shooting through the roof. one theory is whether scatters were in that vacant home. amy hollyfield is going to the scene right now gathering information. she is going to join us with the latest in a little bit. the all-clear has been given allowing residents to return to a residential hotel in north beach. columbus avenue reopened 2:00 this morning where the bomb squad was called yesterday where police found suspicious explosives. they went to the block after a resident who lives there suffered a psychiatric episode. she told police she fired a gunshot earlier in the day. officers found a bullet hole in the door and forced their way in. inside they found possible explosives. new analysis of crime data punches holes in the mayor's 100 block crime fighting plan.

last october the mayor proposed preemptive policing in the most dangerous 100 blocks loosely defined on a map. the chronicle reports a new study by urban strategies says quan's plan only covers 17% of homicides and shootings. it says police would have to focus on 1300 blocks in order to reduce violence. tonight homeless advocates voice opposition to berkeley mayor's proposed ban on sitting on city sidewalks. the mayor wants to add sitting to an existing ban of lying on sidewalks. a group will address the council voters could decide whether sitting should be allowed on sidewalks between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. in commercial districts. the mayor wants the measure on the november ballot. san francisco police sharing a clue in the death of

a man who just finished the beta breakers race a picture of the people who confronted 31-year-old stephen martin during an argument over a cell phone in golden gate park. investigators someone in the group wearing a 9ers jersey sucker punched him, martin fell, hit his head and died friday after being taken off life support. police want to question the woman in the orange tutu and sunglasses and the man in a 49ers jersey and the other man wearing a black cap. >> we know these gentlemen were part of the second group of people that had the confrontation with martin and his friends. if we can get photos of the assault. >> martin lived in santa clara. he owned a business in san jose consulting for homeowners associations. closing arguments set to begin in the roger clemens federal perjury trial. the pitcher is accused of lying when he told congress in 2008 that he never used

steroids. the government wrapped up its case yesterday. clemens did not take the stand. jurors will have a mountain of evidence. the trial lasted nine weeks. jurors heard testimony from 46 witnesses over 25 days. testimony resumes this morning in the child abuse trial of former penn state assistant coach jerry sandusky. jurors are expected to hear more testimony from men who cezanne dust ski abused them as children -- one of his accusers told jurors the former football coach treated him like a son in public. but when they were behind closed doors, i was another story. the man who is now 28-years-old was the first of the alleged victims to testify yesterday. sandusky has maintained his innocence. a chunk of ice fell out of the sky and through somebody's roof in fremont. federal aviation officials are trying to track down the plane it happened late sunday

and 5:30. this is westbound 80 past powell, heading towards the maze. the closure doesn't go all the way into the maze on to the connection ramps. but lanes are blocked traffic slow through this area. we'll keep you posted on the back-up. it is supposed to be cleared this morning at 5. hopefully, we won't see too much of a delay. this is westbound 80 continuing towards the bay bridge. the connection ramps to 580 and 880, all open. we'll check out the bay bridge toll, light of course right now. there's a giants' game this evening 7:15, expect heavy traffic for that. extra traffic 280 between candlestick and the olympic park for extra traffic heading through the area right now flowing well, no problems on 280 and 101. of course, great way to get there is mass transit. no delays reported for bart. get off at the colma station for shuttles to the u.s. open.

fire investigators will be at the scene of a suspicious blaze that consumed a house last night. amy hollyfield is live in the 400 block of h street in martinez. >> reporter: good morning. take a look at the house it is still standing boarded up window. it looks good this morning considering what it looked like last night. check out this video fire was reaching 20 to 30 feet in the air last night this started 11:35 on h street in martinez. firefighters have their suspicions about this fire. this home has been foreclosed on and there had been reports of problems with squatters. there's no power at the house. arson investigators will be out here later this morning to try and figure out what happened. it appears the fire starred in the attic. fires opened up -- started in the attic. firefighters opened up the roof and the fire started roaring. they got it knocked down without major problems, no one

was hurt they didn't find anyone here at the time. now the question becomes how did an empty house with no power catch on fire? the arson team will be out here later this morning to try and figure that out. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. thanks. 4:45. party buses have become such a concern in san francisco that members of the community met last night to discuss what can be done about the rowdy crowds? here's one example of a party bus that roams through the streets of san francisco they can hold dozens of people and most drink alcohol. drivers park and unload on this two block stretch which is popular for bar-hopping. >> of course large crowds. heavily intoxicated. and the clubs are turning them away, not letting them in so they get rowdy and fights ensue. police are called and we witness this almost on a weekly basis.

sure what is going to be left of their homes when they go back. >> reporter: overnight, the vicious wildfire burning in the colorado mountains north of denver, grew to 41,000 acres. the flames racing towards home at 400 feet per minute. smoke so vast stretching into wyoming and nebraska. this morning firefighters hoping to report progress after officials said last night the blaze was zero percent contained. >> they were able to make progress on the southwest corner they've established an anchor point. >> knowing that we may not have much at the end of this is pretty daunting. >> reporter: in new mexico, similar story. firefighters battling out of control blazes, fanned by winds and drought. 435 square miles of forest have burned more than 1,000 people evacuated over the weekend. less than half of the fire has been contained. tahman bradley, abc news.

looks like our high fire danger has subsided after the past couple of days. mike is checking his doppler and computers to see what is going on with the winds. a lot of events today make sure i have everything loaded. fire danger low. the red flag warning expired 8:00 yesterday. winds pick up this afternoon maybe that would increase the fire danger it will be a cooler and wetter wind off the ocean the sea breeze will come back this afternoon. you can see san francisco there in the background sausalito, clear outside right now. in fact, live doppler showing a clear sky out there. no clouds to be found yet until you get to around monterey. those are going to move up our way shortly. signifying that the sea breeze is coming back to a few neighborhoods today.

i wanted to show you live shot of the maze traffic heading towards the maze all roadwork westbound 80 cleared. lanes blocked in my last report from powell out towards there and you see everything is gone, all lanes open, traffic flowing. no big back-up like the one we saw yesterday. here's a live shot of 680 in walnut creek. basically, a good ride everywhere this is southbound 680 near north main it continues to move nicely towards highway 24 and down through the san ramon valley and sanol grey. north bay -- headlights southbound past lucas valley exit that looks fine to the golden gate bridge. roadwork in novato, detours around the closure westbound 37 to 101 scheduled until 6:00 this morning. one more stop south bay everything is okay. northbound for headlights on 280 underneath highway 17. there's roadwork on highway 17 at the summit scheduled until
