullo is out there with an update on the doyle drive bypass. >> reporter: demolition did finish on time, a little early. traffic was very light this morning as you would expect in the earliest hours. then it did get pretty heavy, for a while in the normal commuting hours. now it is light again as all those drivers cruised past piles of debris that used to be doyle drive. 8 p.m. friday, crews feeded almost every minute of their 57 hour window to tear down

doyle drive. >> weekend was amazing. >> reporter: they did it. the first cars breezed through at 4:45, 15 minutes ahead of schedule. the pace slowed to a crawl as the morning went on. >> this commute has always backed up. the peak period always bogs down. you are coming into city streets with the traffic lights, that is just the way the commute goes. tends to back-up to just behind me. we expect with the new configuration it will take a little while for the first couple of weeks. >> reporter: chp will have extra patrols as drivers get used to the tunnel, new curve in the road and new 35 mile an hour limit. one driver already got a ticket this morning. pedestrians are taking it slow and enjoying the view. one man didn't feel like waiting for his usual shuttle. >> obviously with construction

racing accident near the farallon islands. alexis bush was the first bat girl ever in major league baseball. she met barry bonds at home plate and gave him that high-five after he hit number 500 in 2001. bush was one of five killed when their yacht was hit by a giant wave during a race april 14th. today's memorial begins 1 p.m.. anyone who wants to attend is asked to enter through the whaley mays gate. doors open at 12:30. -- this morning the coast guard suspended its search for a missing boater off the california/mexico border. crews recovered the bodies of three others and debris from the kwhrot it was taking part in a race saturday. it collided with a larger ship. officials say it is possible that larger ship never saw the yacht. searchers say no distress signals were . president obama has a new campaign slogan:

combating terrorism center at west point this week. happening now, construction milestone is being reached showing america is standing tall, literally nearly 11 years after 9/11. the freedom tower built to replace the twin towers has just become the tallest structure in new york city. you can see in this picture crews are right now installing that beam that puts the structure just above the height of the empire state building. t.j. winick reports. >> reporter: a trade center in lower manhattan is rising up once again to grab the tile of new york's tallest building -- the title of new york's tallest building. after six years the skyscraper will today reach 1250 into the air approximately 2 p.m. eastern this afternoon a 100 foot beam will make the unfinished skeleton tall enough to peek over the roof of the observation deck on the empire state building.

here's some incredible video. an octopus in a popular dining spot in the philippines. that's a tin can a non-profit director shot this video of this octopus lugging that tin can along the sea floor. it tried to move away from the close-up shots and finally as you can see it is just stuffing its entire body into the tin can and it is going to cover itself with a shell. >> resourceful. >> where is the window, skylights, come on! >> still that is good, new respect for the octopus. >> incredible. if you've got a window view, greater skies sun and clouds start to come people >> they went away temporarily they are going to come back
