>> alan: good evening. i'm alan wang. >> ama: i'm ama daetz. uc berkeley gave demonstrators who are occupying a piece of land a deadline to leave. >> alan: the deadline came and went and some occupiers are still out there. >> lisa: "occupy" the farm organizers call this community meeting, which is about to start any minute. their goal is to talk about the farm's future. uc berkeley officials were

invited, but at this point, at least, none of them have shown up. >> as the 10:00 a.m. deadline came and went, demonstrators respond by building something. this ladder and slide will make it easier to hop the fence around gill track. a uc berkeley-owned parcel of land used by the college of natural resources. >> we're not here to get raided and have it be a spectacle. we're here because we want this land preserved as ag land. >> reporter: cal insists that's what is it used for and the demonstrators are getting in the way of research. police and security are standing by, and yesterday occupiers got an ultimatum. leave the farm and secure two seats at a uc led meeting or risk prosecution. the only thing that left the farm today were tents and sleeping bags. >> anyone who has gear in the

gear cubby, it all came out. >> uc has been focusing too much on the encampment. it's become a contentious-for them and the researchers so as a symbol of good faith we're removing our encamment. >> the demonstrators plan to continue farming the land daily. some say they will stay with or without tents. >> i'd like to be able to protect the easement. >> organizers argue it's their right. >> this is a public land and it's for public benefit, and farming is the right thing to do on farmland. >> is this uc become berkeley possible. >> but it's a pock institution and this is public lan. >> they should be able to occupy any laboratory at uc berkeley, tell the researchers how and when to conduct their research. >> the university has filed a lawsuit against more than a dozen of these demonstrators.

accusing them of trespassing and being a nuisance. live in albany. abc-7 news. >> ama: california governor jerry brown revealed today the state budget deficit has grown to $16 billion. the governor made that announcement in a video address posted on youtube in january the deficit was just over $9 billion. governor brown says it's nearly doubled since then because the economy isn't ramping up as fast as the administration had hoped. >> this means we have to go much further and make cuts far greater than i asked for the beginning of the year. but we can't fill a hole of this magnitude with cuts alone, without doing severe damage to our schools. >> ama: the governor will lay out a revised spending plan that relies on voters approving higher tacks on the wealthy in november. state republicans responded by saying the deficit news underscores the need to reign in

spending -- rein in spending. >> alan: 100 supporters of a skyline high school student who was shot and killed bay police officer protested his death with a march for justice today. they made their way from birch street in oakland, where the shooting took place to the east mont mall police station. they say an officer killed the man because he pointed a gun at him. his parents say he was waiting for a ride last sunday. he was on juvenile probation but his parents say they were active parents dealing with his issues. >> ama: volunteers were again searching for sierra lamar. investigators are sifting through tips from all over the country generated by last night's episode of america's most wasn'ted. -- wanted. there has been renewed optimism ever since investigators found

this volkswagen jetta with a black hood. the car had been spotted close to where the 15-year-old was last seen on march 16th. >> alan: former alameda county supervisor nadia lockyer has gained a restraining over against her on-again-off-again boyfriend. she says she and her hawse and children are haunted by him. lockyer claims she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend in february at a hotel in newark but the recovering meth addict claimed lockyer attacked him in a jealous rage. after reviewing the evidence, the attorney general's office says it will not file charges again him. >> ama: mitt romney delivered the commencement speech at virginia's liberty university. one of the world's largest christian schools. a potentially awkward situation because many conservative

spain is in a recession with nearly 25% unemployment and half of all spaniards under age 25 are out of work. there are fears the country could need a bailout. >> alan: president obama honored the nation's top police officers, including a vallejo officer shot and killed while pursuing a bank officers. vice-president joe biden joined the president at the ceremony and paid tribute to thousands of law enforcement officers who go to work every day, not knowing if their training will be pus to the test. >> for the men and women standing behind me, america's top cops, that day came, and whenned it, they were ready. they didn't flinch. they didn't back off. there are people who are alive today only because of their courage. >> alan: vallejo police officer james capu was honored. he was shot and killed in a backyard confrontation with a bank robber last november. >> ama: today is graduation day in several bay area

>> alan: graduation season goes into full swing at uc berkeley this weekend. more than 3,000 newly minted graduates got their dip loomed at the edwards track stadium. google executive chairman and uc berkeley grad eric schmidt delivered the keynote speech to a capacity crowd. he urged the graduates to take a positive attitude. >> yes keeps us all young. yes is a very tiny word which

allows you to do very, very big things. say it often. don't be afraid to fail. and do not be afraid to succeed. >> alan: some 7,000 uc berkeley students will walk across the stage during 100 ceremonies through the end of the month. the most popular majors include economics, political science, business administration and electrical engineering. am just getting into cal is hard enough. graduating as valedictorian is really something. here's the story of this year's medal winner, a 22-year-old who walked away with two degrees today in chinese studies and conservation. >> cal student eric olef has a way with words. traps laying, hello, hi name is eric. nice to meet you. in mandarin, spanish, and portuguese. he is this year's university medal winner. >> the university medal has been around since 1871.

to even apply a student must have a gpa of 3.96. but clearly, the selection committee takes other things into account. >> it's someone who represents the ideals of the university, who has varying interests and has done creative things. >> olaf's interest in the university began while attending the forestry camp and spent one summer doing investigative work at cal's research station on the island of more raya in the south pacific. and he was recently involved in a community development program in nicaragua. >> when i think about spending a summer in the bay area, doing the same things i usually do it's much more aattractive to me to try something new. >> when i asked him what he learned from his trips he quoted an old chinese probable verb. >> if three people are walking, my teacher must be among them,

down eight in san jose, and down seven in hey werd a -- hayward and wheeling gee be cooling. antioch, a high of 90 today. it's 89 right now in livermore. 86 in con covered. you get a sense, the further you get to the bay as well as the coast, those numbers start to drop down. san francisco right now, 58. santa rosa, 74. mountain view, 7 2. here's a look at the highlights, taking you into the all-important mother's day tomorrow. low clouds and pockets, moving a little further inland tonight. the sea breeze will cool us off a good bit tomorrow for mother's day, and more cooling monday and tuesday. down by about as much as 15 degrees heading into monday afternoon and tuesday. here's how we started off the day. with low clouds and fog near the coast, and it just kind of sat

there. now, a stronger onshore wind component will push all of this further inlean -- inland tonight. we managed low 90s inland. lows tonight, low clouds and fog moving inland. mid-to-upper 50s in the east bay. san francisco, low clouds, maybe a little drizzle as well. 53 degrees. napa, 53, and 5 for san jose. so don't look for a lot of change tomorrow. temperatures will continue to come down. overnight tonight, the sea breeze will start to increase and all of the low clouds and fog by the coast will move further inland. this is 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, and then start to burn back to just near the peninsula. and the coast. so look for cooler conditions, coastside tomorrow. the bay will cool down as much, and instead of warm to hot temperatures inland tomorrow, we'll look for mild conditions in the 80s. in fact here's a look at the numbers. 85 for antioch. 83 for liver movement san francisco, cool, breezy

th >> mike: the raiders holding their rookie mini-camp this weekend. the first without al davis in almost 50 years. reggie mckenzie is the new man in charge and dennis allen, the new hawed coach. the silver and black get ready for the season. raiders did not have many draft choices. and of course, rookies are always a bit overwhelmed in their first camp. >> i want to get to the point where i can be a contributor. i just want to do anything i can to help the team. obviously we all heard about the direction the raiders are going and i want to be part of that. >> we just finished up with the draft phase and now we're kind of getting into the football phase of the offseason program.

and so it's been pretty smooth. it's been exciting, and every day there's a little something different that shows up. >> mike: the 49er backfield went from strong to stacked with the additions of brandon jacobs and la michael james. in particular, adding speed and flash. james work out with the ninersn. piled up more than 2,000-yard from scrimmage with the ducks, and hunter and gore leading the way, james knows his first year will be a learning experience. >> i can learn a lot of great things from the veteran guys. frank gore is one of the best running backs in the lead. and jacobs, and with me coming in, i can learn. i think that's the most important thing for me to do right now, sit back and watch how they operate and hopefully i can be a great player. >> mike: players championship on the tour. par-3 17th at the tpc saw
