around 6:00 this evening officers stopped a car near union city boulevard and smith street. there were four people inside. three were arrest but the murder suspect ran. a police dog found him hiding in brush. the some had some dog bite wounds and was taken to the hospital. police have nod said which san francisco homicide is connected to she suspect. >> ama: a presidio restaurant starting selling foie gras. something banned in california on july 1st. a special report in 2003 by abc-7 triggered the legislation leading to the ban but the restaurant says the ban doesn't apply to them because they're on federal land. the mass roman is live from the presidio with more. >> you're right. flaw gow can't be produced or sold in california bought bay area restaurant give it away trying to get around the law, and tonight the presidio social club says it can sell it legally. the presidio social club is

abc-7 news. >> alan: federal maritime officials approved a new plan to keep whales in and around from crashing into ships. concern is with the west shipping lane that ends near the farallon island. the plan is to extendes three miles farther into the ocean. since 2010 half a whales have been killed by huge cargo ships and the new plan will include better ways to track whale locations, including a whale spotting and reporting program. >> hopefully with that type of a strategy, we can actually base some of the practices on where we know the whales are at that time as opposed to traditionally based on seasonal averages of where the whales might be. >> it's a win-win recommendation. the shipping company, they don't want to hit whales. environmental groups want to save the wales,e and the

sanctuary, our job is to protect the whales, and with this new proposal to extend the shipping lanes we all win. >> the new regulations are pending final review by the united nations international maritime organization. >> benecia police are on the hunt for a man who shot at officers after they pulled him over. it started with a traffic stop on time and rose drive in benecia. an officer realized it was a stolen car and the suspect opened fire. we're live in benecia with the very latest. >> that manhunt continues. there are four different police agencies helping in the manhunt. the sheriff's department and california highway patrol have cordoned off a large area of benecia that includes condominium areas and park areas. i can tell you they are actively searching with firearms.

we have seen they have rifles as well. obviously they are concerned because this man opened fire at a police officer and in fact we understand that the person shot several -- several shots at the police officer. i can tell you at this point as well, that police officer who was fired upon, she returned fire, she was not injured, we do the -- when the vehicle was pulled over, there was a woman and a baby in that car. that vehicle has since been recovered. that child and that woman, they are safe with police. we understand that as the gunman left that vehicle, he took off running, and then attempted to take another vehicle. we understand that was not successful. but again, the gunman remains at large. so there is still some concern for the public. in fact police lieutenant told me just about an hour ago that since this is an active search

they're advising residents to stay indoors. we're in the area around columbus parkway and rose drive. so there's a rather large area they are concentrating the search on. several people have come up to us, asking us what is going on. so there's a very visible presence of police officers. police tell us that, again, if you are in the area, you should probably stay indoors because this is an active police search. reporting live, sergio quintana. >> ama: a mall plane tripped updied down during a crash landing in marin county. it happened near knot's field in novato. the experimental plane crashed into the marsh. the fire crews say the pilot, who was solo, walked away with mine nor injuries. >> alan: defense attorney released surveillance video that he says casts a different light on his client who is accused of running down and seriously injuring a firefighter in san francisco.

last thanksgiving, 29-year-old cal firefighter was hit by a car at a gas station. the lawyer for the accused claims this video shows vertal and a friend leaving leaving the jack-in-the-box prior to the incident. in the the restaurant the lawyer claims his cleaned client was by bartal. >> the young man rushes around the manager and sort of almost leaping, just out of nowhere, strikes mr. shapiro in the face, and then tackles him like he is a pit bull. >> torres says the tape shows bartel was the aggressor, bartel has been in a coma since he was hit. >> ama: we learned the bicyclist who was hit was a psychology professor at the hebrew university of jerusalem and a guest lecturers a uc berk limp

sky 7hd was over the scene. police say the driver, unknowingly hit bentin yesterday afternoon and returned to the scene after being alerted by a passing motorist. >> the chp is investigating the death of a motorist as a crime. it happened in santa rosa. a black acura may been chasing a motorcyclist just before 5:00 tonight. a witness says both vehicles were racing on the two-lane road and hit a third car. that car then flipped over and gap to burn with the victim underneath, a chp spokesman says drugs and alcohol are likely involved. >> alan: in fremont a three-year-old girl survived a two story fall. she ways standing on a bed and leaned then oven. the screen popped out and the girl fell through the window, land only the concrete below. tonight she is being held for observation at children's hospital in oakland. >> at least one home has now been destroyed in the roberts

afternoon, as those offshore winds will push the fog off the coast tomorrow, and a much cooler temperatures as we head into the first part of next week. lows basically tonight in the mid-to upper 50s. a few 60s, interior east bay, look out for drizzle as well, and overnight, you'll notice the food bank -- fog bank extending out almost towards the delta. that 5:00 a.m. but at 11:00 the offshore winds develop and push the fog off the coast so look for more sunshine tomorrow, and that will translate to some warmer temperatures. if you are participating in a.i.d.s. walk san francisco tomorrow, golden gate park, clouds in the morning and then it break is out into sunshine by late in the afternoon. we look for temperatures in the mid-to-low 60s. >> here's the setup. low pressure -- trough of low pressure brought us the cooling in the past two days. tomorrow it will start to push a little to the north of us. that will allow the offshore

>> ama: all lanes of the bay bridge just re-opened. three lanes of the upper deck were closed just before 8:30 after a truck spilled afall -- asphalt. you can see in this live look there that the traffic is moving smoothly again. i'm ama daetz. >> alan: i'm alan wang. in benecia, police were searching for a man who shot at an officer. we have knew developments so let get right to sergio quintana who is live with the latest. >> reporter: i was just told by the police that they have called off the large-scale search they had in progress for the last several hours. they tell me that the detectivetives will continue tracking the suspect. he has not been taken into custody. let's show you some video. this is video of the police car

that the suspect shot at. you can see there are multiple bullet holes in the windshield of the car. police say this started at 6:30 this evening when the officer pulled over the vehicle and she learn it was stolen. shortly after that the suspect started firing at the officer. she was not hit and she returned fire. the gunman then sped off, and abandoned the car. he then tried to take control of another vehicle. that did not -- that was not successful. benecia police with the help of other agencies encircled a large area for several hours but just called off the large-scale search. the person they suspect is still armed. >> we're assuming he is armed because he shot at the officer. however, since he has fled, and has not been located, we don't know if he still has the gun in his possession or if he got rid of it. >> reporter: there was a woman and a child in that car with the
