story. >> you know preparing for fires and the season is with us, for two days, firefighters from around santa clara have been in training. >> there is about five acre fire and making small uphill runs. >> it's only a drill, but an important one this year. and there is 125 firefighters training today in the hills of los gatos, firefighters are from across santa clara county. there is tinder dry grass and expensive homes. firefighters need to make decisions as they arrive, size up phone shall for disaster. >> and what can i do now? >> with exkbreerns comes greater responsibility.

there are strike teams on scene ahead of command staff with battle plan autos we give them an area to work in and they go to work and make decisions on their own. coming down to if there is 25 houses and five trucks you may give a captain five house autos this is focused on structure protection, firefighters on the ground get air support from firefighters and fixed wick aircraft. other focuses on logistics, deployment of prison crews and evacuation of the elderly and horses. firefighters are using what appears to be a low-tech device, a sand box with wood shavings. and there are eye droppers used to stwich flames, cal fire has been using the box for training for over 40 years.

bart police believe there is a serial bike thief. and abc news joins us with details, heather? >> we're at the balboa park bart station, police arrested what they're calling the busy bike thief, now bart is hoping

anyone who had a bike stolen from bart last year will get busy identifying the property. 47-year-old brett major was arrested for stealing a bike from a bart station, police believe that wasn't the first time he'd made off with someone else's ride. on that day, a station agent at 24th street ns noticed major acting sus spishusly. she watched him board a train, taking a bike with him. she alerted police and other agents. another agent recognized him as he got off a train and police moved in and arrested him outside. >> that is when they recovered the bicycle frames in his residents. >> bart wants to reunite the bike was their owners and they've asked us to show pictures in hopes someone might recognize their property no. one know what's major might have wanted with so
