three-year-old girl is recovering after surviving a fall from a second store window. it happened this morning. the little girl was standing on a bed, then accidentally fell on to the screen and then through the window. she suffered bumps and bruises. the girl is being held for observation at children's hospital in oakland. >> alan: we learn that a bicyclist struck and killed in downtown berkeley was noted professor from israel. 65-year-old slow mow -- shlomo bentin was a guest lecturer at uc berkeley. police say the driver unknowingly hit bentin yesterday afternoon and return to the scene after being alerted by a passing motorist. >> what gap -- began as a robbery ended with two suspects in custody. two suspects drove away and police began a pursuit. the suspects crashed into a tree at 14th and poplar street.

they tried to run away but police were on scene to grab them. >> alan: oakland law enforcement officials believe they put a huge dent in the city's crime problem. charges against the mafia including trafficking, identity theft and firearm possession. the u.s. attorney says the indictment stems from an 18-month long investigation. >> ama: nearly 2,000 firefighters are still battling a wildfire in the sierra foot hills. it's burning near forest hill and coal vac in placerounty. the fire forced 300 people to leave their homes and has blackened more than 1400 acres. part of the work this weekend will include bulldozing lines of defense between mountain communities and the fire. it's now 20% contained. >> farther north, the mill fire is now 50% contained. it's burned about 40 square miles of the mendocino national forest. officials say the fire has destroyed five outbuildings and
