[shouting] >> parents, teachers, students, and people who are simply concerned at the direction of education, united. they're demanding the oakland uniflite school district re-open five elementary schools the board volted to close. >> deserve an education, deserve to be able to have a school in their neighborhood. >> the outrage has prompted a sit-in at lakeview elementary where parents and children set up tents and have been camping out since last friday. on monday, police posted warning signs ordering occupiers to leave. the group refuses to move until the district checks its -- changes its mine.

>> as for revisiting the school dose cure discussion, that's a decision the board has to make and it's extremely unlikely. >> the district insists closures will consolidated the student body and make the system nor efficient and will save the district $5.7 million. >> we have to use our resources better, and when we close some of these schools, free up resources, revenue and time, we can divert that to the remaining sites. >> they've set it up to fail. >> many here insist the district is making matters worse. they're sure the change in schools will cause confusion and only add to problems. >> attendance will go do because it's too for away. they're not connected to the school of teacherreds, they're going to get lost. >> the community deserves the right to have a community school for the neighborhood kids. >> and i did ask the district spokesperson if police plan to

take action and remove the campers. he said he didn't think so and the district still hopes this will be resolved peacefully. lisa amin gulezian, abc-7 news. >> ama: well, san francisco is brimming with pride this weekend, as the lgbt community is celebrated. sergio quintana is live at dolores park where a lot of the recents are -- events are taking place. >> reporter: the police put out an advisory. they're expecting a million people taking part in five celebrations here in the city this weekend, and no doubt there are several thousand who have already started those celebrations here in dolores park on this sunny saturday. but take a look. this is the preparty for the annual dike march, which is expected to start in an hour, and then the march ends with a street party a little later on and will continue through until midnight.

this dolores park party is part of the larger weekend-long celebration. san francisco pride is billed as the largest in the country, and it's certainly one of the longest running, which means it draws a diverse odd -- audience from across the country. among them, couple from sacramento who say they got engaged today, and they have not yet planned a wedding. this is where i wanted to do it because this is our second year, and i just wanted to be here with her and do it in front of everybody. >> reporter: for those who are going to be taking part in this weekend's pride celebrations, you should be aware, which i'm sure you are, there are going to be plenty of street closures and also public transportation diversions. so plan accordingly. also, tonight's celebrations will be focused mostly here in

hotel. the beverly hilton is the same hotel that white any houston died. >> today the jury -- the attorney for jerry sandusky says his client is under suicide watch. a jury found him guilty on 45 sex abuse counts. hours after he was whiived away to prison, his wife dotty paid him a visit. she brought him a bag of supplies and only stayed a few minutes. >> this was our first look at jerry sandusky, convicted pedophile. found guilty in a pennsylvania courtroom on 45 of 48 charges related to sexually abusing ten boys over 15 years. >> he is going to have to think about this every fire the rest of his life. >> he deserves the worst we can possibly give him. >> this booking photo was taken after sandusky arrived at the correctional facility where he was placed on suicide watch.

he will be formally sentenced in 90days. >> prosecutors received a hero's welcome as they left the courthouse. sandusky's attorney claims he may appeal, insisting he didn't have adequate time to prepare for the mountain of evidence presented by the prosecution. >> due to judicial con distributions we were forced to proceed to trial at this time. >> reporter: the scandal brought down two schooled administrators yet to go on trial, penn state president and joe paterno, who died exactly five months ago. those representing the victims applaudedded the verdict, reached after 20 hours of deliberation. >> the feeling this monster will now spend the rest of his life in jail is a tremendous feeling for all of the victims. >> penn state's president released a statement saying the school is continuing with their own investigation and they are preparing to reach financial settlements with those coming after the school for mop tear damages.

mt. tam camera, looking down on the bay on this mainly suzy day. a beautiful day all around the bay area. let's look now at what's going on with the current temperature readings. live doppler 7 hd was up there a second ago and i hit the button to fast and can't back up. right now, temperature readings of 70 degrees at fairfield, antioch, and los gatos, '70 at mountain view, upper of -- upper 60s at inland locations, and the high temperatures have been running ten degrees below the average in our inner locations. so for tonight, we'll see partly cloudy skies early with an increase in clouds overnight. sunny afternoon for he next few days and a warmer pattern next week. satellite radar composite image shows an up ever level low to at the northwest. the circulation is providing us with conditions we have right now. cool nights, mild afternoons, and enough of a breeze mix out any coastal clouds, at least during at the daytime.

we go to lows tonight. we'll see a few clouds return tonight. partly cloudy, they'll push in early up to the coast and locally inland. low temperatures cooler than we have seen the last few nights, mid-40s in the inland valleys of in the north bay. we'll see upper 40s in other inland locations, and lows right around 50 for the remainder of the bay area. and then tomorrow, got a lot going on. a big outdoor event at the sf pride parade here in san francisco tomorrow morning, 10:30 tomorrow morning the start of the parade. partly cloudy. temperature 54 degrees, by noon, sunnier, and then by 3:00 p.m., completely sunny, breezy temperature 60s, and in sonoma county, nascar sprint cup series begins 10:00 tomorrow morning. at that point, partly cloudy, 52, upper 60s by noon. sunny and breezy and low 70s by 4:00 p.m. bay area tomorrow, sunny skies and the south bay, highs in the low 70s. 71 at san jose and cupertino.
