authorities searched three different southwest airlines jets for explosives within the l.a. two and a half hours. >> one jet returned to orange county's john wayne airport after an unspecified 8: 8:30 this evening. they isolated the plane. a bomb squad then determined the jet was safe. >> officials took the le threats againstgetting southwest flights flying from orange county to phoenix. >> two other jets were searched after they landed safely in phoenix.

the fbi is leading the investigation into the threats against all three flights. >> i'm ashley. >> i'm carolyn johnson. tonight's threats come amid height heightened airline security after the cia foiled a plot to bomb a plane. >> the man tasked to carry the bomb was a double agent working for the cia. he is a saudi arabian spy who managed to infiltrate the circle in yemen. she back in saudi arabia tonight. they are examining the sophisticated underwear bomb itself. airports around the world are urged to be on alert from another attempt from al-qaeda to attack planes. and in the north bay a search is underway for a killer. investigators found a woman in her 60s dead in her home on bernice avenue. apparently she was the victim of a violent struggle. alan wang has the latest. alan? >> carolyn, police are still not ready to call this a

homicide. instead they say the 66-year-old woman died under suspicious circumstances. police say they went to the home after family members asked them to check on her because she lives alone. that's when they found the woman dead inside around 11:00 this morning. she has not been identified. since then the investigators have been examining the place for any clues. >> we were able to gain entry to the residence. we found what appeared to be a violent type of crime scene that occurred inside the residence. >> reporter: police noticed the victim's white toyota highlander was missing. tonight they are searching for the car with california license plates 5sgc869. again police are still at the scene where 66-year-old woman was found dead in her home underus circumstances. ,'m alan wang reporting live,

abc7 news. >> alan, thank you. concord police are hunting for the hit and run driver who left a four-year-old girl in the gutter badly injured. sky 7hd was overhead just as the youngster was being oakland. to children's a witness says she ran into the street and was hit by a newer model pick up with over sized tires that sped away. police say the little girl suffered major, but not life-threatening foot injuries. a tire fire that choked the skies with toxic smoke is out, and an employee of the tire sto the it all happened at blue star tires in pittsburgh on the pittsburgh antioch highway. abc7 er wayne freedman is there live for us tonight. wayne? >> carolyn, first he was under detection and now he is under arrest and in the county jail in martinez. he faces charges of usingworks illegal fireworks, starting a fire and injuring two of his former co-workers. the fire ended at around 6:15

to use it to paint the tires and everything ble witnesses say >> witnesses say it should not have happened at all. later police took one of thes i employees into custody for questioning. the fire injured two people. it damaged six businesses including robert acolos. he has no insurance. he estimates the loss to be at least $100,000. >> it is all i can do to stop from keeping from crying. >> about an hour ago fire authorities released the name of the man they arrested. he is 37 years old he was an employee in the tire store. the investigation here resumes tomorrow morning. in pittsburgh, wayne freedman, abc7 news. >> wayne, thank you. in the search for a missing teenager tonight for the first time in a longtime, a solid lead. that's what santa clara county detectives detectives are calling the discovery of a red car they believe is connected to the disappearance of 15-year-old sierra lamar.

abc7 new abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian with the break. >> her fat anxiously into the santa clara county sheriff's department for what was supposed to be a simple update meeting with detectives. but for the first time in seven weeks they have a solid lead. investigators found this jetta caught on several surveillance cameras in morgan hill on march 16th. >> this vehicle is associated with her disappearance. the vehicle was observed on the date and near the time when sierra went missing. is there an owner and all of those kinds of things. >> this father wants answers. there have been few since sierra disappeared. thousands of tips and dozens of searches have lead no where. the divers continue to search reservoirs and lakes in the southern part of the county. just yesterday officials announced that this car may be involved. but they won't say who it belongs to and how they found it or evenhere. where.

castro valley after the family dog mauled him. the pittbull is being kept at a shelter. the mauling took place on gary drive around 2:00 this deputies deputies say they found manyous dangerous items inside the home. they arrested the parents for child endangerment. the father, jarod perkins is in custody in jail. the mother is being treated for injuries at a local hospital. their son will remain in protective once he custody oncee leaves the hospital. a 13-year-old boy died evene police say he road his skateboard into the side of a pick up truck. it happened at 5:15 this evening. investigators believe the boy was turning from one street to another when he hit the truck. he died after being rushed to the hospital. police say he was wearing a helmet. a sad story. the owner of an oil tanker that spilled 420 gallons of

the parents of a high school stu and killed say and killed say they want more answers.

police say they shot the 18-year-old skyline student because he pointed a gun at them. his parents say he was wait forget a ride on a street corner and two high school -analled juveniles on sunday just after midnight. police say they ran from them and the officers shot three times. the father said he just finished calling his son to >> i talked to him 15 minutes. i said what are you doing? i said that's not a good place to be, man. i told him to be careful. he said, dad, i am okay. i am going to get my phone. he left his phone with me. he never made it. >> an oakland police wasesperson says a recovered, but he isn't sure where they found the gun. huey was on juvenile probation and they are active parents dealing with their son. the tight knit community of alameda is mourning the loss of onef their own.

near the bay. the fog will pull away eventually, and we will see sunny skies. but it is going to be a cooler day. 50s coast side and the 80s inland. still above normal, but not as warm as it was today. here is a look at the high temperature range. 80 degrees in santa rosa and 84 in clear lake. 76 in vallejo. the inland areas in the east bay and 84 in concord and antioch. oakland 72 degrees. san francisco will be breezy. westerly wind up to 20 miles an hour. 59 in half moon bay. 78 in san jose. and for the monterey bay, breezy in the afternoon. 62 in monterey. up to 82 degrees inland in morgan hill. if you are going to the a's game at the coliseum, they will be hosting the bluejays again at 12:35, sunny and mild. mid60s to low 70s tomorrow afternoon. good looking weather for a ballgame. and here is the accu-weather seven-day forecast. cooler everywhere tomorrow. it is warming back up on

take a look. this shows a hit and run accident as a car swerves into a group of people plowing into it. it sent them head over heels. this incident happened at 3:00 in the morning last thursday. the victim was treated at a hospital, and believe it or not releasedded a short time later with just minor injuries. police did arrest the 19-year-old driver just a few minutes later. >> wow. prom night mishap created pictures worth an infinite number of words for a group of teens in wisconsin. it shows the group posing for a camera on a dock above a lake near milwaukee.

wrap up its case by tomorrow though it's still unclear whether ms. hunter will testify. other big trial news. closing arguments are set to begin later this morning in the murder case against jennifer hudson's former brother-in-law. attorneys for william balfour rested their case yesterday after calling two police detectives as witnesses. balfour is charged with killing hudson's mother, brother and her 7-year-old nephew. we were talking about this before we went on the air. the defense, their case lasted 30 minutes. prosecutors spent two weeks putting their side of the case.
