let's get the first look at traffic. so far, so good traffic has been very quiet this morning. bay bridge toll cash paying lanes backed up to the end of the parking lot. low clouds over the golden gate bridge, traffic looks good in and out of marin. heads-up for vallejo bay link ferry having a mechanical problem they will be using buses. in my next report i'll -- :02. update to breaking news we brought you in the last half hour. early morning fire has damaged parts of a commercial building on macarthur boulevard. terry mcsweeney is live at the scene with details. >> reporter: macarthur boulevard reopened at 99th avenue across the street from me is where the building burned. take a look at video showing

you the other side of the building where the roof is gone where the fire burned. we are told this is a unoccupied building, not abandoned unoccupied. i don't know what it was, it does have a barber pole like design on the front. >> it is an abandoned, -- not abandoned but vacant commercial structure with two units. the owner has been on scene. >> reporter: nobody was in the building. firefighters are tweeting that one firefighter was injured, minor injuries, battling this fire. we do not know the cause of this fire. one firefighter, minor injuries as a result the fire out. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. 6:03. developing news in pleasanton. police investigating the circumstances surrounding the

shooting deaths of a mother and her 13-year-old daughter. inside the house they found 37-year-old amy burton shot to death. her daughter ainsley was still alive but died a short time later. police say they consider the husband a person of interest, not a suspect. amy hollyfield will have a live up do it in the -- update in the next half hour. deputies discovered what could be a crucial clue in their search for 15-year-old sierra lamar. investigators looking for a red 1990s volkswagen jetta it has a black hood the car turned up several times on videos and statements. lamar disappeared on the way to her bus stop to go to school. authorities determined that two items that were found and first thought to be linked to the case, used condoms and box marked handcuffs have no connection to the case.

toddler in children's hospital oakland with serious bite wounds after being mauled in her home by the family pit bull. 2-year-old letty mcquay is expected to survive but has a long recovery. she was bitten in the face, head and leg. family members were home and quickly called 911 within. sky 7 hd was overhead when the dog was taken by animal control officers. it has already been euthanized. antioch police released sketches of two of the three men accused of robbing and kidnapping a taxi driver last month. the victim was able to describe two of the suspects in detail. only a vague description of the third man he was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. the cabbie picked up all three at the bart station on april 26th drove them to antioch where police say one pulled out a gun, robbed him and ordered him into the trunk. they drove oakland where the

driver was released unharmed. if you recognize anyone in these sketches, please call antioch police. vandals damaged a historic california mission. this morning police say the evidence left may turn it into a hate crime. the mission is known as holy cross catholic church in santa cruz. police say the vandalism and language seem to target the church specifically as well as catholicism. >> based on solve of the language we believe it might meet the criteria as a hate crime. >> i want things to get back to normal this is not going to set us back. we've been here over 200 years we are going to be here for another 200. among the most severely damaged this baptismal font from the 1700s, given to the church when it was established. police have a tool to aid in their investigation, video cameras. they are reviewing

backed up to just about the 880 overcrossing, a 10 to 15 minute wait. it has been quiet this morning, still a good ride 680 southbound towards highway 24, no major problems in marin, 101 southbound san rafael past the marin civic center. breaking news from the u.s. department of defense. soldier from alameda has died in afghanistan. >> the department of defense says 30-year-old staff sergeant thomas fogerty died from an attack on his unite with an improviseed explosive device. the attack on his unit took place sunday in afghanistan. developing news from pleasanton, police are investigating the mysterious shooting deaths of a 13-year-old girl and her mother. the bodies were found in their home last night. amy hollyfield is live at the scene. >> reporter: the family did not call this house home for

very long. neighbors say they just moved here from out of state a few months ago this is where the mother and daughter were found shot to death on stacey court, last night. police have identified them as 37-year-old amy burton and her daughter 13-year-old ainsley. they were found inside the home on stacey court about 6:00 last night both had been shot to death. >> we're still investigating the circumstances that lead to this shooting still being determined. >> reporter: who called 911 one? >> husband. >> reporter: the husband discovered them? >> yes. >> reporter: police are not calling the husband a suspect they won't say whether they are investigating a double homicide or murder-suicide they said the neighborhood does not need to be on high alert they don't believe there's a murderer on the loose. this is all they want to say for now, they are being careful with the information

they released. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. 6:32. developing news in oakland. police are searching for a suspect who slipped out of his handcuffs and escaped out of the back of a police car. officers were driving 19-year-old christopher moss to a downtown jail before 8:00 last night he got out of the car and ran near 7th and jefferson. he left the cuffs on the seat behind him, moss had been arrested for theft. tense waiting game in albany where police could remove occupy farm protesters from a plot of land owned by uc berkeley many they ignored the request to leave over the weekend. now they face possible arrest any moment. the occupy the farm movement has detailed what it wants to break camp voluntarily they want to be hooked up to a water supply to irrigate the crops they planned and they want researchers to agree not to use pesticides there.

experts pouring over the next generation of underwear bomb confiscated during a counterterrorism operation in yemen. >> fbi worries this could get past x-ray months and screeners. -- x-ray machines and screeners. >> reporter: i just heard back from tsa officials they say they haven't heard of any airport security changing in the wake of this threat, not yet. counterterrorism adviser trying to reassure the public it is safe to fly. experts at the fbi labs are picking apart this bomb being called sophisticated. it did not have metal in it. it is not known if full body scanners would have detected it. this morning george stephanopoulos was able to ask john brennan if the bomb could have made it through current airport security procedures. >> we rely heavily on our

intelligence services as well as the work of or partners overseas to stop it before it gets near an airport or plane. we continue to refine those measures. we take into account latest attempts by al-qaeda we'll continue to make adjustments if necessary. >> reporter: in this case, because the al-qaeda plot was foiled authorities say no flights were in danger. cia was conducting a covert operation in yemen and say the would be bomber had not yet picked a target or bought a ticket for a flight. some reports say he's been arrested. brennan was not as forthcoming on that us a peck's whereabouts. we know the bomb -- bomb maker is still on the loose. former presidential hopeful santorum endorsing mitt romney through an e-mail. santorum sent his supporters a long late night e-mail calling on them to unite behind the cause of defeating president obama in november.

the new digital scanners will help amtrak keeper track of passengers. the iphone system costs the government agency 7 1/2 million dollars to develop. they hope to roll out the digital scanners to all conductors by late summer. this morning the spotlight on competitors after bank of america offers a break to hundreds of thousands of homeowners. >> jane king joins us live from the new york stock exchange. hello. bank of america starting to send out letters to more than 2 -- 200,000 homeowners letting them know they may be eligible for big loan modifications. this is part of the bank's agreement ag's from california and other states. there are four other large financial institutions involved, wells fargo, chase,

citigroup and allied financial. wells fargo says the justice department may seek damages against it in a fair lending probe. the bank is working to convince regulators it is in compliance with regulations. we are on the defensive again here today, a lot of confusion about greece, having trouble forming a government there calling into question future of the bailouts. even greece's role in the eurozone. bloomberg index trading to the downside. a company tries to transform business to keep up with rivals like zynga. the maker says it is delaying release of what it calls an important unidentified game title pass next year this is a major factor dragging down sales expectations of the company. shares are taking a hit this morning down 5%.

still westbound 580 out of the altamont pass that drive time almost half an hour to the 680 interchange. westbound 80 crowded through berkeley near gilman and university, drive time up to 25 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maze and the maze is just about where you will start to see the back-up for the bay bridge toll which is slow to the metering lights. elsewhere fine on the peninsula, 101 good through san rafael, typical slow down southbound 101 through petaluma. dramatic video showing fullerton police officers beating a homeless man who later died of his injuries. shown for the first time in court yesterday. we want to wash upwsp; the fooe is graphic and may -- we want to warn you, the footage is graphic and may be difficult to watch. some people actually left the courtroom. >> get on the ground! >> i'm sorry dude! >> the officers face second degree murder and involuntary

manslaughter charges in the july 5th beating of 37-year-old kelly thomas. prosecutors say what should have been a routine encounter with a mentally ill man escalated. the case has triggered scores of protests and prompted some to hold memorials. both officers have pleaded not guilty. one faces possible life if convicted. dozens of san francisco drivers say they are getting mixed signals at a busy intersection corner of fell and masonic has been called one of the city's dangerous intersections. to fix it officials put a special light for bikes and a no left turn arrow for drivers. in january they installed a camera that's when the flood of angry calls began. the transportation agency says this one camera cranks out 500 tickets a month. many are fighting the $420 fine. >> when i made a left turn it took a picture of me.
