antioch highway. >> and again, sky 7 has been live over what is left of a massive four-alarm tire fire near the highway in contra costa county. thick dark clouds pored out of the building and a large warehouse. >> fire officials say two businesses and an auto shop have been consumed by fire, you can imagine cars also burned. >> this all started at about 4:00 but looks like firefighters are getting it under control. this scene different than just minutes ago when flames and smoke were still pouring off of the building. firefighters took what is called a defensive position meaning it's not safe for firefighters to enter the building uk see flames today by sky 7 hd. they were coming through the roof here and you can see there is thick smoke which is

not healthy cocoa-to-breathe. the fire department has been telling people to close windows and door autos residents told just keep your air conditioner off and stay inside for the time being. so far no reports of injuries and firefighters took a defensive position, did not go inside. and the fire could burn for some time because of the toxins and it looks like things are now calming down there. >> and right now we want to take you to the south bay. investigators have located the car they believe may be connected to the disappearance of 15-year-old sierra lamar. police not saying where, or when they found this 1990s red volkswagon jetta with a black hood. we're live in san jose. >> and detectives say they

don't want to compromise the investigation so they aren't revealing if this jetta was found in santa clara county and aren't saying if a tip led detectives to that car. the sheriff's office released three surveillance photos of the jetta and now found. >> we just can't disclose when it was found and when we took it into custody nor can we disclose the location of where we found it here is another surveillance photo undergoing a forensic examination. >> we don't have a person of interest yet. we're hoping that some evidence, if anything will be fielded from this car will lead us into that direction. >> the 15-year-old disappeared from her home on march 16th and the red jetta is the first solid lead in nearly two months. and sierra's father says he

the last 24 hours. and another child was attacked yesterday. authorities euthanized that dog so it can be tested for rainy autos police have released new information in the shooting deaths of a mother ask daughter. the bodies of 37-year-old amy freeman burton and 13-year-old ainsley freemonan were found by her husband. police say they found two handguns inside of the home, both unregistered. the husband told investigators the family got them from his brother in arizona one was found near bodies. they were each shot at least once. there was no forced entry into the home. officials say the husband is not a suspect. >> he has been very cooperative down here last night several hours providing detailed statements to us and he called 911. >> and there are autopsies set

for tomorrow morning. the district cancelled state school testing and brought in grief counselors today where she was in 8th grade. >> the family of a man shot and killed by police claim he never pointed a gun in an officer and authorities say there is a different story. he was killed after being chased by police. and we're live with the story tonight. >> behind me is where it started. and there is a family is in the place where the police shot and killed him. he and two other friends were standing on the corner after midnight sunday morning. according to police two officers say they thought one man had a gun and decided to stop him and police say all three took off running. there is one officer shot him

three times while accidentally shooting himself in the foot. police say there are multiple witness who's say buford pointed a pistol at an officer. his father says they were at a friend's house. >> i talked to him 15 minutes. he called me and asked what he's doing. i said it's not a good place to be here, he said dad i'm okay. i'm waiting for girls in a chrysler. he said i'm coming to get my phone. he never made it. >> the question to me without knowing more is where was the gun in el relationship at the time he got shot? in his pocket? paints? or not? >> and police department spokesperson said he does not know where that gun was found and declined an interview and say he was on juvenile

city of san francisco could be on the hook to clean up decades of damage caused by pacific rod and gun club located on the great highway. abc 7 news is live where the public utilities commission met to talk about this today. vic? >> there is contamination caused by lead shots. they stopped using bullets sometime ago now using steel bullet chz are apparently more safe or environmentally friendly. and there are decades of firing caused contamination. the issue is tied into a bigger debate over which agency should now manage lake merced. the city p.u.c. is the landlord and decades ago, it delegated management

of the programs to the rec and park department. now they want to take it back. one reason is that they want to be able to negotiate with the pacific rod and gun club. the club is a sizeable portion of land here decades. steve ritchie is assistant general manager of water for p.u.c. >> we've found through investigations over time, that there is contamination on the property. >> members of the committee to save lake merced say if there is contamination this is the main concern. >> whether or not it's leeching into the water or getting into the fish that are here. >> those who sup supported turning over management back to the p.u.c. >> it has resulted in confused and inefficient decision making. >> the p.u.c. investigations reveal so far

california state university system is a step closer to approving a controversial proposal for new campus presidents. the committee voted today to amendment a compensation policy so taxpayers will to the fund raises for new presidents. campus nonprofit groups will be asked to raise funds to pay for those salary increases. officials say the money is needed to recruit leaders and that doesn't play fli with professors who have not had a pay raise. >> we have the same issue recruiting faculty. we recruit a junior assistant
