no major problems on bay area freeways. mike was telling us about that fog along the coast across the golden gate bridge, limited visibility if you are driving pacifica, daly city and along the coast. this morning marine mammal experts will return to a creek another san francisco international airport. most of the yesterday people were enthralled and worried by the surprise appearance of a stranded dolphin. katie marzullo is live along colma creek what is the latest? >> reporter: good morning. we've been out here for an hour. we have not seen the dolphin. we see water foul a little activity out here but we -- haven't spotted the dolphin either we haven't seen it or it has left colma kaoebg that would be good news where it is concerned. of course, it was not being shy yesterday, the dolphin first spotted 11:30 in the morning we got plenty of video

circling and hanging out. experts say it is not unusual for bottlenosed dolphins to go into shallow water to eat to search for fish, just hanging out and circling in colma creek is out of the ordinary. it is strange, on the other hand great for people who came to check it out. >> i saw a beautiful dolphin that is lost. >> internet said there's a dolphin so we said boss is gone let's go. >> i took video i'm hoping the video came out better than the snapshots. >> reporter: the marine mammal center had people out here yesterday the fire captain came out took a look kept an eye on the creature but say it doesn't seem to be hurt, distress or hungry. at this point the best thing they can do is leave it alone and hope it finds a way back out into open water on its own

maybe that is the case this morning we'll keep an eye out if we spot it as the sun comes up maybe we can prove it is no longer here. katie marzullo, abc7 news. richmond wants to sort out a mystery where san pablo city counciller claims he was assaulted and woke up miles from where he was tacked. councilman rick morris runs a property management agency he told police on july 3rd, he visited a home on san joaquin street his firm just acquired. he was on the doorstep when a man suddenly ran out yelling get out, get out. that man punched him in the chest. morris fell backwards and hit his head on the concrete. >> there's no reason to believe he was tacked because he's a council person i don't think he time to tell the -- person he was the new property manager. i think the person that attacked him didn't want him on the property. >> morris says the -- he next

remembered waking up in the passenger seat of his car in the parking lot of golden gate fields. he refused our request for an interview. there won't be a retrial in the case of will lynch, the man who admits to beating a priest he says molested him as a child. the d.a.'s office says it won't refile a against lynch for punching gerald lindner. the jury deadlocked on that misdemeanor charge last week and acquitted lynch on felony assault. lynch's attorneys say the decision means lynch can move on with his life. during the trial father lindner denied claims that he molested lynch. the d.a.'s office is considering a perjury charge against lindner. napa police arrested a substitute teacher also a football coach on charges that he had sex with two teenaged girls. the 25-year-old remains in jail his bail is one million

dollars. detectives claim daniels met the girls through a social networking site. they also suspect he had sex with the girls inside his home. fremont police need help finding the man who followed a teenaged girl and grabbed her. the attack took place 4:25 after the girl walked home from a school bus stop tuesday afternoon. the girl says the man grabbed her around the neck and choked her after he asked for directions to the nearest atm. the girl escaped with minor injuries. her attacker was seen running eastbound on stevenson. remains of a bay area world war ii vet will be coming home today after 68 years. the remains was recently discovered on a south pacific island he was killed at age 19 when his plane crashed into a cliff during a night training mission in 1944. his casket will arrive at san francisco international

today and be escorted to a mortuary in sunnyvale. he will be buried tomorrow at go national cemetery in san bruno. dog owner accusing menlo park police of being trigger happy after they shot and wound her pit bull puppy. she claims her dog mr. is not -- dog mister is not vicious. one officer claims mister ed at him both opened fire one bullet passed through the dog's skull near his eye. >> why do you have tasers? why do you have your clubs? why do you have any other gadgets if you are going to pull for your gun and shoot first? >> it is unclear if the dog will be -- will end up losing that eye. she happens to be the same woman who was nicknamed strawberry short cake when she served on the jury that convicted scott peterson of

average scorching in the east bay valleys. doppler good news showing a dry commute this morning. still in the low to mid 60s fairfield, antioch, livermore. everybody else 50s. good news is it has been comfortable overnight low to mid 50s monterey bay and inland. it will be not as hot today still going to be hot as quite as hot in some areas, spare the air poor air quality in the east bay valleys more clouds cooler at night that will transition to cooler afternoons, temperatures back to seasonal averages into the weekend. pretty close close today in san francisco 66 redwood city 82 oakland one degree warmer san jose two napa four livermore 101, 13° warmer than average. you can see little fog here around the bay and it is going to be persistent and stubborn

good morning. thanks for joining us i'm kristen sze. i'm eric thomas. oakland homicide detectives on the scene of a killing at a motel they are already saying this will be tough to solve. amy hollyfield is live at the starlight motel. >> reporter: police got here to this coverager room at 3:00 this morning. -- this corner room at 3:00 this morning and found a man trying to perform cpr on the

woman. a dispatcher was trying to tell him how to do it but it was too late police believe in woman was murdered haven't said how but said there was a lot of blood in the room they didn't give us a name or age but believe she is an oakland resident. homicide investigators just arrived. they going to add this to a long list of cases that they are working. >> there's been at least three or four in the last 24, 48 hours specifically -- [ inaudible ] this area of patrol out here pretty busy. >> reporter: this is the starlight motel at macarthur and 100th avenue in oakland. police don't have any witnesses. they say that is going to make it a tough case to solve. they said the man who was with her, knew her but didn't elaborate on his relationship. they haven't said what they think the motive is or if they know wait is. no arrests have been made. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. the justice department is
