good monday morning, everyone. hope you had a fabulous weekend. a few more inches of rain expected to fall today along the florida and alabama gulf coast, adding to the miserable conditions. >> they could use some of that water in the southwest, where crews are still battling to contain two huge fires that have forced hundreds of folks out of their homes. firefighters in colorado are trying to slow a fast-moving wildfire that is burning out of control and expected to get worse today. hundreds of people evacuated. many spending the night in shelters. >> this is the largest displacement of home owners we have had in the history of this county. >> reporter: some were told they were safe and then had to leave in haurry. >> we had sheriff's deputies running up and down the road. making sure people got out.

>> we're all literally watching, playing it's not our house that we see go up in smoke. >> reporter: in new mexico, strong winds helped spread the flames quickly and grounded aircraft trying to battle the flames. >> the windy weather is not helping at all. getting resources here. >> reporter: in the southeast, all along the gulf coast, resident there is are dealing with record rain fall. many were stranded by the flood waters. some lost belongings. >> everything just got washed away. >> reporter: the flooding called a county jail near pensacola to lose power. forcing officials to consider whether anybody was eligible for early release. the "gma" team is covering the latest on all of this. they'll have live updates later today on "good morning america." now breaking news. sure to send shockwaves from

california to washington, d.c. >> the nation's commerce secretary is accused of two hit and run accidents over the weekend. >> he is in the hospital now, after being found alone and unconscious on saturday afternoon. >> there is no indication that drugs or alcohol are involved. no reaction from the white house. there are science u.s. markets will follow europe upwards today. >> good news, the trepd continuing. bailout comes just in the nick of time. >> reporter: the numbers are staggering in spain, far worse than unemployment here in america. unemployment there, 25%. for young people, a stunning 50%. now that spain has requested

help, that is helping to lift a huge cloud of uncertainty over the european economy. investors worried spain would pull down the euro as a whole and then the american economy with it. spain's willingness to ask for help is welcome news on wall street. >> i don't think spain will be the issue. they're happy to do what they have to do because the last thing they want to do is have a problem. >> reporter: the dow, anticipating spain would ask for this help, moved upward this is past year. an american 401(k) can $100,000 saved went up nearly $4,000 in a week. the other domino, greece. will they pull out of the euro zone? how about greece? has reality settled in? >> we have all lived through the

to public office soon. she was out campaigning for a former aide who is hoping to replace her after they were wounded in a shooting rampage in tucs tucson. the former penn state coach, jerry sandusky's trial starts today. if convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison. and today marx 50 years since one of the most daring prison breaks in american history. in 1962, three inmates set out from alcatraz island on a raft made of raincoats. they were never seen or heard from again. legend had it they would return on the 50th anniversary, today, if they are still alive. if they do, the u.s. marshall service says deputies will be on hand to arrest them. i'm going to guess they're probably not going to return. >> i'm going out on a limb to say once you get out of jail,

points. on wall street, the dow gained 436 points last week. the nasdaq index, meanwhile, up 111. and if you were watching auto racing yesterday afternoon, you may have witnessed history. twitter ran its first tv commercial during the poke know 500. it promoted a nascar page on twitter. the ad was aimed to show companies that twitter can be used as a successful advertising medium. it was a profitable weekend for hollywood. of auburn, auburn university. it's sickening that -- um -- these young lives were cut short. >> reporter: police responded to the scene around 10:00 p.m. after a fight broke out at a pool party and shots were fired. authorities say auburn football player eric mack was also shot. he remains in the hospital buzz is expected to recover. the suspected shooter? 22-year-old desmonte leonard. he lives in town but has no connections to the university. one of the three surviving wick tims is in the hospital fighting for his life after being shot in the head. meanwhile, authorities are urging the suspected gunman to turn himself in to police. john schriffen, abc news, new york. and in other new this is morning, a megachurch pastor is lashing out at police in

atlanta. creflo dollar was arrested and charged over the weekend after his daughter called 911. she told police and said he choked her, threw her to the ground. and punched her. >> the truth is, family conversation with your youngest daughter got emotional. she was not choked. she was not punched. i should have never been arrested. never. >> dollar was charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and crueltity to children. there's a shocking video posted online. a neighbor showed this vid know that appears to show the water authority head belting his son. the lawyer for sanchez admits the video is disturbing. but says all of the facts have yet to be revealed.
