cross paths with paul ryan who will be in san francisco tomorrow. wife of suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi has granted her first interview to the abc7 news i-theme. dan noyes traveled to venezuela over the -- weekend and has this report. >> reporter: caracas venezuela is a world away interest the scandal that has consumed sheriff ross mirkarimi and his wife eliana lopez. she has come with her 3-year-old son to escape the spotlight to be with her family and consider her future. >> maybe i will get divorced with ross. but i'm very close with him in this fight. this is about justice itch >> reporter: after years of acting on stage television and film, eliana became an activist. she met ross at an environmental summit in brazil. >> he was following me during the conference. >> reporter: he was smitte

later madison broke the news she called police. she also turned over the video. >> i came out of house because i was looking for the car and i was in my cell phone and then i found her in front of me to telling me eliana you are going to kill me i called the police. they are coming here and you have to talk with them. eliana is still fighting the video's release so she is hesitant to comment on its contents. court documents says this is the second time this is happening. did he do this before? did he grab you before? >> no no. >> reporter: eliana told me she was referring tou last big argument the year before when they discussed divorce. ross mirkarimi was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence battery child endangerment and dissuading a witness he plea bargained to a lesser charge. the mayor is pushing the commission to remove mirkarimi as shirley. eliana believes politics are

hour. the man accused of kidnapping and killing sierra lamar is scheduled to face a judge tomorrow. this morning friends and family of the 15-year-old will gather again for a new search. terry mcsweeney is live in morgan hill. the search comes despite the fact that suspect is accused of murder. >> reporter: exactly. there's a searcher here already a volunteer first time she has looked for sierra lamar. i talked to her a moment ago she says she believes sire sir is alive perhaps forced into a life of prostitution but definitely alive. that's not what sheriff's investigators will tell you. they tell you she has been killed and they know who did it. look at the man who investigators say kidnapped and kid -- and killed sierra lamar 21-year-old antolin garcia-torres he has been charged. the girl has been missing since march 16th.

investigators have physical evidence found in garcia-torres' jetta dna evidence from lamar's purse ties the two together. his family says he's . investigators believe the two did not know each other. his family says they still don't know each other. >> there's no information that we have of any type that the two know each other have had any contact. we believe this is the worst kind of a crime a stranger abduction of a young girl. >> he said it was a surprise for him too he say he never see the girl. >> reporter: the search goes on today. investigators say garcia-torres has a previous record within for interfering with a police officer, also a felony -- assault those charges were dropped. he's a suspect in a 2009 assault. divers will be back looking for a body. volunteers head out of here

forced the highway patrol and crews to respond to help clear the scene. crews needed three chainsaws to cut up that tree. san francisco police need help finding the people involved in an attack at golden gate park that left a man in critical condition sunday after the beta breakers race. the victim and his friends started fighting with another group of a dozen the men in that group were wearing 9ers jerseys. police ask you to give them a call if they sound familiar. at a public safety meeting in oakland last night things got a bit out of hand. occupy oakland members shouted down the committee last night forcing them to adjourn before they could vote on a controversial proposal it would ban tools of violence which includes shields slingshots hammers and other tools.

people who travel you don't have to have family overseas. consumer reports investigation into calling cards find offers vary widely there are some deals but you need to pay attention to the fineprint. mary uses cards to call her family in the dominican republic. she complaints she doesn't always get as much calling time as she expects. >> i get really angry because i think it is not fair. >> reporter: consumer reports analyzed more than 130 prepaid phone cards. most cost just two to five dollars they look like bargains. consumer records found lots of problems. >> 3/4 of the cards we looked at didn't tell you how much it cost to make a call. usually never found out until you were on the phone. >> reporter: consumer records found the amount of calling time varies tremendously. these cards both cost two dollars. this one gave us 200 minutes to call mexico city. this one only 5 minutes.

and there can be a lot of fees which may be listed on the back in tiny type. those prepaid card fee include a fee for connecting or disconnecting. calling on a cell phone or from a pay phone. there can even be a daily maintenance fee. >> the fees can eat into the value of the cards. >> reporter: in some cases consumer reports was able to get the fees reversed, only after calling customer service. >> if you frequently make calls overseas, there are better alternatives. >> reporter: you can use skype to call overseas for modest rates which are clearly spelled out on skype's website. if like george you and the person you are calling both have internet the call can be free. consumer reports has another option for people who regularly call overseas. use an international calling
