have a great thursday. making news in america this morning -- >> medical manhunt. s.w.a.t. teams at the scene of a hospital killing. the suspect is a surgeon and a former army weapons expert. closing in. the nation's top cops for drugs in sports moves against cyclist lance armstrong. and this time, they say, they really got the goods on him. pitch-perfect. the giants' matt cain has the night of his life and enters the record books with the 22nd perfect game in history. and the hockey mom who had had enough of the brawling, walking out on the ice to speak her mind. and good thursday morning to

everyone. there is an intense manhunt in the buffalo area, for a doctor police warn could be armed and dangerous. >> timothy jorden is wanted, now, for shooting his ex-wife to death. he is a surgeon and an army weapons expert. he lowers the victim to a stairwell where she worked. and shot her four times at point-blank range. now, he's on the loose. >> we have s.w.a.t. teams from buffalo, amherst, new york state police, the county sheriff's department. still conducting searches of the one building. again, not a lot of information at this point. i want to stress, this was not a random act. but other than that, i really can't comment further on the investigation. >> now, friends of the victim say she feared for her life after breaking up with that doctor. we have a team, of course, working the story right now. they will have a live update coming up on "good morning america." now, to the jerry sandusky trial where the prosecution is expected to wrap up its case

tomorrow. >> case moving pretty quickly. three more young men, though, took the stand yesterday to describe in painful detail the abuse they claim to have suffered at the hands of the former coach. here's abc's diana perez. >> reporter: every dana the prosecution presents another witness, jerry sandusky's role of mentor to underprivileged boys is being further destroyed. the jury heard from three more alleged sexual abuse victims. now 25, a man known as victim ten, told jurors that at 11 years old, sandusky in a playful wrestling match in his basement, pulled down his pants and performed oral sex on him. i freaked out. i was scared, he testified. and, he says sandusky threatened him. he told me if i told anyone, i would never see my family again. the prosecution's next witness, known as victim seven, cold the jury about encounters that didn't evolve into sex. a third accuser told jurors he was assaulted only once.

also in the shower. >> to ingratiate the individual of this case, mr. sandusky, two youngsters, to have the youngsters feel comfortable. and then, to slowly progress. >> reporter: the defense cross-examined each witness the same way. questioning if they were motivated by money. and trying to find inconsistencies in their timeline. >> how can so many young men possibly be telling the same story when they haven't spoken to each other. >> reporter: and testimony of all of the accusers was supported by mike mcqueary, a former penn state assistant coach, who claimed he saw sandusky sexually assaulting a boy. diana perez, abc news, new york. and today, we'll show americans in the country, just how important ohio is to the november election. as mitt romney and president obama make stops there. here's abc's tahman bradley. >> reporter: today in the

battleground state of ohio, a high-stakes showdown between president obama and mitt romney over the economy. the candidates are expected to speak within minutes of each other. for mr. obama it's his first economic speech of the general election. and it comes amid fears by some democrats that his economic message is not working. speaking in washington yesterday, romney gave a prebuttal to the president's speech. >> my own view is he will speak eloquently. but the words are cheap. and that the record of an individual is the basis upon which you determine whether they should continue to hold on to their job. >> reporter: polls show the president is having a tough time selling his message. in a new abc news/"washington post" poll, 54% of independents have a negative view of the president's economic plan, to 38% positive. but romney's scores are not much better. 47% of independents have a negative view of his economic plan. just 35%, positive. as the president defends his handling of the economy -- >> we are in a stronger position. we are moving in a better

direction than when i took office. >> reporter: some democratic insiders are growing weary. veteran democratic strategist, james carville, says that campaign message is not enough. >> they need some signal that he has their interests at heart. and that he's going to put their interests in his second term. i think if he does that, he will be fine. if he doesn't, it's going to be a really tough election. >> reporter: the white house would not say if the president would announce any new ideas to help grow the economy in today's speech. rob and paula? >> thanks, tahman. le from prosecutors have dropped all charges against john edwards. jurors acquitted edwards on one count and deadlocked on five others. his daughter, cate, tweeted, a big sigh of relief. president obama has signed a bill to add at least seven more air tankers to the u.s. fleet, a new and improved generation of those firefighting planes. meanwhile, five of the old tankers are battling that

massive fire in northern colorado. more than 70-square-miles have gone up in flames. and it's only 10% contained so far. hundreds of evacuated residents are still waiting to see if their homes survived. and two of the colorado residents are especially anxious about when evacuation orders will be lifted. dillon and alyssa plan to get married this saturday. the wedding is supposed to take place at the bride's evacuated family ranch. so, the couple, of course, is now working on a backup location just in case. they say they are getting married saturday, no matter what. >> maybe it will be good luck. if it rains on your wedding day -- >> they'll be married for 400 years. with that fire. time, now, for the weather on this flag day. happy flag day, everybody. starting with a chance of tornadoes around minneapolis, des moines and omaha. light rain in the colorado rockies and wyoming. showers and thunderstorms from houston to the carolinas. and a sunny afternoon in the northeast. >> 70s from boston to baltimore. mostly 80s in the middle of the

and just because gas prices are dropping doesn't mean americans are shopping more. retail sales rose only slightly in may. although, sales of big-ticket items like cars and lines. s, fared better. economists blame a lack of confidence about jobs. at the same time, more americans face the threat of losing their homes. foreclosure filings rose 9% last month. that's the first monthly increase in more than two years. the pace is picking up, now, since a major lawsuit between banks and states has been settled. well, homeowners may not be as confident. but corporations certainly are with the economy improving. many companies like caterpillar and target are rising their stock dividends. dell computer this week announced it will pay a dividend for the first time. these companies are sitting on a large amount of cash and feel confident enough to share it with their stockholders. overseas markets are mostly down over concerns about the european debt crisis. tokyo's nikkei average lost 19 points today. hong kong's hang seng was down

216. in london, the ftse opened higher. and on wall street, the dow fell 77 points wednesday. meanwhile, the nasdaq index was off about 24. car-loving californians now have a new destination. carsland is the newest addition to disney's california adventure in anaheim. it's based on the pixar movie "cars," with three rides based on the fictional town. disney is the parent company of abc. love that movie, "cars." >> that looks fun. all right. cycling great, lance armstrong, he could lose it all. coming up, the new charges he is facing this morning and his response to them. and history made in the majors. what happened last night that has never, ever happened before. and look at this. it's the dallas area, taking a pounding last night. getting raked over by a big storm. this is what it looked like outside one home as the storm moved in. pelting the backyard with large hailstones. the falling ice, just piling up on lawns like snow, punching through rooftops, damaging hundreds of cars. the hail also led to delays at dallas-ft. worth airport. i'm sure a lot of insurance adjusters are getting phone calls. >> busy day in dallas. now, for a look at morning road conditions. slick spots from the southeast into the gulf coast and east texas. wet highways from the upper midwest into nebraska, kansas and eastern colorado. showers dampen roads in wyoming and the colorado rockies. >> and if you're flying today, should be smooth sailing out there. weather-related airport delays are only expected in the city of minneapolis. short list today. >> very short. >> we like that, though. new doping allegations are hanging over the career of lance armstrong this morning. >> the scandal will not go away. the champion cyclist could be

stripped of all of his victories if the accusations are proven true. with more on this, here's abc's neal karlinsky. >> reporter: for the first time, the nation's top cops for drugs and sport allege that lance armstrong cheated his way to a record seven tour de france titles. u.s. anti-doping agency sources tell abc news the case against armstrong is among the strongest doping cases they've ever seen. in a letter sent to armstrong, sources tell abc news, usada claims to have blood samples collected in 2009 and 2010, proving that armstrong was doping. the banned methods match allegations his former teammate and friend, floyd landis, told us exclusively in 2010. did you see lance armstrong receiving transfusions? >> yes. >> reporter: more than once? >> yes, multiple times. >> reporter: and you saw him using epo? >> i have, yes. i also received some from him. yes, i saw lance armstrong using drugs. >> reporter: armstrong denies

every bit of it. says he's never tested positive, never doped. and in a statement this afternoon, says, these are the very same charges and the same witnesses that the justice department chose not to pursue after a two-year investigation. these charges are baseless, motivated by spite. that recently dropped federal investigation was not out to prove doping, but rather money laundering and conspiracy. if the new allegations are proven, armstrong will be stripped of many or all of his record tour de france wins. neal karlinsky, abc news, seattle. >> thanks, neal, for that report. and an unusual lawsuit this morning filed against jetblue airways. ten passengers are suing, saying they feared for their lives when the pilot on a new york to las vegas 234r50ig9 ran through the cabin, ranting about jesus and al qaeda. he had to be restrained. the lawsuit claiming the airline was grossly negligent for allowing him to fly. >> when the flight crew are incapable of handling him, and

they said restrain him. they are talking to us, that was frightening. >> now, the captain faces a hearing tomorrow to determine if he is mentally competent to stand trial. if convicted of interfering with a flight crew, he could face up to 20 years behind bars. we turn to sports news this morning. and a perfect night for major league baseball. here's espn news. >> good morning. and welcome to your "sportscenter" update. i'm zubin mehenti. golf takes center stage in san francisco today. but yesterday, they were buzzing about baseball. specifically, matt cain facing the astros. and rolling. had a career-high 14 ks. jordan schafer, the foul ball down the first baseline, as cain is working on a perfect game. in the fourth, another look shows it's a good call. schafer, another chance. seventh inning, they meet again. cain still perfect. schafer drives to right center.

milk into that cup. the two youngsters belong to kings' captain, dustin brown. so, we guess it's okay. and there's an interesting statistic on this. you know the back story how the cup is maintained. >> you know, tradition has it, each player gets a day or two with the cup. there's a cup keeper that travels with the stanley cup everywhere it goes. makes for some interesting stories, right? now, when the chicago blackhawks a couple of years ago, a man kissed the cup. you ask the cup keeper, they clean it every night and it's sanitized. >> every day? >> every, single night. >> is that a full-time gig, cup keepers? >> there are several cup keepers. see? rob? >> gosh. amazing. hey. >> can you imagine the stories those guys have seen? >> they've seen some things. all kinds of cups. >> that's the most benign thing that's been in that cup. for some of you, your local news is next. >> for everyone else, we'll be right back with this little darth vader.

lovable kid behind the mask in a popular car commercial. well, today, little max page will undergo open-heart surgery. but somehow, he is still smiling. and he spoke with abc's david wright. >> reporter: he's the pint-sized darth vader from that super bowl ad, that doesn't really have the power to start his daddy's volkswagen. but he certainly stole our hearts. and we never even saw his face. in real life, the talented actor from that ad, 7-year-old max page, faces the scariest day of his life. what is it, your heart? >> i don't know. ask my mom. >> reporter: max's had a pacemaker since he was a toddler. he has a congenital heart defect. >> he's having a pulmonary valve replaced. >> reporter: he's having open-heart surgery. so, you're a famous actor and you know about preparing for a role. how are you preparing for this? >> well, it's kind of a little bit different than preparing for a role, because no lines. but this one, you don't have lines at all.
