>> ama: burned out and still looking for a home. community members rally for their neighbors. >> alan: it happened last may. the fire in the mission left 37 people homeless. sergio quintana is live in the mission at a fun drairs being held to help nearly half of the residents still looking for a place to live. >> reporter: organizers of the fundraiser have been working on it now for a few weeks. they have the table set up. this fire happened on the first event of sunday streets in the mission.

that was two months ago, and so this neighborhood is trying to pitch in and help their fellow neighbors. the burned-out shell of what used to be an apartment building is an eerie reminder. >> cast a pall on what otherwise was a fantastic day. >> residents were devastated as their homes were destroyed. >> my mom lived in unit 6, and i carry my mom down, and i save my mom. >> now two months later half of the residents are still struggling to find permanent homes. she remains concerned for some only her former neighbors. >> i know it was hard for us, four, kind of single kids in the city, but it's hearder -- harder for family. >> the neighbors decided to pitch in they blanketed the area with posters.

the hope is that people when joyed sunday streets will spread the good will at their fundraiser. >> we have been tweeting and facebook page and media, to let everybody who loves sunday streets in the mission, there's something you can do to help the community. >> reporter: this event will continue until 6:00. the biggest concern for a lot of the organizers of the fundraiser is for one family in particular, 12 members in the family who are displaced from the fire it's very difficult to find housing for a family that big in the city, much less here in the mission, and also especially since they're looking for affordable housing. that's a big concern a lot of the organizers have. reporting live, abc-7 news. >> alan: in martinez, firefighters were called to a home last night and found flames shooting as high as 50 feet in the air. crews got it under control but the roof over the garage and the kitchen collapsed. there was one person inside the

house who escaped but they were taken to the hospital, suffering from smoke inhalation. investigators are still trying to figure out holiday it starts. >> b.a.r.t. began running normally after trains stopped for an hour after man jumped on to tracks. a passenger saw the man jump on the tracks around noon and took off toward the lake merit station, b.a.r.t. turned off its electric third rail while police searched for the man. that caused two trains to get stuck between stations. >> it was hot and stuffy. i'm clause stro folk -- claustrophobic, and kids were crying. >> balancing the need for service and need for safety of the person on the track. today it worked out well. the person was taken into custody, is safe. >> b.a.r.t. did allow one stranded train to move after a woman on board calls 9-1-1 and complained she had trouble

breathing. >> alan: the battle continues in colorado where crews are gaining the upper hand on the waldo canyon fire and tonight victims are getting help from the bay area. the wildfire has become the most destructive fire in the state's history, destroying more than 350 homes and killing two people. today some of the 36,000 uvacees got their first opportunity to tour their scorched neighborhoods. also two salvation army disaster response members from san francisco arrived in colorado tonight. >> the salvation army mobilized several mobile feeding units immediately after the fire, and we're looking not only to help survivors of the fear but those folks who are fighting to put the flames out. >> alan: this video shows our kentuckyly the fire spread. it's about 50% contained torch and the crews are confident their firelines will stop the flames from spreading. >> ama: tonight the death toll from storms that devastated the

eastern u.s. has risen to 14 and the damage is massive. residents shot video of a powerline on fire. forecasters say winds topped 85 miles-per-hour in some states. and take a look at what strong winds did to an apartment in richmond, virginia. the state's governor declared a state of emergency e emergency. three minimum -- three million people are ought power. >> it's aggravating and frustrating and we're trying to keep everybody cool and sticking together. >> trees also top -- toppled when thunderstorms passed through the area. >> alan: in mexico, mexicans went to the polls today to select a new president, and most polls suggest that the party that ruled for most of the 20th century will reclaim the

office. reporters mobbed the front runner as he walked to the polls. his institutional revolutionary party ran mexico from 1929 until the year 2000. leftist lopez is hoping to pull off an upset along with the first woman to run for mexico's presidency. she served in the government that turned out calderon. >> ama: investigators are searching for suspects that left 49ers player aldon smith. smith's wounds were described as minor. the 22-year-old had an outstanding rookie season. the 49ers won't say if the incident will have any impact on his standings with the team, only saying they're in contact with him. the violence happened saturday morning during a party at smith0s home in santa clara county. neighbors say there have been other large parties at the home.

more. cal train is now charging a quarter more each way. golden gate transit bus, cash tears increase 25 cents each way, b.a.r.t. by five cents, muni ferry fares are 25 cents more. and service between sausolito costs 50 cents more, and toll increased for trucks and've's with per axle. tolls from most cars and light trucks have not changed. >> alan: restaurants are looking for loopholes in the state's ban on foie gras. today it is officially illegal to make or sell the fat 'ed goo or duck liver in california. at least one san francisco resident is considering a way to serve it for free. charging only for expensive toast points that come with it.

and even near richmond, off and on today, just this band of clouds just kind of sat there mist and drizzle as well, but we're starting to get a little northerly wind component. you see this right here so it's trying to scour some of this to the south of us, which is a pretty good indication that high pressure is starting to build in and that means more sunshine and warmer temperatures as well. right now, 80 degrees in santa rosa. they're seeing the sun. compared to 59, overcast, mist and drizzle in half moon bay. 79 in antioch. temperatures down three degrees in antioch from this time yesterday. up two in santa rosa, san carlos, down seven, and livermore, cooler with temperatures dropping seven degrees. here's the highlights. low cloud overnight. coastal drizzle. we should start to see this back off to the coast sooner tomorrow so temperatures come up a few more degrees and get ready

fors mild conditions for the wednesday fourth of july holiday. overnight tonight, low clouds and fog move in, 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, dense overcast, and then starts to scour out by 2:00 tomorrow afternoon, translating intomer sun. overknight temperatures, mid-to upper 50s. this is the cold front for the strong on shore component today. trough of low pressure the east of us. now we're going to see this high build in that will scour out the morning low cloud a little sooner. that's going to mean more sunshine and temperatures will warm up. in fact here's a look at the highs. a little more in the range of 80-degree weather tomorrow. 82 for santa rosa, 84, cloverdale, napa, 80. 56 for san francisco. the fog will sit near half moon bay, 63. palo alto, sunshine. interior east bay, livermore, 8 1. antioch, 83.

>> mike: what a day at at&t park. a little baseball game the all-stars were announced, and honored the 2002 team but major league baseball announced rosters and the giants have the most starters from any team in the national league, buster poseyy starts at catcher, garnering more votes an anyone in the national league with 11 million. pablo sandoval starts at third. his second all-star selection, and maybe can i cabrera who received the most votes for an outfielder, will start in left. his first time as an all-star. what a season the giants had, and pitcher matt cain got the nod but not as a starter.
