thomas. and i'm kristen sze. a marijuana set-up fueled a fire last night. so intense neighbors could feel the heat from the middle of the street. it started 8:00 last night and burned more than an hour spreading to electrical wires and shutting off power. nine people had been living in the home, including one child. a person suffered from smoke inhalation. the home next door also caught fire. the san francisco police s.w.a.t. team descended on a visitation valley home last night to serve a search warrant. >> officers detained four while serving the warrants around 9:00 last night. the police department won't say why the warrants were served, what the charges are or how many people were arrested. 13 suspected gang members arrested during an early morning sweep in several bay area cities will be making their first court appearance

in federal court. abc7 news spoke to family members who were inside that petaluma home on mcneil drive during yesterday's raid which we followed live here. agents were after 20-year-old victor flores, jr., who authorities say is one of the gang members arrested. three immigration and customs enforcement agents suffer nonlife-threatening wounds. his father says the agents were not wearing anything identifying themselves. he did not want his face shown. >> we shot back because we thought they were gangsters. we never knew they were police because they never introduced themselves as police officers. >> they were treating me like a dog i'm just a minor, barely 14. i didn't do nothing. they pushed me around. >> federal agents say the 13 are linked to a triple murder that happened a year and a half ago in south

san francisco. four of the suspects could face the death penalty. san jose place planning a big show of force for this weekend's cinco de mayo celebrations, due to a recent spike in gang violence. >> reporter: police are increasing patrols this weekend because increasing gang violence, cinco de mayo and falling smack-dab on a saturday night. they think it is a bad combination, they want to be prepared. video from years gone by, what they don't want to happen this is video from 2006. a celebration cinco de mayo that got out of control, 56 people arrested. then allegations of police being too aggressive, same thing happened in 2008. 2010, the cinco de mayo parade and festival was cancelled here in san jose. here we are in 2012, a member of the mayor's gang prevention task force is saying something

is brewing on streets. police working behind the scenes trying to calm tensions, trying to get the gang issues defused. now take a look at a symbol of gang violence from this past week this is 14-year-old heriberto reyes beat anyone a gang attack last friday evening at -- beaten by a gang attack last friday evening. he died monday he's the fifth fatality as a result of gang violence this year. 13 homicides in san jose, five the result of gang violence. add to this, it is going to be a full moon saturday night, it is going to be a super moon, the moon closest to the earth than it has been in a year, more than a year and it is going to be brighter than usual. if you think the crime increases during a full moon that's something else to put into the mix. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. from investors to employers to job seekers, all

across america, all eyes on this morning's release of the april jobs report as the unemployment rate -- is the unemployment rate going down? katie marzullo is live with indicators. >> reporter: prediction as bun for another hour then we'll see the real numbers. many believe employers added 163,000 jobs in april. moody's is estimating a lower 125,000. somewhere in between there, either would be better than march's 120,000. still not enough to move the unemployment rate that is expected to stick at 8.2%. these numbers can and will be spun politically, never more so than in a presidential election year. until march, the jobs report was in president obama's favor. unemployment dropped from 9.1% in august to 8.2% in february. as the "l.a. times" points out -- he'll have plenty to say today if fewer than 100,000

unusual step of placing leland's principal and another assistant principal who rod the incident to police on paid leave while the investigation continues. they are not accused of any wrongdoing. prosecutors preparing response after barry bonds' legal team filed a federal appeal to overturn the obstruction of justice conviction . his lawyers say bonds answered his questions truthfully and were not misleading. the defense also says investigators revised their indictment several times and delayed trial for a year. the former slugger was sentenced to two years probation and a machine of house arrest. a jury convicted bonds of obstruction of justice when he testified in 2003 before a federal grand jury investigating the balco steroids scandal. friday is here. the weekend is just a few hours away. . >> this is a transition day.
