the been released. >> berkeley fire investigators are looking for the cause of an early morning fire that killed a woman and sent two others to the hospital. the blaze broke nout an old victorian house a neighbor reported seeing flames and eight people were inside at the time. seven managed to get out. a desperate try to rescue the woman failed. >> i went in to try to find her. the smoke was just too thick. i had to -- so thick i had to duck down to see to get anywhere. >> firefighters found the victim in the attic at the house. fire officials say they know where the pier fire started and now they're working on how. the loss is estimated $2.4 million. abc 7 news is live with more.
