elder abuse. >> police say that the victim is doing well, just suffering some dehydration issues. he may be considered the victim of elder abuse because he falls under the legal definition of a dependent adult. right now we are following developing news out of oakland and two people are dead killed in two separate shootings. the first happened shortly before 6:30 in east oakland. an argument between two men and a garage. another shooting left a man lying on 11th street. >> more developing news, in downtown oakland, where there has been an officer-involved shooting. here is view the earlier this evening. police responded to reports of a robbery at a restaurant.

investigators aren't saying why shots were fired. a cruiser and a car ended up colliding and at the they say the suspect was injured possibly from the crash. >> the state senate narrowly approved the first phase of california's high speed rail project. it allocated $8 billion. and californians would be able to ride a bullet train between los angeles to san francisco poup speeds of 220 miles an hour. >> that bullet train would stop right here in san jose if the $69 billion project becomes a reality. feds would kick in some money. the trains would go more than 200 miles an hour but the construction won't move that fast. >> now, cal trains zipped down the peninsula, if and when the

thunderstorms like this one in tennessee are adding to the misery. two people were killed in the smoky mountains today. 17,000 lost power. in chicago was the third consecutive day of triple-digit temperatures. there have been six heat-related deaths. nationwide 150,000 people have been without power for a week. >> we're not facing anything like that here but we are warming up and sandhya patel has the forecast. >> that's right. that heat on the east coast is going to be shifting our way which means we're going feel the heat in the bay area minus the humidity. it's not going to be excessive. we are seeing that the skies are still clear, patchy fog has just begun to develop around half moon bay. take a look at view, what a great sun set at 8:35 tonight. the fog has been slow to return and that is an indication of

some changes that are coming. temperatures right now in the 60s and even 70s showing up in anlts yok. we do have few 50s sprinkled in the north bay but compared to 24 hours ago, look at numbers. 11 degrees warmer in antioch and concord. 10 degrees warmer in san rafael. we're going to start out milder tomorrow and it's only going to get warmer for saturday afternoon. fog fills in the coast overnight. sunny and warmer for saturday. hot inland early next week. today high temperatures came up a few degrees and that warming trend is taking us into your saturday and even beyond saturday. this is the hot air mass that has a grip on the central and eastern united states providing them with a blistering heat. it's the heat and humidity creating the excessive heat warnings and heat advisories for a good part of the country. what is going to happen, this is finally going to shift towards

the west. a cold front will move into the midwest bringing significant relief from the heat starting on sunday and east coast will get relief on monday. as this large bubble of hot air shifts to the west we're going to see warmer conditions. warmer for your saturday, but this will really hit the peak when you hit into tuesday and wednesday. tomorrow morning, limited fog near the coast. most areas starting out in the 50s. cloverdale 49 degrees and watch what happens to the fog. it's very limited and it's going to clear away for most of bay area except for a few paf7s. 90s inland and 60s along the coastline. warmer for most of the bay area. here are the specific in the south bay, 84 in san jose. 87 in los gatos. pretty nice day in milpitas, 81 degrees. on the peninsula, 78 in redwood city. 79 in menlo park. low 60s near the coast. we'll see fog hanging around. if you don't like the heat there
