thomas. and i'm kristen sze. breaking news from sfo security lines backed up after a security breach forced the evacuation of terminal 3. the terminal that handles united airlines a busy terminal. let's get the latest from airport spokesman. can you i go us a brief update? -- can you give us a brief update? >> terminal is fully reopened and we are now rescreening passengers. between 3:30 and 4:00 this morning we had an unauthorized access to the terminal. as a result we had to close the terminal down, force everyone out, rescreen the terminal before anything and rescreen all passengers. we've done that, the rescreening restarted 5:30. now all boarding areas are reopened and we should get back to operation shortly.

>> we did see photos of long lines. how many people are we talking about having to be rescreened during this process? >> well, initially just a handful. our first flight starts going out at right about now, 6 a.m.. the line started to build around 5 a.m.. we are looking at several hundred people right now are going to rescreened. the good news is, we'll have some delays the first set of flights going out this morning but we should get caught up quickly all check points are open and we are processing as quickly as we can. >> -- >> we hope folks will get caught up. talk about that unauthorized access. do we know who the individual was? was it unintentional? did they forget to put a bag in the screening area, what happened? >> it is still under investigation. i was a procedural break down, that's -- it was a procedural breakdown that's all i can

talk about. >> we hope to get more information as you get it later in the news cam. -- newscast. when an unauthorized access at terminal 3 at sfo 4:00 this morning. as a result they have to rescreen all passengers. right now you can see kind of a delay, some flights may have to wait a little before they takeoff. not weather-related delays which is our normal delay pattern at sfo. mike is going to look at the forecast and tell us what is going on. >> when kristen asked if there were any flight an rile delays or weather-related i said no. -- our flight tracker will tell you how long it takes to get through security. one of the neat things about it. you can use that also at the bottom of the page at abc7 news.com clouds starting to break up, winds around 10 to 20 miles per hour breezy

>> reporter: san jose police concerned about cinco de mayo weekend increasing patrols, increasing staffing, effective today. it is a three-day event here in san jose. police are trying to be proactive, there's some gang concerns, there's also history concerns. look at some cinco de mayos gone by, video from 2006 from story and king. 56 people arrested back then, 2006. i was a friday night. then came allegations of -- it was a friday night. then came the allegations of police misconduct. in 2010 the city of san jose cancelled its cinco de mayo parade and festival. here 2012, members of the gang prevention task force talking something brewing on the streets. police working behind the scenes, trying to talk to the people who are likely to get involved. talking to gang members, trying to calm 'em down. take a look at a symbol of

gang violence this is 14-year-old heriberto reyes who died monday he went to roosevelt park friday evening to play basketball, attacked by gang members, beaten friday, died monday. the fifth fatality as a result of gangs this year, 13 homicides in san jose so far, five have been the result of gang violence. add to that the nice weather, add to that the full moon saturday and san jose police are going to be trying to do everything they can to prevent violence and deal with it as quickly as it happens f it does. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. -- new this morning, san francisco police on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver who sent a taxi barreling into a business overnight. around 1:45 in morning police say the driver of a red mustang ran a red light and smacked into a taxicab at 910th and mission that sent the taxi barreling into a stoplight and nearby --

business. the driver ran from the scene officers say several bottles of alcohol were found on the vehicle's floorboard. thankfully, the taxi driver was not injure. hours from now the university of cal -- [ unintelligible ] last november uc president mark yudof asked for an intern review last month a task force report said the uc davis police used excessive force when they pepper sprayed students, protesting tuition hikes. that report criticized administrators for creating the environment that allowed it to happen. stockton teacher facing new allegations. school officials discovered thousands of pornographic videos on her school issued laptop. the district says special education teacher posed sexual fully hundreds of pictures her school laptop contained video

of a young woman who could be underage, a cartoon mocking special ed students and naked images of her 2 and 4-year-old daughters. >> we first learned of this situation and/or about october 6th of this year. i can tell you that i person palace placed the teacher on administrative leave on that day. >> d.a. says the images don't appear to be child pornography. she now fighting to get her job back. san francisco school kids bracing for the possibility their teachers will be striking for the first time since 1979. the union will meet next week to begin voting on whether to authorize a strike. the board is demanding too many cuts it wants a 2% raise for teacher the last raise they got was in 2008. the district wants teach terse to accept four furlough days in each of the next two years. more if the governor's tax plan for education fails in november. a look at the accuweather

prosecutors are preparing their response after bonds' legal time filed an appeal to overturn the obstruction of justice conviction if that appeal bonds' lawyers say

let's get the latest from meteorologist mike nicco. good morning. dry the clouds are breaking up, the winds are picking up out of the west that going to bring us drier, but cooler air today even with total sunshine temperatures still below average. right now winds gusting around 10 to 15 miles per hour they could over the bodies of water get up to 35, 40 this afternoon be careful if you are out there 49 santa rosa, fairfield everybody else in the low to mid 50s. here's frances with your commute. so far looking good now at the bay bridge toll, metering lights on only minor back-up for some of the fast track lanes. a few minor accidents and stalls nothing slowing anyone down. live shot of the golden gate bridge traffic out of marin moving well into san francisco you won't find trouble in the south bay with this live shot of northbound 280 out of downtown san jose up towards cupertino.

6:30 now. for the next three days, starting this morning, san jose will be putting more police officers on the streets, over new worries about gangs and this weekend's cinco de mayo celebration. the city doesn't want a scene like this in 2006 when 56 people were realized. cinco de mayo falls on a saturday this year, also just days after police revealed that a 14-year-old boy was beaten to death in an alleged gang-relate attack. the san francisco police s.w.a.t. team descended on a visitation valley home overnight to serve a warrant. officers detained at least four people after entering the home around 9:00 last night. the police department is not saying why those people were being detained what the warrants were for or how many were arrested. hours from now, 13 suspected gang members arrested during an early morning sweep in several bay area cities will make their first appearance in federal court.

we spoke to family members in a home during yesterday's raid. agents were after 20-year-old victor flores, jr. who authorities say is one of the gang members arrested three immigration and custom agents suffered nonlife-threatening gunshot wounds entering the house. flores' father says the agents were not wearing anything identifying them as police or federal agents. he didn't want his face shown in the interview. we shot back because we thought they were gangsters. we never knew they were police because they never introduced themselves as police officers. >> they treated me like a dog i'm barely 14, i'm just a minor. i didn't even do nothing. they just like pushed me around. >> federal agents say the 13 suspects are linked to a triple murder that happened a year and a half ago. four of the suspects could face the death penalty. in san jose assistant principal out on bail after

being arrested on a charge he inappropriately touched a student. joe reghitto has been working at leland high for two years the alleged incident occurred in september. police felt there was enough probable cause to warrant an arrest. >> we as parents will allow our children to go to these schools naturally with when this type of incident occurs it is a huge violation of trust. >> we can't pass judgment we don't have all the information. we don't know what it is about >> the district has taken the unusual step of placing leland's principal and another assistant principal, who reported the incident, on paid leave during their investigation. they are not accused of any wrongdoing. this morning firefighters say a legal marijuana farm may have fueled the fire that destroyed a÷ san jose home last night the fire was so intense neighbors say they could feel heat from the middle of the street it started 8:00 last night and burned more than an hour spreading to electrical wires and shutting off some

power. nine people had been living in the home including a child. the home next door also caught fire the damage wasn't as bad. big chains onboard for caltrain, including historic agreement with high speed rail and good news for riders. yesterday the board considered a preliminary budget that would add six more trains during peak hours. weekday ridership is up so much some trains don't have enough seats. the board approved a historic plan to electrify caltrain that means caltrain could operate on a system that blends with high speed rail. critics warn that the rail system still has no stable funding and could be look at huge deficits and service reductions a year from now. update on the breaking news we've been following at sfo where officials are trying to deal with big back ups in passenger screening after a security breach forced evacuation of terminal three

this morning and rescreening of all passengers there. amy hollyfield is now live at sfo with the information. >> reporter: this is a story of recovery and shifting. here's the line at the united security checkpoint here in terminal three. it looks long, let me tell you, i think it longs worse than it is. these people just got here to make this line look as long as it is, they came from another security checkpoint. they are shifting and trying to spread out the back-up so it will get people on to their flights as quickly as possible. these people are moving. if you are headed to the airport, don't be terrified of what you are going to expect. i don't think it is going to be a terrible delay if any. especially when you consider what they were up against a few hours ago. compare this to the pictures we saw on twitter this morning. it was much worse. this is what happened at 3:30,

4:00, airport officials say there was an unauthorized access to the terminal. in other words they had a security breach. so they had to evacuate terminal three. they had to rescreen all passengers and rescreen the terminal. quite a nightmare. however, a good time of day for it to happen, that's the positive we can find. 3:30 4:00, they have lots of flights that takeoff at 6:00, as you probably know. they did have to hustle. they say there was a handful of people, the line built up at 5:00, but they've made a significant improvement in fact, let's take one more like. you will see the line already is dwindling. it is really moving here. they are still investigating what happened. they can only tell us there was a security break down that is the official word. they are still investigating. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. glad they are getting back

on track and hopefully no one will be missing any connections. 6:36. this morning secretary of state clinton is waiting -- is wading further into the diplomatic controversy with china over a political disden. clinton is in china and spent the last two hours -- talking this controversy and potential solution. katie marzullo joins us live from the newsroom. >> reporter: it looks like blind chinese activist chen will be getting what he wants, not only for himself, but for his family. the u.s. state department says he does have a fellowship at a u.s. university and china has released an official statement saying it will allow chen to leave the country to study. the state department spokeswoman says agreement includes allowing chen's wife even two children to also leave china. clinton answered questions about the situation this morning. she said she is happy with china's latest response and says embassy staff was able to meet with chen at the hospital
