to expect. flames were shooting from the warehouse. cans of food stored on the up are floor were exploding but that's not what good at police controlled. on the ground floor firefighters discovered a large marijuana growing operation. nearly 500 plants, a lighting grid and ventilation system to filter away any pot odor. >> i was just really amazed we had a grow house or grow warehouse in our neighborhood. i was like really shocked. >> reporter: other neighbors recalled seeing what they thought was restaurant equipment in and out. >> all covered so used for storage and nothing smelled. >> reporter: firefighters discovered wiring that apparently powered the marijuana operation, which presented challenges when they started their attack. >> when you're at a large growing operation you don't know

how they're getting their electrical source and so we had pg&e come out and cut off the electricity to both buildings. >> the firefighters have been to this location in the past with tragic results inch 1999, a firefighter was killed. le this afternoon, police pulled out a few marijuana plants but were waiting for the water to stop dripping from the top noor before finishing the job. the fire started on the top floor in a food warehouse. the cause is undetermined and investigators are not sure whether or not the electrical system for the marijuana grow was even a factor. police are trying to track down the people renting the space. >> ama: oakland police want to find out more bat shooting we told you about at 5:00. two people were shot at 45th 45th and west streets this afternoon. someone then trev -- drove both

victims to the hospital. there's no word on the conditions of the victims. investigators believe at least 16 shots were fired. police have not made any arrests i. oakland police are looking for this man. has san. wanted for running from police during a vehicle stop and threatening officers with a gun. officers fired at has san so he may be injured. >> alan: cooler temperatures are helping crews battle fires across the west in colorado, wildfire scorched 12 square miles and 80 residents have return today their homes. the blaze is 45% contain. the fire was started bay camper using an outdoor stove. there's other fires in california, nevada, new mexico and utah and wildfires in california. the grass fire burned just south of sacramento that came close to several homes but it was put
