the measure to 49.7% in favor. and about five million votes were cast. the tobacco industry poured $47 million into the race. prop 29 would have added a $1 a pack tax with money designated for cancer research. in march, 67% of the voters supported the measure. >> there is an update on a story we reported last night on abc 7 news at 11:00. police have arrested a woman they believe hit a man with her car then kept driving, leading investigators to a 28-year-old from morgan hill, police say they found damage on the car that matches evidence on the scene. the victim is in a coma. discovered at butterfield boulevard. they believe he spent an hour on the ground between the time he was hit and the time he was found. >> oakland police hope witnesses will come forward

with information on two bodies found in two separate locations today. there is a driver discovering a woman on the on ramp around 1:30 this morning. then, around 10:30 a.m. a passenger spotted a body in a drainage canal. a good samaritan tried to revive the woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene. it's unclear if she was shot along the freeway or left there after being shot somewhere else and there is investigators have not revealed how the person died or how long that person was there. >> and san jose mayor and police chief and the family of a young murder victim are working together trying to address youth violence in the community. the 14-year-old was killed back in april. his murder remains unsolved.
