suffered bad head injuries and within seconds a team of emergency medical technicians got to him but this weekend a representative of the jockey guild tells us he believes paramedics would have been better qualified in that imagine. >> the memorial of jockey here ray herrera. >> the fourth race of the day was dedicated in his honor. on this track four days ago he was killed when the horse he was riding stumbled and he tumbled off. the jockey guild raised concern because of the type of immediate medical attention on scene. it was said, the emt's're on scene but the pair met kicks arrived afterwards. it seemed like a long time. though he acknowledges paramedics may not have helped much because of the injuries. after thursday's accident, the alameda county fair racetrack has agreed to beef up their medical chase team.

>> due to this recent tragedy we have added one additional paramedic to be on the ambulance crew with the emts. >> before the racing day, friends and family gathered near the horse stables for a memorial. >> a great rider. >> he was very smiley guy. very happy. and very friendly with everybody. >> and among those who signed pictures of hernandez for his family was the opener of the horse -- the owner of the horse he was riding. >> he worked this hours, qualified him and was gung ho on the horse. >> jose is still shaken up by the loss of a friend and rider. >> we have to make the best of and it keep going. we all know the dangers. >> now, 32-year-old jorge herrera -- the reports detail hogue he died has not been completed but everybody i talked to today pretty much acknowledged it's going to be ruled an accident. again, that official report has

not been completed, however. reporting love, abc-7 news. >> alan: a fremont man who survived a shark attack is talking about his experience. today the man simply known as mel, shared his story on the online forum, north cal kayak anglers. he described the shark, saying, quote, his head was gray and white. his mouth was closed when hi saw him come out of the surface with my kayak in his mouth. i can sear the seriousness in his eyes. the shark left a mark on the kayak in the attack yesterday. mel says the force of th attack threw him into the water. he swam a bit and scrimped aboard a private boat nearby. the kayaker says he learned an important safety lesson, never go out alone and stay close to other kayakers. >> ama: investigators tracked down the opener of a truck left abandoned on highway 101 they say involved a deadly crash involving several vehicles.

the chp says the truck was left in the fast lane on southbound 101. four cars crashed around 1:00 this morning. one person died in the crash. a second is in critical condition. investigators talked with the truck0s owner. he has not been cited or arrested but the investigation continues. >> alan: a former software company owner convicted of murdering his wife in the oakland hills in 2008 is scheduled to be back in court tomorrow. hans ricer's two children filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him in connection with the death of their mother. nina riser. he led authorities to her body were yesterday in a remote part of the oakland hills in exchange for a lighter sentence. the lawsuit seeks unspecified damage for emotional distress. ricer was sentenced to 15 years to live in prison. >> firefighter ares stopped a fire before it to spread to other building in downtown oakland this morning. the fire broke out at 9:30 in the second story of a building

on webster street. firefighters know that building well. >> we have had several fires here in the past. we had one last year. we had to be caution the fire didn't travel in void spaces. >> ama: investigators are looking for what caused the fire. nobody was hurt. lap lan in petaluma, three many have been arrested for stealing property out of 18 storage units. the member, all from petaluma, are accused of breaking into the public storage units. the men were caught with stolen vehicles which put investigators on a trail that led the storage units. >> in san jose, parishioners at catholic church are refusing to let thieves stop them from performing. [applause] >> alan: they're singing without instruments today at our lady of guadalupe. the church has been robbed three times in the past two weeks. the buglars took instruments and

equipment worth $25,000. the church says it sold tacos to earn the money for those instruments. now this thursday night at 7:00, a mariachi concert will be held to races more money. >> groundbreaking is set for tomorrow on a new air traffic control tower at san francisco international airport. federal officials will join mayor ed lee for the groupbreaking on the control tower and base building. this is a time lapse animated video of the project posted online by the airport. the faa says the critical infrastructure project will create local jobs and increase safety for air travelers. the new tower is expected to be completed in 2014. caltrain will be trying something new tomorrow geared toward better informing passengers of delays. the first round of testing will begin. the system uses gps technology on cal trains to game location and speed of trains. passengers will be alerted of arrival times with both visual

marin headlands. the marin side of the golden gate bridge seeing some sunshine right now, about it extends down, daly city to half moon bay, even stretching over towards san bruno. a little west onshore wind component. and 12 degrees down. livermore down 11. down 14 in san car loss, half moon bay, little sunshine earlier in the day. actually came up two degrees. here's a look at the current readings right now. we have 90 in antioch. 87 in concord. 75 in san rafael. fremont, 76. 72, san jose. san francisco, 57 degrees. so, here's a look at our highlights. low clouds at the coast and bay tonight. but warming trend will begin tomorrow, and then get ready for hot temperatures inland by mid-week, temperatures rising, mid-90s to near 100 degrees.

overnight, with the fog and coast, mid-to-upper 50s, and you can see as you kick out or start tomorrow morning, back to work after the long week holiday, you can see by 6:00 a.m. the fog bank moves in. not as far inland, though, as the past several days. so, look for a good bit of clearing, a little sooner tomorrow and that's going to mean temperatures will start to warm up a little bit more. so, we've been talking a little bit about the warming trend, and it is from -- developed towards the central part of the country, and it's starting to move in our direction. it looks like the hottest days well be tuesday and wednesday. mid-90s to near 100 degrees and this is going to be east lay locations. i want to show you the temperatures. tomorrow, santa rosa, 90. by tuesday, 95. wednesday, 98. check out concord. tuesday, 96. rising to 100 on wednesday.
