the fire quickly spread to about eight or nine acres, a total of 23 fire units were called out, 54 crew members, and cal fire wildland fire teams were here to help. thankfully the fire was contained by 3:30 or so. now, i was able to talk with some security teams at a nearby apartment complex where this fire was. we can come out here live. i can talk to you about what this fire was affecting. it actually did kind of get close to a rae time community -- retirement community, and i talked to a security team at an apartment complex, and they told me it has been windy out here. thankfully crews were able to snuff out the flames here. we have seen some of them come by to make sure everything is contained. so far there -- from what we have been able to see, no homes or structures were affected by the fire. reporting live in san jose.

>> ama: low humidity and high winds have much of the bay area under a high-fire danger. leigh glaser has a look at the areas under red-flag warning. >> leigh: the winds out of the north northeast as warm drying winds develop overnight so that has prompted red-flag warnings in effect until 11:00 tomorrow. gusts to 30, as much as 40 miles-per-hour, especially the higher terrain, north bay mountains, east bay hills and diablo range. relative humidity at 20-25% as the winds shift. things are going to dry out with relative humidity as low as 10%. hearst the -- here's the current wind speeds. in the last hour we rev seen a wind shift to more northerly. gusts, 22, santa rosa. check out livermore valley area,

northerly winds as winds shifting at 15 miles-per-hour. a look at a hot forecast coming up. >> alan: graduation ceremonies took place today in brentwood. minus about 70 seniors who were caught committing a year-end prank. lisa amin gulezian spoke to one senior about the hard lesson she is learning about the age of accountability. >> got to wearilies, cultural stuff, decorate our caps. >> jasmine was not allowed to attend the graduation at heritage high school today because of her role in the senior prank, and so she and more than 70 others went to an alternative ceremony. >> if i had the choice to walk at the school, i would have chose the separate graduation over walking at the school. >> reporter: the graduation ban is part of a punishment for what school officials are calling vandalism. students left paint prints over campus and chained a lam too a post overnight.

the school's principal had this to say during the week. >> consequences are being assigned to toes have been identified as being involved. >> reporter: so they and hundreds of family and friends missed this traditional milestone. >> i know a couple of them, and i was actually hoping to see them walk the stage with my class, but unfortunately they couldn't. >> reporter: in a rare move administrators called in brentwood police officers just in case. though there were no problems, this parent is sure there were lessons learned. >> you have to take the consequences for your actions, and that teaches them, too, when they grow up, that this is how it's going to be throughout your life. you can'ty just go and do stuff get away with it. >> i'm over it now. i realized we could have a better time by ourselves. >> even though the graduations are over, the issues are not. a judge will decide thursday whether to let the suspended students make up the final exams they missed.

in brentwood, lisa amin gulezian, abc-7 news. >> alan: right now oakland police are searching for a suspect who shot and critically injured a young man on a motor scooter this afternoon. it happened at 63rd avenue at 4:15 p.m. police say multiple shots were fired from a passing car. the suspects then sped away, leaving the victim in the street. the area has been cor don'ted off to traffic, and the victim was taken to the hospital. >> ama: three people face charges connected to a deadly shooting in san jose, two 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old man were arrested. officers arrest the three after their getway car was sported leaving the scene. they're suspected over being involved in a fatal shooting at a okay care yoke okay bar. a san jose man was killed. >> an arrest was made in a hit-and-run accident in sonoma county that left a man

critically injured. steven norwick, a professor at sonoma state university is in a coma after being hit yesterday morning on petaluma massachusetts hill road. an off-duty ploiferg spotted the pickoff with damage that matched the suspect's vehicle. he called police and cow with says he left the scene of the crash was he was late for late. >> alan: 11 dogs and several cats and six people are recovering after their rv burned up. the rv burst into flames while driving down the road in alameda county. the group, all from colorado, traveling up the coast to see the sights, when the fire protect out. one of the men inside the rv described what happened after someone alerted them there was fire. >> hopped up and started -- i started tearing stuff off the sink. more smoke, more smoke, and got a fire extinguisher that didn't work. it was like -- and then it's an

rv so just burns up fast. get the animals out. but we couldn't. >> alan: all the people got out safely but one dog and four cats died in the fire. the american red cross is helping the group find temporary shelter. >> an emergency landing on a golf course driving range in concord didn't affect golfers, a cessna has just taken off from buchanan field when it lost all engine power. the pilot tried to get back to the airport but landed 700 feet short of the runway. the plane was moved back, turned around, and removed from the range this afternoon. the national transportation safety board is investigating. >> san francisco giants third baseman pablo sandoval returned to the giants' lineup this afternoon, amid an ongoing sexual assault investigation. sandy val batted third and played third base during the game at at&t park this afternoon. he has been on the disabled list since early man. the santa cruz county sheriff's

office says it could take a couple more weeks to complete the investigation and decide whether sandoval will be charged in a sexual assault case. sandoval was questioned by authorities when a 21-year-old santa cruz woman accuse ud him of sexually assaulting her. >> chap chp officers have decided to furlough eight hours per month starting july 1st. the officers will not get paid for those hours but they can bank the hours to take later. the deal amounts to a 5% pay reduction. before now chp officers have never been fewer lowed. >> alan: may need to strike gold in order to afford 49ers tickets at the new stadium. >> ama: how much the latest batch of season tickets well go to. >> tall enough to get above the shooting table. >> alan: a family friendly firing range. the controversy over a new gun
