was a great white. it happened around 8:30 this morning, outside the kelp line at pleasure point. >> he felt this tremendous bump to the back of the kayak, which lifted the back of the kayak up out of the water, and simultaneously he saw the head on the front of the kayak taking a bite of the kayak, and he was thrown into the water. >> even though the kayaker had two other friends in their own okay yacks near, people in a small boat rushed in and rescued him. >> hi was very fortunate there were other boaters nearby and were able to rescue him and help him get out of the water. so that helped him. >> the kayaker was in shock but was otherwise up harmed. the harbor patrol and state park reason -- rangers have been notified. word is spreading about the attack. it's not stopping people from going into the water.

>> a lot of sharks in there. it's the ocean. i'm not surprised. >> it's kind of what sharks do they cruise around all day biting stuff, and i wouldn't necessarily call that an attack. that's more like shark behavior. >> reporter: and the water where the attack happened is just 40 feet deep. now, official is spoke with tell me they don't ever recall seeing a great white short-attack a kayaker in this area. live in capitola, lisa amin gulezian, abc-7 news. >> alan: now on to a different kind of attack. someone smashed several beehives, killing hundreds, possibly thousands of bees. sergio quintana is live with the details. >> reporter: there were three bee coins colonies that were relocate and the last of the three was removed from the farm. the big reason is because this farm is really easily accessible

by just about everyone. they say vandals think they're not going to get caught. right now all of the three bee colonies will be a community farm enclosed by chain link fence so there is some security, but this is a spot that has been attacked before, and in fact these bees were moved to this farm because someone attacked the hives with pesticide in 2010. the beekeepers say they have kept good with the residents and -- >> the forest of the urbanite knocked the five boxes off the bottom board, and they were just sort of hanging only because of the chain. >> reporter: these are photos taken by bee cause of the damage the colonies two queens were killed in the attack so the

hives are being rehabilitated. the vanlz struck here at the farm a couple of weeks ago. in the attack they destroyed $100 of equipment and lost 85-pound of happy, about $1,600 worth of product. if. >> ama: we do have some breaking news from the delta. the rio vista draw bridge is shut down in both directions because of a mechanical problem. traffic is backed up on both sides of the bridge. caltrans is working on a problem but no word when it may re-open. >> alan: san jose police shut down part of lincoln avenue because of a suspicious package. it was closed for almost three hours. the package was left up attended in the plaza of the shopping center. theblom squad blew up the suitcase which contained a

typewriter. the opener is unknown. >> protesters upset by the result oftz mexico's election took to the streets of san francisco to get their message heard. the march is in solidarity with the protest underway in mexico city today against president election enrique pena nieto. they're accusing him of buying votes and using intimidation for support. >> it's illegal to bring people with guns to persuade the people or to intimidate the people so they can -- they vote only for peña nieto. >> pena nieto denies the allegations and is set to take power in november. >> a group occupying the farm returned to the farm. the land is owned by uc berkeley and occupiers accuse the university of not taking care of the plants. the activist are planning to protest monday before a public hearing on development plans

didn't allow peterson a fair trial. >> his lawyers arguing the verdict should be overturned because there was too much prejudicial pretrial publicity. and while the case was moved to san mateo, the lawyer says that's not enough. >> police believe it happen between december 23rd and the morning of christmas eve 2002. suffocating her and dumping the body in the san francisco bay. from day one, peterson denied any responsibility in her death, saying he was away on a fishing trip when she disappeared. in all those years behind bars the former federal lieser salesman doesn't appear to have aged much. >> one of the reasons scott does well, it appears in jail, is that he has a personality that adapts. he is sort of a classic antisocial personality which basically means he doesn't have a conscience. if you don't have a conscience you don't worry. >> behind bars he has his own

perfect in san francisco, very hot inland. san rafael, warmed up 15 degrees from this time yesterday. so, warm temperatures across the bay area. blue sky right now. a live shot from the san jose cam. so we have blue skies in the south by and east bay. check out what's going on coming in through the gate and in over sutro there, moving into san francisco. from the high definition east bay cam, and you can see the fog has started to move on, and live doppler 7 hd also picking up on the fog bank -- and it is a bank stepping well off the coast. all of this is moving towards the east, and that is going to move in to the bay overnight, move inland overnight tonight so temperatures will cool slightly for the sunday. already starting to see near the marin headlands, san francisco, golden gate bridge, westerly wind will move that inland overnight. 87 was the high in santa rosa today. san rafael, 91. 97 in antioch.

97 in fairfield. closer to the bay and the coast, bit cooler. san francisco high, 69. 88 in san jose. current read, 82 in santa rosa. 59, san francisco, 9 in livermore. 81 right now no san jose. so, coastal clouds move further inland overnight tonight. slightly cooler day for sunday, and then after that, get ready for a big warmup. hot temperatures inlandded as we head into tuesday and wednesday. lows tonight generally in the mid-to-upper 50s. maybe a few 60s, extreme east bay communities, as the heat from the day will pretty much stay in your neighborhood. but this is the fog bank once again, westerly wind, and that's going to bring cooler temperatures for our sunday, but as we head into the first part of next week, the bubble of hot air back east will start to migrate towards the west. so the hottest days next week will be inland locations, tuesday and wednesday.
