the federal government announced it's opening a new patent office in silicon valley. they plan to open satellite agencies so they can hire experts. the silicon valley office will be especially important, too. 25% of the patent applications have come from that area. and there are new patent offices being planned for denver and dallas foert -- fort worth area. >> and representative barbara

abc news is teeming up with sleep train that runs a campaign for foster kids and now, we're joining in that effort. how you can help, by using facebook but first a look at the needs of foster children. >> this 18-year-old was five years old when entering the foster care system. and he found what he calls a perfect family at 10. >> certain homes i was abused. >> he tried to hope for a better hive but it was hard. >> i remember when i entered foster care, like nobody loves me. nobody believes i can do anything. so why should i be able to do anything? >> now, with support of a stable family, his ambition soared and he's headed to uc santa barbara with hopes of a career in music.
