tonight on "nightline," revenge online. from kim kardashian to the girl from "glee," lots of stars have been embarrassed when nude pictures of them showed up on the web. now it's happening to ordinary people, uploaded by exes without their consent. and tonight donald driver won the coveted mirror ball in the hotly anticipated "dancing with the stars" finale. we look back over the last seven years and ask, what does it really take to win? plus, queen for a day. katie couric gets a rare, royal

invitation to meet the queen and chat with harry and will. tonight she tells diane sawyer all about hanging with the royals. >> good evening. i'm cynthia mcfadden. tonight the new frontier in very, very public humiliation. an online world where websites offer suspicious spouses and jilted lovers, the clans to exact revenge. calling out cheaters, even posting nude photos, without the subject's consent. while it may be illegal to upload those pictures, it's not illegal for the website to post them. neal neal karlinsky went inside the dirty business of shame.

♪ >> reporter: heather morse is best known for her role on "glee." but you if you google her name, she's infamous for nude photos posted online, addeding her to a list of squeaky clean stars caught up in nude photos they say were leaked or hacked and put online. but it's not just the famous. if you've ever taken a naughty picture of yourself and texted or e-mailed it to a lover, prepare to get a chill down your spine. >> it never stops. people are submitting all the time. >> reporter: hunter moore is the 26-year-old web renegade. >> got my alcohol taken care of for the rest of the week. >> reporter: his website is anyone up, designed for public humiliation on a scale only the internet can offer.

>> it's where revengeful exes come for peace of mind. >> reporter: what does that mean? >> your ex-give who you've done dirty, she can come to my site and we'll take care of her. >> reporter: it was designed so people could post dirty pictures of their exes online, without their permission, for everyone to see. just to make sure the people could be easily identified, the page included a screen-grab of the victim's facebook account and link to their twitter as well. he calls it revenge porn. >> public humiliation. >> yeah, it is. >> reporter: and you are fine with blasting out and basically ruining in some cases, other people. >> to me, i don't know these people. it's kind of anonymous to me. the people submitting it are the ones who should be feeling bad when they click that submit button. >> reporter: so you have no empathy? >> no. they're characters on a screen.

>> reporter: he's apparently not the only one bho feels that way because our visit opened the door to a weird world where online humiliation and revenge are a growing industry. a phenomenon which took our story in an unexpected direction. but first, you may be wondering, can moore legally get away with this? >> under current federal law, he's completely off the hook. >> reporter: just as youtube and facebook host other people's content, is anyone up falls into the same category, the person submitting it is liable, not the website. >> generally speaking the information provided by a third party is not something you can sue the website for. >> reporter: hunter bragged to us about the cease and desist letters and complaints he received from people's lawyers, arguments he claimed didn't hold up. he even boasted about the woman who came to his door looking for venge. >> i was walking out of nowhere and out of nowhere, the girl we

had posted she stuck me in the shoulder with a big pen. this is the scar i have left. they had to surgically remove it. >> reporter: he told us, nothing could stop him. i reply back with lol. >> reporter: kayla law is one of hunter's many humiliated victims. here's the problem. she says she had nude photos of herself on her computer, but never sent them to anyone. >> i had taken the photos of myself. i had stored them on my computer, just for no reason at all. >> reporter: so how did they end up on his site? kayla said she was hacked. >> it's embarrassing that people can see that picture of me. >> this is the file on hunter moore. >> reporter: hunter may have hit the wrong victim this time because her mother is a private investigator. >> we sent the dees and desist

and take-down notice and he basically said screw off. >> reporter: then, out of nowhere, the site was sold, and redirected to bullyville, an anti-bullying website. when we tracked down the man who made it happen, we found a businessman and former marine who says he did a public service by shutting down despicable content. >> so you shut it down. you say, as a public service. >> there's no doubt about it. >> reporter: by taking over his site, he instantly brought in two million visitors to his new venture, which by the way, is closely tied to another revenge-based website he owns, something called cheaterville. >> there's a full day of just alleged cheaters. >> reporter: a website where anyone can accuse someone of cheating and there's no proof required. >> did you shut it down for the public good? because it's a website with a

huge built in audience. you're laurching another site. you got a lot of eyeballs. >> given the subscriber base he had, that's not the type of people i want to bullyville. they're going to have to like bullyville. >> reporter: yet his business is a cleaner version of hunter's revenge porn. it turns the practice of outing alleged cheaters into sport. >> it was not started maliciously. it was designed to warn people. and i'm never going to change that thought. because that's what i believe in. >> cherylin didn't stop with the cease and desist letter. she contacted the fbi all to prove her theory that his site included stolen material. >> it wasn't a porn site. it was a site about humiliating and hurting people. >> reporter: the fbi won't comment on hunter or his site, but he denies all of it and says he's never hacked anyone's naked pictures. >> i think at some point you might look back at the person

with the win. with donald's win half of the past 14 winners frrks skaters and gymnasts to football players and race car drivers, have been elite athletes. >> these people that come in that are completely in perfect physical shape, they're used to this kind of competition. of course they're better geared for it. they're dedicated, know how to focus and keep their eye on the prize and they know how to pull off all the moves without bursting a blood vessel or hurting their back. >> reporter: perhaps it's the willingness to put in the long hours of training. maybe it helps that william levy played college baseball. you work out six hours a day dancing. how does that compare to when you were a baseball player? >> i mean, i used to practice a lot. so you know, in a way, it's kind of the same thing. dancing, you have to work, actually on not getting stronger. you got to work at getting softer, which is weird for a

it's a very special time for queen elizabeth ii and her grandsons as she celebrates 60 years of rule with her diamond jubilee. becoming only the second monarch to ever reach this milestone. well, today, abc's katie couric had a rare invitation to buckingham palace to meet the queen. earlier she told our colleague diane sawyer what the queen is really like. >> she's actually quite soft-spoken and very -- everyone has used the word humble to describe her. and i think she carries herself, as we've seen, you know, for many, many years, with such quiet dignity and grace and humility. i had no idea what to expect. she looked beautiful with a peach coat on, a lovely peach hat, made by the same person who created this fascinator which
