way to a pretty warm weekend. in fact the beaches are going to warm into the 07s by the end of the weekend with high pressure building into the north are us and that sets up that offshore flow. the upper elevation winds could be a little gusty. we will talk about that and the expected high temperature coming up. >> i can't wait to see if she has rain in the forecast again. lisa, thank very much. knew this morning out of sonoma county a magnitude 4 tony 3 earthquake. the u.s. geological survey said it was centered three miles east of the geysers about 24 miles north of santa rosa struck at 2:23 this morning nearly 2 miles below the earth's surface. no injuries or damage. cinco de mayo celebration necessary past years have been destructive and sometimes violent. officers aren't taking any chance because of a recent uptick in gang violence. >> it's not crazy yet in

downtown san jose but this manager is closing her santa clara street shop early. for 20 years she sees what happens outside her during during cinco de mayo. >> every cinco de mayo there's fights everywhere, blood in the streets and it's getting worse. >> she remembers if six years ago when many people were arrested t prevents people from getting downtown this weekend. >> we're staying away from downtown. i don't want to expos any children to the violence or anything that would go bad here. we are going to stay home and relax. >> he said he will leave downtown if history begins to repeat itself. >> coming are going to come out with guns and knives, i don't want to be near that, nor my kids. >> the police are ready to deal with gang police if it happens. dozens are denied on horseback, motorcycles, in cars and on the streets. >> we are will have enough officers working and if he with have to we can call for mutual aid. >> this weekend is supposed to

be other celebration, not an excuse for violence. >> he is thinking positive. >> i think it will be enter than last year because i see more security here in the downtown. >> san jose police say they aren't just concentrating on suppression and enforcement but also prevention. the gang intervention unit is taking some troubled youth out of town on field drips during which time they will get counseling in order to lure them away from the gang life. >> abc7 news. knew this morning police are looking for two men who robbed two employees of a mill valley spa at gunpoint last night. a man wearing a dark hat, glasses and hooded sweatshirt held up the workers in back of the miller spa. a second possible suspect had tattoos on his arms. they forced the workers into a back room and they stole property from the spa and workers. they made off with the workers vehicles. a white kia he is don'ta van and

a honda civic. the police are helping anyone with information will give them a call. in oakland police are trying to going out who robbed up to 20 people in barbershop last night. it happened just after 8:00 at the barbershop on better national boulevard. officers tell us four men with handguns wearing green hoodies walked into the shop and started robbing people. nobody injured. a surreal site after the robbery. bashers kept cutting hair even as the police were conducting their investigation. well, this morning the driver of a stolen car is recovering after being shot by a police officer. it happened after one led the police and chp on a chase from highway 4 to interstate 80 yesterday. he turned into the valley road, into the kaiser hospital parking lot, got out of his car and started shooting at police. the police returned and hit the

man in the shoulder. some shopkeepers in san francisco's mission district are just now getting back to district after may day vandals went on a rampage on tuesday. but those business owners are not getting stuck with the repair bill. abc7 explains how a social networking page is bringing in donation toss them them out. >> that is surveillance video from outside the police station on monday night. that's what vandals took to valencia street to destroy everything in sight. this woman new there was a demonstration going on at delores park that night. >> we noticed people wearing black mask and holding crow bars and holding bats and there was a car in front of us and they broke down the windows. >> the vandals smashed their front windows. >> the cost to row pair that is phenomenal. >> now there's help for the

streets and freeing ramps yesterday evening. it was san jose and geneva avenues from a police robot tugged on what looked like a suitcase stuck to a street sign. what a mess. some bart and muni managers also affected. turned out to be nothing. police signaled the all clear about 6:30 last night. this morning chp officers are looking for the driver who struck and killed a man on highway 1 north of can't cruz. sometime between thursday night and friday morning a man on a black bicycle was hit near wilder ranch state park. they don't know exactly when he was hit because the body hidden by vegetation was not spotted for about 12 hours or so. the man's doing, who had been inside a crate attached to the bike was found unharmed standing guard next to his owner's body. family man say freed iran hikers were married today in a private ceremony in an

undisclosed location. the fellow hiker is going to be the best man. this photo shows him giving her the engagement ring. the first ring he gave her was made in the prison from the threads of his shirt. three were arrested at the iran border on espionage charges last year. they say they were not spying but mistakenly crossed into iran while liking along the border. one of yahoos's largest shareholder issued a new ultimatum, fire scott thompson by monday or else. he has come under fire for listing a computer science agree degree but it's from a college that doesn't offer one. his degree is actually in accounting. shareholder daniel loebe says he has to go. in a memo obtained by "all

warmer. so this morning, without the wind and that radiational cooling we've dropped off. 9 degrees cool we're half moon bay and hayward 11 degrees cooler in livermore." our highlights clear this morning. warmer days right on through next week with our warmest day approaching monday. then after that we will slowly begin to see that sea breeze kickback up. with the gusty, northwesterly winds the past couple days and with high pressure building in in the pacific and that cooler airlifting out to the north and east, it is going to take those northwesterly winds. we are looking at more after northerly gradient. and eventually northeastly winds. the higher elevations tonight will see some gusty winds but the downsloping winds aiding in the warming today and wishing the fog well away. in fact, the compressional heating allowing the days to warm right on through monday.

we are looking at much, much warmer conditions taking the chill out of the air today and getting kind of toasty in the next several days. high pressures today look at the sierra nevada. 54 in the northern sierra. and 92 palm springs. really a nice afternoon here with 80 in the valley, 74 los angeles. so still very comfortable today but the numbers will continue to warm right on through the next several days. so average high temperatures today, downtown san francisco about 64 degrees. highs today around 70 across the bay. 74 oakland with 77 ran rafael and a couple 80s inland east bay looking at the upper 70s. 76 in san jose so still some 60s here from point reyes and ocean beach and half moon bay. tomorrow is another five to; degrees of warming. we will be in the 70s at our

technology reporter david louie has the story. >> he was on facebook when he heard from someone he thought was a former numi coworker. >> hey, von, i got this e-mail address we are entitled it a grant. i go really? >> his fake friends said the word of the grant came from the numi reemployment center. that was set up when the auto plant shut down two years ago. he e-mailed the contact. >> he said all i have to do is give him $1,500.00, wire it to caroline or something like that. >> that's when he did, to an address in north carolina. it would make him eligible to the $120,000 grant he was told. then he was told to wire more money, $2,155, which he did. he got suspicious when a cousin contacted him on facebook and started giving him wrong information. >> so i started asking him how is my uncle leo doing? he said he's doing fine.

>> that's another mistake because he's dead. at that point he recognized he's victim of a scam. and there are others. others are assuming the identity of friends to dupe additional victims. the reemployment center has sent out warning e-mails to 1700 clients. >> of course, we are victims. they are using our name, representing our good name of the agency who has been assisting them the last couple years. certainly we feel the pain as well. >> the case is being amend he would by north carolina police. lever more police are putting out a warning. >> when you put something on the internet or exchange information you really don't know who you are talking to. it may be one of your friends, it may be somebody totally unknown to you who is collecting information to make you a victim of a crime. >> and how does ron webber feel about losing over $3,600? >> i don't feel bad at all. i really don't. it's just my identity and my friends and my family. especially when he hit my family, that's what really bothered me. >> we reached out to facebook for comment about this incident,

but no one got back to us. ron webber worked for them for 20 years. while he said he's not bothered losing $3,600, he still has not found a new job since they shut down few years ago. abc7 news. san francisco's sunday's streets program is expanding. starting tomorrow it is going to take place in the mission, closing the streets to cars. it will be helithe first sunday every month for four months in the same location. the route is going to be along valencia and 24th streets. it includes live music, food, activities for kids. previously the event was held in a different part of the city every month but officials say the goal is to examine how to create more open spaces and support small businesses in the city. so tomorrow they are going to be wondering what kind of weather they will have for the sunday streets. >> yeah, nice. warmer than today. today there's an offshore flow with temperatures steadily warming right through next week. here's a live look outside with

>> he was an 18-year-old crew man aboard the uss hornet: the crew that hauled them within striking distance to the japanese coast. he was manning a turet as they were going to strike back. >> america was back on its heels that. coupled with what was proceeding in europe paint add bleak picture not just for the american people but the people of the free world. >> retired air force major tom cain heads the jimmy doolittle air and space museum at traverse air force base. they are honoring doolittle and the raid on board the uss hornet in alameda. this hornet, a floating museum, replaced the earlier hornet which was sunk in battle. the doolittle name may not be well-known to this generation but in the mid-20s he was one of the more accomplished flyers.

going to be followed by a jimmy doolittle tribute dinner at 5:00 p.m. you might want to take a moment to look at the moon tonight. as it passes closer to earth than usual. it will be a so-called super moon. lisa was talking about it a few minutes ago. it's the term for the biggest and brightest moon of the year. this is the moon over the bay area this morning. not quite full burke getting there and bright. the moon will pass about 15,000 miles closer to earth than average. that will make it appear bigger than usual, although it will be hard it see the difference for some. like any full moon, it will look bigger when it's hanging close to the horizon and that happens around sunset. thanks for the heads-up on the super moon. we will be able to see it? >> oh, yeah. >> nice and clear tonight. >> nice and clear right now. pretty chilly out there. 39 degrees half moon bay. >> really? >> yes. we have cool numbers and we are looking at a beautiful start to the day. you were talking about that moon about 8% closer to the earth.

so it's going to appear about 8% larger and 16% brighter. 6:09 is the official sunrise. 8:04 is the sunset. we will be looking at steadily warming temperatures over the next several days. high pressure is building into the pacific and an offshore flow, so looking pretty good out there. our coast is clear. that's why we are so cool this morning. 45 in redwood city. it's 47 in oakland with 43 in the livermore valley. look at antioch at 56. 44 in los gatos. this morning definitely cooler out there with the lack of wind. pretty good radiation natural cooling. numbers as much as 3 to 7 degrees cooler from redwood city, hayward to napa, and look at livermore. 11 degrees colder this morning. we will offset that cooling once the sun comes up. and we get a wind shift. it's already happening. we are looking at winds out of the north. warmer days into the next several days right on through monday. by tuesday it looks like we will see a little bit more of an

onshore push. but this is steadily a really nice warming trend and we are looking at pretty hot weather through tomorrow and monday away from our coast. so here's a look at the setup. high pressure has been in the pacific and that has brought the gusty northwesterly winds. and now with those northwesterly winds lefting out and the cooler air mass slide to go the east we have a trough setting up along the coast. high pressure building into the north and east, and that is the perfect setup for that offshore flow today, tomorrow into monday. so a very nice looking several days out there with finally some warmer weather at our beaches. today those still in the 60s there. but it is warming up. we will look for this warm weather to take us through the next several days. in terms of high temperatures around the state today, 78 fresno with los angeles coming in at 74. 67 in san diego. and 80 sacramento. 54 in the northern sierra with 69 in the southern sierra.

headed to the ballpark today, a beautiful afternoon. plenty of sun and temperatures right in the mid-60s climbing to around 70. so tons of sunshine. make sure you are bring the sun block. a little warmer tomorrow. we are lacking at high temperatures today above normal. we should be in the mid-60s here. and 78 in concord and livermore. enjoy it. a nice, mild afternoon. tomorrow getting a bit on the warm side with another two to four degrees warming. 76 today san jose. palo alto is 72 in salinas and 60s from half moon bay to monterey. here's the look ahead. you notice temperatures coming up today. 6 tos at our coast to 80s inland and then 70 tomorrow at our beaches. 84 inland valleys. still not fog to speak of until wednesday, thursday and friday. so nice, dry stretch. warmer weather and definitely feeling lake spring out there.
