>> reporter: this story ends with a man being shot to death in front of his house. it began with that man calling police saying he had or wanted to kill a police officer take a look at the scene where this wrapped up yesterday afternoon here in antioch. about 3:third 45 sometime before that the pan -- called police saying he wanted to kill himself and wanted to kill a police officer. police only knew the man's first name and where he worked. the man kept calling and calling, distraught police id'd the calling went to his house, police say he came out with a gun and fired at them despite the fact they asked him to drop that gun, he didn't. >> they were hiding by our house the s.w.a.t. team was hiding by our house i guess he came out i didn't see him come

violence-related charge. unknown is whether his wife will be testifying. her attorney says she would like to, only if the city will pay for her round-trip ticket from venezuela. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. this morning fire investigators are trying to determine what set off a fire inside a house near the san jose state university campus last night. the fire destroyed a vacant two-story victorian on 7th street. it was reported after 8:30 last night by neighbors who saw flames and smoke coming from the building. >> my daughter and were in the room and i was smelling smoke i thought was paper burning, so i got up. i looked in the kitchen and didn't see anything. i happened to hook out window and i seen the fire -- to look out the window answer i seen the fire downstairs burning. >> those neighbors were order out of their homes until firefighters brought the blaze under control two hours later. no one was hurt.

investigators don't believe the fire is suspicious. at noon today friends and family members of a dodgers fan presumed drowned will rent their kayaks to conduct their own such. he was walking with a friend back to their car in a parking lot monday after the game, the friend looked down to write a text message, when he looked up, the man was gone. believed to have fallen into the water. >> we are sure -- !oé>k he still hasn't had evidence that he went over the bay. the reason why we are still searching for him. police and coast guard searched the bay for several hours monday morning but did not find him. he is a prison guard in vacaville and cannot swim. this is cell phone video of one of the fires on the 200
