mass transit everybody is on time, n judah working again, new ferry you will hear from amy hollyfield about that in a couple of minutes. developing news out of san francisco. police investigating a shooting that has left one person in critical condition. the shooting happened 2:15 this morning in the bayview district. the victim was taken to san francisco general. no word on motive. officers are still investigating. new this morning, firefighters are watching for any flare-ups from a grass fire in pittsburg it broke out 7:30 last night when firefighters arrived the flames had burned a quarter of an acre. the flames briefly threatened some nearby homes but no injuries. new ferry service wants to take you for a wide, for free. the boats begin their inaugural run from east bay to

the peninsula in about an hour. amy hollyfield is live in alameda with the story. how long is this free ride for? >> reporter: this is a good week for bargain hunters they are going to let you take a free ride all weeklong. pay attention, this is the week you've been waiting for. instead of paying $14 for round-trip you can take it for free for this week. they are hoping this will be an offer that you can't refuse. that you will come out and try the service, see what you think of it. if is -- this is the first new ferry service since 1992 and will connect the peninsula to the east bay. some peninsula companies are creating the new service with enthusiasm. >> we've been working closely with genentech and commute.org and they are going to be providing shuttles which will meet the arriving ferry passengers and take them to their employee locations from the ferry terminal and bring them back in the afternoon. >> reporter: the ride will be

about a 40 -- about 40 minutes long. taking people from jack london square and alameda to south san francisco, it is $14 round-trip. again free this week. the first one leaves this morning in alameda at 6:25. they hope event actually 375 people will ride this ferry everyday. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. 5:34. pablo sandoval's return to the line-up may hinge on whether sexual assault charges are filed against him. a woman claims the 25-year-old assaulted her early friday morning at the seascape resort in santa cruz. she met him in santa cruz he was seen leaving the bar and restaurant after one in the morning with two men, but the manager tells abc7 news that he did not see women leaving

with them. his attorney says the sexual encounter was consensual. >> this type of case is usually anything but rock solid it depends on the credibility of witnesses, whose credibility, whose believe ability, whose ability to remember is put in -- put in question, because of the context in which this kind of crime occurs. >> sheriff officials interviewed sandoval they say he's been cooperative with the investigation. in a few hours a san francisco judge is due to sentence edwin ramos for the 2008 murders of a father and two of his sons in -- he faces a maximum of life without row a jury convicted him on three counts of first degree murder for the shooting deaths of the father and his two sons. prosecutors call it a revenge shooting ramos mistakenly thought they were rival gang members. ramos admitted diving the car used in the shootings, but
