and the track is on track to reopen. crews have just completed installing a new expansion joint on the western part of the bridge's main span helping the bridge bend instead of breaking should we be hit by a major earthquake. there are crews now cleaning up a $60 billion project that should be done by next year. >> if you missed it here it is again. the fire works show that lit up the sky last night celebrating golden gate bridge's 75th birthday. only the second time fire works were set off and the first time accompanied by a light show. we've posted more on abc 7 news.com. and it's on the home page.

>> this afternoon, research on organ transplants shows a diseased lungs of smokers are better than nothing at all this, study done in briten, 40% come from people who smoked. findings show people live longer if they're willing to accept lungs from anyone, including smokers. there have been questions about whether the policies can be changed but doctors say that would lead to a spike in the number of people who die while waiting for donated lungs. >> a child's friends have a lot to do with how active he or she s researchers studied hundreds of children and found children less active buddy up with kids who do a lot of running around and playing less active kids get more physical activity. researchers believe finding koz lead to the development of new strategies to encourage kids to move.
