entered this home. the neighbor says they acted quickly. >> within minutes they had extra indicated two people out of there. and one being a baby that i saw lifeless here as they were trying to revive the baby. >> the toddler, and adult residents were taken to the hospital. hours later the sad news. >> unfortunately, we have one fatality report of a 2-year-old boy. >> and the chief told us the fire may have been set accidentally perhaps by candles in the second floor hallway. just a little while ago, some of the family members showed up here at the cul-de-sac and said that the two adults taken to the hospital where the grandparents of the toddler and they're in critical condition. now, they explained that they're hindus and they have prayer altar in the second floor hallway. perhaps it was a candle in

that prayer altar set off the blaze. at any rate, the fire is under investigation. and of course, the family members are grieving and coming together for support. you'll hear from some of them at 5:00 tonight. >> thank you. >> and what started as an early morning fire in the concord garage is now a police investigation. firefighters on the scene say they found evidence of a marijuana growing operation at the home on st. francis drive. a fire inspector says someone was trying to illegally supply power to the home. police did take one person into question. firefighters rescued those sleeping inside. one person suffered smailg. >> the sheriff's department is asking for more money today to expand a detention center, many people say it isn't needed. that would add 150 inmates to the west contra costa detention center. the sheriff says he needs money because the jail is filling up faster than expected and that would come

that white gerter is the first 300 foot stretch of the rails which will connect the airport to the air -- bart station right now, about 3.2 mile stretch. there is going to be two of the rail tracks. for the people involved in this project they called this a major milestone. >> there is one of 500 workers on this project. from the perch atop these pylons she says she thinks about the rider as board the air part bus that's the air train will be replace mg two years. >> i think that there is going to make their lives easier. you know? they can just get on the train, getting their five minutes left. >> she's one of 100 local workers employedthon pro project. this milestone is a steel truss installed this week. it's 300 feet of rail, and each night, more will be

not heroics for a construction worker nearby who sprang into action. and yellow house is where the fire broke out. and the toddler and two adults were in the back bedroom. workers were at this house and they rescued one person and tried to reach the toddler. >> this house was on fire. they're trying to call the emergency number. >> and he was with other workers in a house under construction. the fire started in the split level home here at the end of a cul-de-sac. firefighters had yet to arrive so workers took matters into their hands and went to the rescue of the person in the second floor bedroom. >> and there is a ladder.
