hoses -- houses and that is probably a smart idea those of us that covered wildfires know that eucalyptus are highly flammable this, is a hilly, dense terrain and lots of trees and that is why cal fire began water drops so quickly. the drops apparently worked, putting out a blaze in no time. some 7,000 people are with out power. that is because again, that car plowed into a pg&e utility pole. two good samaritans. first ones to respond to the driver and they saw a woman clutching her chest apparently suffering a medical condition. they came to her aid. and this is what they told me what they did after that. >> and ashley and i were getting ready to go beyond where the pole was.

the electrical pole collapsed and there are flames everywhere. and the police officer said "get out of there now" so we ran. there are live wires surrounding us. >> and i was wearing sandals. >> and the fire department held a briefing and they did credit these two ladies with responding quickly, and calling the fire department 911 quickly. that is why the fire department brought this water drop and engines here so quickly. the fire threatened homes here in the oakland hills, mopping up operations now. the fire is started to pull down, we're told some other utility poles in the area and so that is why this is going to take time before people here get power back.

zoo that is live team coverage on this. talking with some evacuated residents we're going to start with vic lee. he this was the first wildfire in oakland's new fire season. the fire contained about 3:00 this afternoon burning less than two acres and at one point threatening homes, two in particular at the top of the hillside. firefighters as you said, really jumped in and got here quickly. and this is a hilly terrain. this is lots of trees and they're flammable. there cal fire began water drops and there is 100 firefighters evacuated about 20 residents. the chief said before they can put out the blaze.
