trayvon martin have released nearly 200 documents, photos and media files. >> they tell a lot. they reveal some stunning, new details about that tragic night. but there's still a great deal that remains in dispute. abc's tahman bradley joins us with more on this. good morning, tahman. >> reporter: good morning, rob and diana. the evidence could support george zimmerman's claim that he was badly injured in a scuffle with trayvon martin. but at the same time, it could bolster the argument made by martin's parents that zimmerman was profiling the teenager. newly released evidence in the trayvon martin case is painting a better picture of what really happened the night the florida teenager was shot and killed. we see for the first time, this surveillance video of trayvon martin at a 7-eleven, buying candy and iced tea, the night of february 26th, not long before he was fatally shot. and these pictures show the man who shot him, george zimmerman, at the police station, with injuries. >> he has some abrasions on his forehead. he had kind of like a deformity

on the nose. kind of a bit swollen. he has some abrasions to his cheeks and face. >> reporter: an officer noted zimmerman's nose appeared to be broken. zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder. he claimed self-defense. and this evidence could support zimmerman's claim that he had a struggle with trayvon martin. >> let's remember, trayvon martin was still shot and killed by george zimmerman. and so, even if zimmerman was on his back, even if he was losing a fight, he still has a lot of explaining to do and is going to have to prove that trayvon martin was the initial aggressor. >> reporter: an autopsy indicates that martin was shot at point-blank range, less than 18 inches away. medical examiners also found low amounts of the marijuana component thc in martin's system. the lead investigator called the shooting avoidable, had zimmerman remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement. >> he made a decision to get out of his car in the rain, profile,

pursue and confront trayvon martin and ultimately kill an unarmed teenager. >> reporter: the evidence still doesn't answer one crucial question. whose voice is heard screaming on the 911 calls? martin's father confirmed to investigators that the voice is not his son's. although, he now says he does, in fact, recognize trayvon's voice. rob and diana? >> so many questions. tahman bradley in washington for us. thanks, tahman, for that story. and now, to our other big story this morning. all eyes are on wall street, in anticipation of facebook's first day of trading. >> it is a big day, indeed. it's one of the biggest initial public offering ever. bringing the young company's value to a whopping $104 billion. more on the frenzy, now, from abc's scott goldberg. >> reporter: in just eight years, mark zuckerberg has gone from dormroom geek to nasdaq diva. his new estimated worth is $20 billion, after his company's stock starts trading publicly at $38 a share. and people who have never bought

stock before, like it. >> well, i read things that say you should invest in companies you like or know. and i know this company very well. >> reporter: unfortunately for the little guy, big-time investors already snatched up everything in this initial public offering. some will try to sell their shares for a quick profit today. but if you buy in at that point, you might be paying two-times or three-times the opening price. >> i would wait for a half hour for that to settle a tiny bit before doing so. and again, i wouldn't do it at all, to be honest. >> reporter: there's other concerns about the company now valued at more than $100 billion. just this week, general motors stopped buying ads on facebook, saying they weren't effective. and companies insiders have been unloading a lot of their stock, suggesting they may not like its long-term potential. >> the pets.com gift center. >> reporter: there's the cautionary tale of pets.com, in the '90s. ten shares went for $1,000. today, they're worth nothing. of course, if you bought ten

shares of apple for $220 in 1980, they're worth more than $44,000 today. to get ready for the big day, facebook employees stayed up all night, having what they call a hack-a-thon, trying to brainstorm facebook's next big idea, like that like button. the hack-a-thon ends when the bell rings at the nasdaq. scott goldberg, abc news, new york. also, we have some breaking news that report to you this morning, in connection of the fatal shootings along a remote mississippi highway. authorities now have a suspect in custody. the 28-year-old man has already been charged with two counts of capital murder in the shootings. police say the man was not posing as a police officer during the attacks, as was previously suspected when the case broke and made national headlines, days ago. and now, to north carolina, where jurors will begin deliberations today in john edwards' conspiracy trial. in closing arguments, prosecutors said the one-time presidential candidate would, quote, deny, deceive and manipulate to protect his political career. his defense attorney said what he did was a sin but not a

felony. edwards faces up to 30 years behind bars if he's found guilty. and an autopsy has confirmed that mary kennedy, the estranged wife of robert kennedy jr., died from hanging. and investigators are treating it as a suicide. in an interview with "the new york times," rfk jr. confirmed mary's battle with depression. but since the couple had lived apart for so long, there's now a legal struggle over the details of her burial. in new zealand this morning, police have filed criminal charges against a boston university student behind the wheel of a deadly minivan crash last weekend. three b.u. classmates died in that crash. the driver and four others were injured. police, though, don't believe alcohol or drugs were involved in this. but they have charged the unnamed student with careless driving. he faces a possible two-year jail term. president obama welcomes france's newly inaugurated president to the white house later this morning. francois hollande will meet with

mr. obama, before the two leaders head to this weekend's g-8 summit in camp david. and next week's meeting in chicago. the socialist, hollande, has already ruffled some allied feathers, though, by saying he plans to pull french combat troops from afghanistan two years ahead of schedule. of course, our other big story this morning, we are remembering donna summer, the queen of disco. ♪ let's dance the last dance ♪ ♪ let's boogie, now ♪ let's dance the last dance ♪ >> her music was the soundtrack for the dance craze of the 1970s, thanks to 19 number 1 dance hits. they still have the power to make listeners get up and move. >> they are timeless, for sure. but summer scored one of her biggest hits, though, after disco faded. welcome back, everybody. well, responsibility for one of the biggest financial blunders of the year may start at the very top. sources tell "the wall street journal" that jpmorgan chase ceo, jamie dimon, personally approved the concept behind the bank's disastrous trade. so far, jpmorgan has lost $3 billion. and the mistake has tarnished dimon's image as one of the most

successful leaders on wall street. overseas markets slumped heavily because of worries about banks in spain. tokyo's nikkei average plunged 265 points today. hong kong's hang seng lost 232. and in london, the ftse opened lower. on wall street, the dow closed down 156 points yesterday. the nasdaq index well 60. we mentioned facebook's initial public offering is going to make many of the company's employees very wealthy. and also, some investors. like u2 lead singer, bono. his equity firm owns part of facebook. that makes bono the richest rock star in the world, dethroning paul mccartney. airline passengers may be rebelling against baggage fees. for the first time since airlines began collecting them, the revenue from bag fees went down last year. but still, it amounted to almost 3.5 billion bucks. and a new era in space travel begins this weekend, when

a private rocket heads to the international space station. the flight is bringing groceries, in fact. if it is successful, future private rockets may carry astronauts, as well. and there could be a spectacle over the 3d glasses for the "men in black 3." sony pictures no longer wants to pay a share of the cost of showing the film. >> theaters say they will not give in. they are paying for the special projection equipment. 500 firefighters are scrambling to protect the community. fires are raging in colorado, new mexico and utah. and for louisville, kentucky -- police are still trying to unravel what triggered two outbreaks of gunfire that sent people running for cover in a downtown neighborhood. when it was over, three people were dead and two others had to be hospitalized. for now, police will only say that the incidents appear to be unrelated. well, we have reported before about the massive anlt of debris from japan's tsunami, making a debris field about the size of california. right there on your screen. all of that, making its way toward the u.s. west coast. some bad news from a hearing on capitol hill yesterday about all of this. states will likely wind up footing the bill for debris removal efforts, not the federal government. that's not what california, in particular, needs to hear, as

that state continues to deal with a severe budget crisis. a northern california man is fighting for his life, after he spent a full week unconscious under dense brush near a busy highway. michael sanchez's wrecked pickup was discovered on may 8th. but sanchez was nowhere to be found. it was only after relatives filed a missing persons report, that detectives went back to the scene and finally found him, barely alive. for now, sanchez is on life support. and now, we have some sports news. the thursday night highlights from espn. >> good morning. i'm hakem dermish, with your "sportscenter" update. first quarter, pacers up 9-2. paul george. 48 seconds left to play in the half. lebron james, big-time dunk. score tied at 43-43. third quarter, wade, his first
