these three closed right lanes eastbound direction are going to be reopening is 6:30 that is the absolute ideal earliest that could happen. until then you can see what the situation is. two lanes of traffic moving very, very slowly. again, this is not the direction we expect traffic this time of day eastbound away from everything. if you are looking for a silver lining this is not westbound this is eastbound. all began 5:35 in morning. take a look at pictures what is like up at the crash scene. chp says an officer started following a car who was going at a height rate of speed eastbound lanes followed him through the s-curve, don't know if the s-curves played a role in this. high rate of speed in the lanes where the limit is 40, you know how dangerous these turns are. he follows the car, the car crashes at some point we are not sure how it happen chp pulls his weapon and fires at

least one shot, does not hit the suspect. the suspect is injured, because he's in the car that crashed, he suffered minor injuries taken to the hospital, was not hit by that bullet. i'm also told the san francisco police department is the agency that is going to be investigating. they are having an outside agency take care of this situation. again, back out here, you see the mess, one hour after that initial situation there was another high speed chase it went from oakland into san francisco back over this way and i'm told that there was an arrest of two people in that separate and completely different situation. one person arrested here he's in the hospital. two arrested later after another high speed chase on this same bay bridge. very busy morning out here. it is going to be busy like this for at least another 30 minutes or so 6:30 is the

earliest they can have these three lanes reopened as the investigation continues up there where this came to a conclusion shortly after 2:00 this morning. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >> we know what the implication is if the earliest is 6:30. >> right we want to talk to frances. i've been keeping track of the drive times. the delays have grown from 20 minutes to 40 minutes sometimes an hour heading across the lower deck of the bay bridge with lane closures still in place, three right lanes you can see from terry's live shot traffic barely moving. he's sayg maybe lanes will be open at 6:30 but take longer. there's normally caltrans roadwork scheduled to lanes from 7:00 in the morning to 1:45 without the clearing we might see the back-up through the morning.

80s. new this morning from contra costa county, firefighters worked overnight to extinguish a grass fire and fireworks are to blame. amy hollyfield joins us live from oakley. >> reporter: they've got limited resources so they were nervous when the call came in. they have nine firefighters on a shift to cover 250 square miles. when firefighters in oakley go the call last night, the firefighters here put out a call for help. the contra costa county fire district rushed over to help these firefighters tackle this grass fire that started at about 10:30 last night. witnesses told firefighters they saw someone lighting fireworks in the area. they do think that's what started this one. the fire threatened 12 homes and had plenty of debris to burn in this field. firefighters definitely felt like it was important to get help and get this out quickly.

>> large grass fire like this tends to belabor intensive. there's a lot of burning piles of rubbish and trash in this field. unfortunately, due to our budget our prevention program which does not exist any more has not been able to mitigate this hazard. >> reporter: they got it out in an hour, no one was hurt, no buildings were burned many east contra costa county fire district just closed half of its stations because hit an eight million dollar budget shortfall. voters rejected a parcel tax that would have helped fund the fire stations so they had to close three and lay-off 15 firefighters. there's frustration out here among the firefighters. they were especially frustrated to hear fireworks started this fire last night. they did get the job didn't. they did it with the help from another agency. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. 6:06 now. despite sweltering heat thousands turned out in the

chp telling me 1:30 this morning theres way high speed chase eastbound chp after a cargoes into the s-curve just comes out of -- out of the s-curve and crashes. after the crash for some reason, we are not getting details on this, chp officer pulled his gun and fired did not hit him suspect was injured from the car crash not bullets he was not hit by bullets fired by the chp taken to the hospital and he is under arrest. he's got minor injuries. the investigation conducted by the san francisco police department. that was 1:30 a hour after that, a separate incident, high speed chase coming from oakland into san francisco and then back out again that ended with two people being arrested separate incident, no gun fire there just two people arrested for we don't know yet because that is an -- because that is

issue and a team is trying to figure out what happened. new this morning from east palo alto, a man in police custody accused of stabbing another man in the neck. it happened after 10:00 last night on university avenue. an ambulance rushed the victim to the hospital. no word on his condition right now. 30-year-old man is under arrest. if you have any information on this stabbing, you are asked to contact east palo alto police. new this morning from petaluma, 19-year-old in the hospital after falling from an elementary school roof in sonoma county. the fire department says it happened at 12:30 this morning,. officials say when paramedics arrived the man was unconscious and having trouble breathing. he was taken to a santa rosa hospital. his condition is not being released. police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run accident in oakland it happened around 9:30 last night on international boulevard near 81st avenue. this was the scene from sky 7

hd. firefighters found the body of a pedestrian on the street and then handed the case over to police. no word on the identity of the victim or a description of the vehicle involved. this afternoon, a 41-year-old man scheduled to make his first court appearance in a fatal hit-and-run crash of a teen. investigators say michael harmon's white pick-up truck crashed into the 17-year-old's red pick-up after midnight monday on lakeview highway in people. they say harmon left the scene and turned himself in, 10 hours later. harmon claims the victim is to blame for the crash. investigators say his story doesn't match the evidence from the crash scene. 6:37. time to take a look at forecast for today. by the way cue s to mike for his forecast yesterday for the fireworks. -- kudoes to make for his forecast yesterday for the fireworks. 82 minutes because of low clouds, oakland and san jose on time.
