this investigation. sierra disappeared on friday morning, march 16th. her cell phone and purse found within 48 hours, now, we know dna evidence found on her clothes in that purse came back as a match to garcia-torres on march 28. the sheriff's office immediately put him under 24 hour surveillance. on april 7, they seized his red jetta and began collecting more evidence. sheriff deputy as rested the morgan hill resident after getting additional lab results from the car. >> we had received the evidence back on the vehicle that we've seized earlier, lab takes a long time. there are many more things that currently are with the lab. >> the sheriff says the case against garcia torres is strong, detectives do not know where to find sierra. without the final evidence, sierra's mother says she will continue to believe her daughter could be alive. >> i'm not giving up hope.

new research finds a link between liver damage and certain supplements. a study focused on sup memts taken for weight loss looked at 109 cases of liver damage and found in every case, people reported using supplements. the study doesn't conclude it causes damage but does show an association and it's believed 40% of the u.s. population takes herbal supplement autos doctors say a growing trend among runners is causing an increase in foot injuries. more people are trying barefoot running shows. -- shoes. some support the running saying people tend to land too hard on heels when wearing shoes and without them there is better input but doctor says there are more cases of stress fractures. >> it's scary that people are going out and running without the proper support. it's like saying i have bad vision and i need glasses but i'm going to try to squint to make myself have stronger vision.

investigators are confident they have sierra lamar's killer in custody. they arrested him last night. >> the teen disappeared more than two months ago. investigators acknowledge a series of events that led to the developments. >> the discovery of sierra's cell phone, her clothing. and what she wore that day. and her personal belongings contributed to our belief that she is a victim of murder. >> i would like to think that the -- thank the community outreaching to find sierra and all of their time and efforts

that have gone into this z their prayer autos the 15-year-old disappeared on friday, march 16th. she was last seen leaving for school around 6:30 a.m. she sent a text to a friend a cell phone that morning and never arrived at school and has not been seen since. the next day search and rescue teams began spreading out over a three-mile area surrounding her rural home. and they found her cell phone several blocks beyond the bus stop. on march 18th volunteer searchers found her purse about two miles from her house. inside of it a pair of pants, tee shirt and under garments, neatly folded. 10 days later police classified the case as a possible abduction. we know it's the day investigators began 24 hour surveillance of torres, after dna evidence from her bag was linked to him.

to do what we call a no body homicide with just specks of blood from a defendant vehicle. and in three decades technology has advanced and we can prove time of death and manner of death by forensic evidence. we don't know what other evidence they may have in this case. so yes. these are proveable case autos we're learning more about garcia-torres's background. and how will this play a role? >> there are a number of ways. first of all they may give the incidents that may give rise to new charges. and this prior incident may be a factor in deciding whether to seek the death penalty. and in addition, it f.they're similar in any way if they show a signature these could possibly be substantive evidence of guilt. >> we're just hearing he could
