burn up in the east bay and in less than an hour. it is very clear an example of how dry and dangerous the wildfire conditions conditions are right now across the bay area. i'm dan ashley. carolyn johnson is off tonight. firefighters all over the bay area are on alert, and with good reason. they have already had to put res, and fires, and the season has barely begun. the first was a 300-acre blaze. thomas roman is there live. >> firefighters believe it will be a bad season and people and equipment are on high alert. this fire occurred in a remote uninhabited area of alameda county. firefighters attacked it as

people and homes were at risk. more than 200 firefighters supported by firefighters and fixed weaning aircraft brought he heat just off calavares roadment roadment -- road. the flames rapidly consumed the dry hills and brush. the department of corrections was on hand. >> we hit it hard with a lot of resources. the heat we were experiencing, we want to throw a lot to contain it. >> this is the dry grass land that could have caused the fire to consume more than 1,000 acres according to he raises his cattle on the land that is owned by the san francisco water district and came by to check on the damage. >> we need to find out how far back it burned and if we damaged any water facilities or what. >> a little more than 300 acres were charred. no homes or structures were

threatened. the fire danger is high. a fire broke out in marin county after red flag rn whattings were put in place due to expected high winds. they say if the winds are of concern there they will be a problem here. >> the winds don't know when to stop. if they are in the bay area, the winds will potentially surface, maybe not to the red flag potential, but they will be increasing. >> it began 10 feet of on calaveras road. it is in an determino determine exactly how this fire started. investigators will not say whether this fire was suspicious or not until they analyze all of the evidence. all of the evidence. they say the fire is now 90% contained, but we won't talk about full containment until daylight. thomas roman, abc news. in tinder dry boutte county a 100-acre wildfire is fully contained. the firefighters had their

hands full. two structures were destroyed and 30 more threatened. it is expected to get worse this weekend. sandhya patel is here with more on the heat and the fire danger jie. a red flag warning is in affect for the north bay mountains and for lake county. it runs until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. we are looking at gusts as high as 40 miles an hour. low humidity. with a combination of the two, add to it the heat, and we are really going to be facing high fire danger conditions as we head into the next 24 hours. the north bay mountains winds ls out of thest. south at 4. diablo range southeast to 24 miles an hour. the relative humidity you can see in the 20 to 30% range. this is all going to change as the offshore flow ramps up. we will see the humidity drop with the gusty winds and the high fire danger. we will be back to tell you

how hot it is going to get. temperatures will top the triple digit mark. >> thanks very much. now a different kind of fire. a nightwatchman says he was forced to leave where the fire broke out. that's according to the oakland tribune. the paper is reporting that the security guard was surprised by three men just before the fire broke out at about 2:00 on thursday morning. it was in a senior citizen home. a building inspector and two atf agents entered the burned out building to see if it was safe enough for a fire to begin in ernest. >> there are parts that could collapse inside. the building engineer hillary assess the situation and make sure what is safe and not safe for investigators to go inside. >> police meantime have not confirmed the nightwatchman's story about being forced out at gun point.investigators are r

suspects and video of the fire was caught by bart security cameras. field inspectors are carefully watching a tank that released a bad odor into the smell of air. the smell of rotten eggs went through this morning. a tank containing a million gallons of waterogenogen so lfide -- sulfide ruptured. they say it will be sealed sometime tomorrow afternoon. a health advisory was issued warning people with breathing problems to stay indoors. a long night, maybe schop a school openfor those in oakland. it is one of the campuses being shutdown to save money. john alston is live at lakeview elementary. sounds like they don't plan to leave. >> we are near the sit in or the sleep in. while it is not likely they

high fire d for the north forbae surrounding area. even though we don't have red flag warnings everywhere, just the north bay hills, just be aware of the that that the itis high. it is cooling down for father's day. at least we will be a little more comfortable for the dads. higher pressure is providing a set up where the offshore flow is increasing. this is the wind flow that comes out from the land and down toward the ocean. as the wind moves toward the ocean you get compression and cd the compression causes the air mass to warm. we are already seeing this offshore flow developing. it rams up overnight, and as we head into tomorrow afternoon it will peak. the temperatures will sore bayside and inland. and then sunday the wind switches direction as it comes back on shore and coming in off the cooler ocean waters. you will see the fog and the sea breeze surgeries back and the temperatures start to fall on sunday. tomorrow morning it is really mild to warm in our inland east bay.60s and 70s

they just moved in together and would love a more adult look where they can entertain and relax. we actually spend a lot of time out here. we play a lot of games. we like to play the wii pretty much, we play with our dogs a lot out here. we spend a lot of time out here rather than in our separate rooms. we watch a lot of movies, we love having people over, it's entertaining. it's kind of a mish-mash of what we have, a design background ourselves. we just brought our stuffs together, put it in the room, it's where it's at. we definitely need some help with al that kind of stuff. annie, this is your condo. you own this place. i do. and a little birdie told me you've done some renovations in here. what have you done in here? we put hardwood floor on the ground. they're beautiful. they had carpet when we moved in. we painted the walls alittle bit because they were the same color throughout the whole house. and then just put some curtains up, kind of add some colors. what is it that you

like about the room? i like it because it is so open. it's pretty universal wherever you want to put stuff. for instance we don't have any background, so i like the layout but i just don't, i really don't know how to utilize this place. i love the fireplace. i like the fact that, i agree, the place is big. i do love the hardwood floors. what do you think of the larger furniture pieces? are you happy with them? do you want to trade them out? we aren't too picky, but like we said, we have a lot of people over so we do like a lot of seating area. right so if we replaced it you wouldn't want two chairs? you want something that's big like this. if we did get rid of anything would you be mad? no, okay good. get out of here. the ultimate goal of this room is to just to have a place that feels welcoming and comfortable. people can come and feel like they're at home. it's a fantastic space, it's nice and big and open. it opens up to the kitchen, to the dining room, it's got a fire place, which is fantastic.
