of the rescue of the man. what we are hearing moments ago from a muni spokesman is the man was trying to board the street carr possibly over or going through a railing to do it and he fell and went down, got underneath the streetcar. the fire department called the heavy rescue engine. they managed to get that streetcar up. i talked to eyewitness who saw how the man's leg was not run over by the wheels of the streetcar but it was very close. >> yes, the rear wheels on his left leg. that's why they couldn't get him out. he couldn't get himself out he was stuck under there pretty good. >> reporter: mr. perry had to comment and a number of others did at how rapid the response was from not only police to block off market between 7th and 8th, also the fire department getting out here.

the man has nonlife-threatening injuries. again, that very heavy streetcar did not roll over all the way across his leg partially ran over his leg. i the driver stopped. i saw the driver taken away clearly shaken up. if there is to be good news, the man has nonlife-threatening injuries. i am told by a spokesman from muni that market street between 7th and 8th is going to be reopening in a matter of minutes. this investigation is about to wrap up. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. breaking news from napa. a driver was trapped almost two hours this morning a water truck ended up at the bottom of a canyon at rossi road and state road 8:30 this morning. the truck was watering the road for a new winery opening in the area. a construction worker heard the driver yelling for help

and called emergency services. firefighters worked in rough terrain they had to carry him up an embankment. his injuries are described as moderate to major. more breaking news from the north bay. highway patrol needs your help to find the pick-up truck driver who drove away after hitting a bicyclist. the accident happened around 8:35 this morning. the bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries. witnesses describe the truck as being a champagne colored half ton pick up possibly a ford or chevy. the truck had a broken right headlight and missing a mirror on the right side. triple crown hopeful, "i'll have another" has pulled out of tomorrow's belmont stakes the horse is suffering tinnitus in the front left leg. the horse was going for the

first triple crown sweep since 1978. the trainer says it is not clear when the colt will be able to return to the track. developing news from fisherman's wharf. a water main break has left several businesses high and dry, including a hotel. katie marzullo is live at fisherman's wharf. >> reporter: take a look, they were still digging to get to the pipe, loud and messy out here it doesn't smell that good. but, until they get to that pipe and fix it, there's a one square block area that going to be without water for several more hours. to look for a break in a water main you have to turn on the water that is what is happening here. the water began bubbling up from below the asphalt 4:30 this morning it flowed for an hour until crews could shut it off, there was no water from that point on. >> right now we have the 2600 block of mason and the 0 to

morning after leading several law enforcement agencies on a chase through contra costa county. it began 10:00 last night. sparks knew from the pick-up truck after the drier hit a spike strip on i-680. the pursuit began when officers say she spotted a car they believe was stolen. -- the driver didn't get above 55 miles an hour most of the time. he brought the car to a stop and surrendered. developing news. san jose police say they have a strong lead in the search for a person who shot and killed a man outside a karaoke bar near center road. amy hollyfield is live near the scene with the latest. >> reporter: police sound confident they haven't made any arrests yet they are still working on the investigation. they are still at the scene. part of the strip mall is still closed and they are still interviewing witnesses at the club last night.

police say it was crowded at the time of the shooting. when san jose police arrived at the karaoke bar this morning they realized they would be dealing with more than just a shooting. they to figure out now calm all potential witnesses. >> -- initially, individuals were not being cooperative at the scene it was chaotic. >> reporter: police said the people coming out of bar were concerned and emotional about the fact that a man had been shot to death in the parking lot. officers deescalated the situation and convinced about a dozen to go to the station and give statements. >> this isn't a case of whodunit. we have strong leads. detectives hope they will pan out. hopefully by the end of the day. >> >> reporter: the shooting happened in a large strip mall on center road and south central san jose. one business owner said her alarm system went off

today president obama held a news conference and shifted some of the blame for the should go job market to congress saying their failure to act on-the-jobs bill is costing the country.

he also spoke about the situation in europe. karen travers has more. >> reporter: president obama said today the u.s. economy is facing strong head winds but there are steps that can be taken right now to get americans back to work. >> the president: it is critical that we take the actions we can to strengthen the american economy, right now. >> reporter: u.s. employment started strong at the beginning of the year. the number of jobs gain has fallen every month, since. the president said the european debt crisis is a significant concern because of major impact it has on the u.s. economy. >> the president: the sooner they act and the more decisive and concrete their actions the sooner people and markets will regain some confidence and the cheaper the costs of cleanup will be down the road. >> reporter: mr. obama reiterated his now familiar push for congress to pass more elements of his 447 billion dollar jobs bill which has stalled on capitol hill nearly a year because of fierce opposition from republicans.
