morning. they quickly called police. it's not yet clear exactly when those vandals were able to make it into the fenced-in area. it is clear they did some damage. this morning we saw a whole team of crime scene investigators, including an fbi agent and then throughout the rest of the day we have been seeing city workers assessing the damage and trying to fix the problem. a small portion of the chain-link fence surrounding the facility was snipped over. vandals did not make into it the building but some cables were cut. >> all of our vital services we provide to the city were not impacted as relates to public safety. >> this is one of the broadcast points for police, fire, and other city crew radio communications, and while none of the systems were affected, what vandals cut are lines for one of the building's air conditioning systems. the fbi was called in because this is an emergency communications hub and a facility with a number of security measures in place. >> surveillance cameras.

we don't want to go into specifics of security protocols and procedures but there are cameras. >> most visitors are often unaware of the towers in part because of the spectacular views the peaks have of downtown san francisco. in this case the vandals were simply looking to do damage. there will no cables or other material stolen from the site. vandalism of public property is unfortunately a regular ocures. >> vandalism is hard to plan for, but the good thing about that location is very secure and very robust. >> i should point out that city officials and police investigators aren't giving away a whole lot of office at this point, in part because their investigation is still continuing, but also because this is a secure facility and they don't want to give away too many details.

>> alan: in benecia, police finally captured a man who was on the run for 13 hours after police say he exchanged fire with an officer. robert florez foster of american canyon was taken into custody this morning. the shooting happened late yesterday afternoon following a routine traffic stop. foster tried to speed off after the officer realized he was driving a stolen car. then police say he stopped and started shooting at the officer, who returned fire. foster got away but detectives tried him to vallejo. >> they noticed a person matching the suspect description walking down the street, and ultimately he fled on foot and was lock cased in the backyard of a residence and taken into custody. >> alan: foes foster is charged with a number of felonies and is scheduled to me arraigned on tuesday. two men are facing charges in connection with a murder that happened friday in san francisco. one of the suspects was arrested

after police stopped a car last night in union city. anthony pratt and another map war booked oregon murder charges. they're linked to the shoot of gary smith. smith was found dead on the sidewalk in san francisco. >> ama: a woman in secretary rosa faces vehicular manslaughter charges in a suspected domestic violence case that escalated into a high-speed chase. 28-year-old heather howell was in a black acura yesterday chase manage she knows who was driving a motorcycle. witnesses say say it appears she was trying to hit the motorcycle. during the pursuit she clipped another car and then slammed into the year of a 1969 triumph spit fire. that car flipped and caught on fire. the man driving the spit fire died. >> alan: a fallen overhead wire caused a brief delay in muni service this morning. it shut down the inbound n line
