the e mails seem to look real, however, one fake e mail cost one woman a chunk of money and frustration. >> ida from san mateo makes sure her computer is secure from hackers and it's trying to be secure that led her into a scam. >> and i thought this was a norton person. >> she received an e mail offering to renew the plan for two years, for just $120. sounded good so she called the phone number and spoke to a nice woman. >> and she said, oh, g give me your credit number. >> she let a woman get into the computer by remote control. and thinking she would update her norton account. >> i let her into my computer and she fixed everything she had to do. she was very sweet. she was very professional.

and i respected her. >> she found out the payment never appeared on her account. and folks told her youner never paid us. here on the credit card statement it shows $120 payment to pay pal norton or norton renew so why didn't it get there? >> i said what is this? who has the $120? she said i will take care of it. >> pay pal insisted it did pay norton. norton kept saying they never got the money. finally she found out what happened. >> i was skroinsed the lady was from norton. she wasn't. >> the e mail was a fake. sent by a norton imposter. the tippoff, norton says we never use pay pal as payment. and if someone took money from pay pal it wasn't norton.

the company never sends e mails yugs a yahoo account. pay pal told her to dispute the charge with her credit card company but it was past 60 days to make a claim. >> i had it by then. i said i'm going to abc. 7 on your side. i know michael will get this straightened out. >> and we contacted pay pal. soon off, pay pal decided to reimburse the money. it would not discuss this case and pointed to a policy guarding consumers against fraud and said we take time to understand each individual issue in concern ask do everything we can to achieve a fair resolution, she says she learn aid lesson. >> call the real company number and make sure they sent that e mail.
