still on the theme of fire danger. high fire danger has firefighters concerned that residents are not doing enough to clear thick and dry brush around their homes. crews have been able to keep bay area fires from exploding into disasters. this fire saturday was kept to five acres. some vulnerable homes are in marin county crews are going out talking to property owners about taking action now. >> yes, we have stuff hanging over. chimney here, branches there and here. >> nice, because we are able to [ inaudible ] they are reminding residents to keep 100 foot radius of defensible space around homes, keep tree branches 10 feet from structures and other trees and pine needles off rooftops. twitter in the process of moving into new headquarters

this week. new muni service begins to move employees from a transit hub to the new office. amy hollyfield is live on mid market street. >> reporter: good morning. let the revitalization of mid market begin. employees started packing up last week. they will start moving here this week some will have a ride here's the route the new 83 express it will carry people from the caltrain station at 4th and townsend to market between 8th and 9th where twitter will be located. keeping twiter in the city took deal-making. the city gave the company a tax break 1.5% city payroll tax exemption for the next six years. the company will be moving into a section of market that has a lot of vacancies and is run down. the hope is twitter will serve as an anchor tenant and others will follow.

he was taken to the hospital and is expected to live. -- san jose city officials holding a public hearing on manager's proposed budget and mayor reed's recommendation for the spending plan he says the city will be able do positive things after the council made tough decisions over the past few years. the mayor is -- recommending final adjustments allocating two million dollars in additional funding for gang prevention, investing more for street repairs and opening the four new libraries. california's flagship universities would drop numerous majors a recommendation. a report calls on the uc and csu systems to drop nearly 800 degree programs that graduate 10 or fewer students each year. the report says those programs are wasteful, especially when

mount diablo has the most critical winds now. no gusts in oakland hills that could change as the nature of gusts means they are not sustained but whip up from time to time. in red north bay mountains, east bay hills, diablo range critical fire conditions humidity levels very low, a lot of grass out there everything is brown nowadays and the wind so please be careful until 8:00. 5:32. northern california firefighters say extra resources for those red flag conditions are paying off. napa county firefighters were able to contain this fire to less than an acre it broke out yesterday at the clover flat landfill winds and dry conditions kept crews on scene. there were nine engines, three water tenders, helicopter and bulldozer available to the crews. no injuries were reported. the conditions sparked a

number of wildfires across the state. firefighters are battling a stubborn fire in san bernardino county, 20 acres have burned near apple valley, 50% contained. wildfire charred 120 acres and smaller fire burned 15 acres before it was contained. so far this year, calfire has battle 1600 fires more than twice as many as this time last year. other states are fire challenged too in colorado this fast growing forest fire west of fort collins forcing new evacuations. residents have been told to get out now because the fire threatens to cut off exit route. the high park fire has burned 20,000 acres since saturday morning a lightning strike is believed to have set it off, 250 firefighters are working the fire lines. a tiger will be on the prowl for a practice round prior to the u.s. open if you want to watch the pros parking will be scarce. taking your car may not be the

oakland estuary. this happened yesterday off doolittle near the airport. the woman managed to make it to shore safely appears to be uninjure. not clear why her car plunged into the water. the same thing happened two weeks ago to another driver. police think she took a turn too fast and overcorrected. new this morning, southern california authorities say u.s. commerce secretary john bryson has been cited for melanie hit-and-run following two accidents. he's being treated at a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries following the crashes saturday. supplies bryson was driving alone in san gabriel when he allegedly hit another car he apparently stopped to speak with the driver of the car then drove away. authorities say bryson caused a second collision minutes later. officers found bryson unconscious at this point they don't believe alcohol or drugs

were factors in the crashes. sacramento police think shooting deaths of four people inside a home saturday night was a gang attack. family and friends waited outside the home in the meadow view neighborhood while investigators worked inside. police believe the couple who lived there were the target but didn't say why. two houseguests were also shot. one victim survived. another man got into a shootout with the suspect, killing him. friends say the couple performed spirit actual healing right -- spirit -- a jury convicted 25-year-old edwin ramos in the shooting deaths of a man and two of his sons in june of 2008. prosecutors accused ramos of firing the fatal shots after mistaking one of the sons for being a rival gang member. ramos said another man pulled
