strip mall. amy hollyfield is live at center road and berk street with more. >> reporter: look behind me. police have roped off the strip mall on center road. the karaoke bar is located deep inside the mall we don't have a good glimpse from where we are standing because it is straight down. you can see where the police are gathered in front as they are conducting their investigation.xuk% several people were inside the bar when it happened. most of them got out quickly. they did not want to comment. the victim 24-year-old man killed outside the club around 2:30 this morning. police tell us they don't know yes was shot. they have not made any arrests. we are told that a lieutenant is on the scene and will be coming out to brief us this morning. stay with us as we continue following this breaking news story. police have not released the name of the victim they are waiting to notify his relatives. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> developing news.

suspect in custody after leading several law enforcement agencies on a chase through contra costa county. the chase began in bay point last night officers spotted a car they believe was stolen -- sorry we don't have that video, it was a pick-up truck that was suspected stolen sparks flew from the wheels possibly from the vehicle hitting a spike strip it continued before ending on highway 68 ozone valley proceed in alamo. the driver was traveling between 50 and 55 miles per hour. in will have a live report. we'll get the video at 5:30. federal health officials racing to find the source of a mysterious and deadly new outbreak of e. coli before it spreads. katie marzullo is live with the latest. >> reporter: that's the good news, no cases reported yet in california. bad news is, authorities don't

right now people are starting to gear up to grill this summer. just about 5:04. santa cruz sheriff's office says it could take weeks to complete their investigation and determine whether giants' al star pablo sandoval will be charged in an alleged sexual assault case. he was questioned last friday after being accused by a 21-year-old santa cruz county woman. he had been on the disabled list following surgery to remove a broken bone in his wrist. giants expect him to return tuesday. wife of embattled sheriff ross mirkarimi is fighting the city's decision to release a video showing the bruise her husband gave her during an argument. she has filed a misconduct complain against mayor lee with the ethics commission. she says charges against her husband are politically motivated. yesterday a superior court judge ordered the mirkarimi's defense team to turnover

cell phone records from december 31st through january 13th, they include text messages and e-mails between the sheriff and his wife as well as his campaign manager and three neighbors. officials have denied the sheriff's request to have the city pay for his legal costs in the ongoing misconduct proceedings. governor brown and top state democrats are meeting behind closed doors trying to hammer out a proposed budget by the deadline a week from today. they are trying to find alternatives to two billion dollars in cut welfare and child care and home care for the disabled and elderly that the governor is proposing. republicans are criticizing the democrats for not holding traditional hearings to hammer out a plan. california is facing nearly 16 billion dollars in deficits. series of e-mails posted on the internet exposes a sex scandal involving president obama's nominee to be u.s. ambassador to iraq. e-mails sent in 2008 between national security council

member and a wall street journal reporter exposes their extramarital affair. he was married to another woman then has since divorced and he and the woman have married. e-mails are raising concerns about his character and whether he divulged information he shouldn't have. jake tapper withville more on the e-mails coming up on gma at 7:00. new concern that the state might aren't short of electricity this summer because of the ongoing shutdown of a southern california nuclear plant. the san on know plant began -- the plant began having problems in january with leaking tubes that carry radioactive water. it would likely keep both units off-line through august for a federal investigation. warning of possible rolling blackouts should a heatwave hit that could send power grid managers scrambling to find alternative sources of power.

good morning. 5:22. baseball scores. giants beat the padres yesterday 8-3. a's defeated the rangers at the coliseum 7-1 again. a's play diamondbacks in arizona tonight. giants begin a rematch against the rangers at home this weekend. it is 5:23 now. muni officials in san francisco planning to install 400 smart cameras in and around muni metro subway stations and tunnels. the chronicle reports the project funded with federal grants set to begin next summer. the cameras could help prevent accidents like the one in january when a driver drove into the train tunnel. cameras will be programmed to detect unusual behavior and alert authorities. the 3 1/2 million dollar

officers still focused on that area in front of the karaoke bar deep inside the strip mall. there's a pharmacy here. insurance company, nail salon this is on center road at burke. it happened 2:30 this morning. the bar cast crowded, a lot of people coming out after it happen. people scattered, a lot got out quickly. we did see police trying to interview a group of young people earlier. no one wanted to comment about what happened, at least to us. 24-year-old man was shot dead. police don't know why he was killed. they haven't released his name they are trying to get ahold of his family and notify them. officers have a large crime scene van here on the scene, very focused on the area here conning their investigation. they haven't told us what they know about the suspect or suspects or any leads. we are still waiting to get

briefed. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. it want high speed but high drama as the chp chases suspected car thief 15 miles through the east bay. this morning we have new video and information on the driver. terry mcsweeney is live where the chase ended. >> reporter: i'm here on stone valley road 680 where the sparks were flying i don't mean that figuratively. take a look and a listen. police say it is the sound of a stolen pick-up truck riding on its rims. it took 20 minutes to go 16 miles from bay point here to al know was not a high speed chase by any stretch of the imagination. the chase wagon going on until

police threw outstrips. -- the guy never went faster than 50 or 55 miles an hour throughout the 20 minute drive. now take a look at where this came to an end not far from where i am 680 in alamo. arrest going on the suspect in a chp car and you are going to be seeing the cap that he wore and it says "certified dope." i'm not saying the chp said that about him, that's what his cap says. he's under arrest. he's not going to be getting a speeding ticket there never was any, officers are saying that pick-up truck was stolen. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. 5:32. the concord police department is recommending that a teenager be charged with felony vehicular manslaugher in an accident that killed a

daughter. we are not showing the 17-year-old because he's a minor. prosecutors will now decide what the teen should be charged with this the deaths. -- charged with this the deaths. they were riding their bikes april 7th, the teen lost control of his vehicle which jumped a curb and hit them. a business own area cross the street from where the crash happened says the tragedy has cast a shadow over the community. >> i don't know whether he had anything in his system that caused any of it or texting or any of that kind of stuff. i just know that you know, everyone is a victim in this whole thing. and most of all the family that lost the father and daughter. detectives analyzed data from the suv's sensors and reviewed whether the driver was distracted or under the influence of drugs or alcohol. in santa clara county police investigating whether the suspect in the sierra lamar case may have tried to prey on other children before. antolin garcia-torres is in

jail accused of kidnapping and killing the 15-year-old morgan hill girl. he's being investigated for assault at a safeway parking lot in morgan hill three years ago. police are looking to whether the man in a composite sketch who tried to lure four children in two incidents last sumner in gilroy is garcia-torres. police won't say if garcia-torres is a suspect in those incidents. they did say the whereabouts of the potential suspect are known and poses no threat to the public. >> gives me chills thinking about it. sometimes it takes unfortunately, multiple crimes or attacks or attempts before something like that is put to an end. >> meanwhile, in the sierra lamar case, the public defend was assigned to garcia-torres stepped down yesterday citing a conflict of interest. friends and family of a teenager shot to death by police in south san francisco are accuse police of racial pro fewing. they gathered last night at arco station where an officer shot 15-year-old derrick

gaines of san bruno his family says police overreacted. gaines and a friend were walking by the station on westborough boulevard when they were stopped by an officer for what police called suspicious behavior. gaines ran and pointed a gun at policeman who shot him. police say they recovered a gun at the scene but have not said whether it was loaded. warning to residents about a new rash of catalytic convertermfr thefts from parked vehicles part of the exhaust system that can fetch more than $100 ad0w piece at scrap yards. the sheriff's office says six thefts occured the past three nights. thieves target toyotas because those vehicles are higher up so the converters are easier to reach. alameda county prosecutors not to file charges against seven of the nine occupy the farm protesters arrested last

and beach, there's enough water and flooding in the lanes that they going to have to reroute muni around the area. this looks like it will impact at least the f line possibly some buses if you are driving you want to avoid those streets. also early morning accident south 101 cesar chavez off-ramp, a postal truck the trailer became dislodged it damaged the guardrail. it is the guardrail repair work that is blocking the connection to cesar chavez. off-ramp open bay shore boulevard closure for cesar chavez in place until 9:30 this morning. the other hot spot, northbound 880 in oakland at oak street. an earlier crash took out a bunch of sand barrels, they are still trying to clear that. right lane blocked as well as off-ramp. minor slowing at the scene at this point not worth heading to 580.

welcome back. friday morning. 5:43. residents in one neighborhood are frustrated by the job the police are doing they say downsize something leaving them vulnerable. since march residents say there have been six to eight break-ins in the berryessa area. this woman is a victim who does not want to be identified. she says police ignored principles she thinks belonged to theburg -- ignored prints she thinks belonged to the burglar. >> the police are not willing to track down who this is. >> we have six detectives for a city of million people on average they are getting 200 to 300 residential burglary cases a month. >> as for the fingerprints

police say the database is facing a huge backlog and could take years before returning results in nonviolent crimes without suspect information. drivers in san francisco, you need to slow down on four major streets near the bay bridge. lower speed limits have just been posted in the south of market and tenderloin. 25 mile per hour signs are posted along howard, folsom, harrison and bryant between the embarcadero and the central freeway. the old limit was 30. the transportation agency decided to slow things down after studying driving speeds and volume for the number of homes and business. we want to correct a story we brought you earlier about war aren't buffett and the power lunch he offers to help glide memorial. bidding is still going on for that lunch with the billionaire investor. the money raised will benefit san francisco's glide foundation which is part of the glide memorial church. last year's winning bid was
