[ unintelligible ] also, in san francisco, street closed south of market near mosconey due to president obama's visit. amy hollyfield will have more, more details expected closures as well headed towards sfo in oakland live shot bay bridge toll minor wait for the cash paying lanes. to our continuing coverage of the tragedy in colorado. in less than two hours the shooting suspect james holmes could be in court his appearance set for 7:30. holmes has not been speaking to authorities following the shootings that left 12 dead and 58 injured. holmes is being neddle solitary confinement -- is being held in solitary confinement. it is possible his attorney could show up loan for the proceeding. holmes won't be charged today. prosecutors have three days to file charges there will be at

the "los angeles times" reports the movie made 160 million dollars this past weekend. the paper is citing sources within the industry. if true that would be the third highest box office gross ever. the shooting is affecting red carpet premieres. warner brothers has cancelled events in paris, mexico city and tokyo. abc news will have continuing coverage of the theater massacre get the latest on abc7news.com. president obama is now in the bay area after visiting colorado. he has a very busy day ahead with stops in reno and east bay. amy hollyfield joins us from the south of market area where the president is staying. >> reporter: he's staying at the inter-continental hotel south market this area is getting busy with people arriving, trying to get to

work. it is on lockdown. they've got three blocks in every direction of this fifth and howard area blocked off, one officer told me he thinks there's 70 to 90 cops out here. even hotel employees aren't allowed to park near the hotel they have to park outside the perimeter and walk in. president obama arrived at sfo at about 8:15 last night. his arrival was not open to the public. sometimes you see him shaking hands and greeting, not last night. he and mitt romney are both here in the bay area. romney has a full schedule of fundraisers that started yesterday for him. a political consultant told us that is what this visit for both of them is about. >> california has solidly been a state that barack obama is going to win for the past several years that is not going to change. with these visits purely to raise money. >> reporter: the president

ncaa has just announced sanctions against penn state in the wake of the sex abuse scandal. you are looking at a live picture from that news conference. we now know what the punishment will be. the sanctions include, a 60 million dollar fine. also, a reduction in scholarships, specifically penn state has to reduce 10 and 20 total scholarships each year for four years. and the university's wins from the 1998 through 2011 seasons will be vacated. that means joe paterno will no longer be the leader in wins. also penn state will be banned from bowl games for four years, all because of the sex abuse scandal involving former football coach jerry sandusky. 6:15 in southeastern texas investigators looking into a vehicle accident that killed 12 and injured 10. the texas highway patrol says

delays around the area and look out for rolling closures as president obama heads to sfo around 11:25 this morning. we want to take you back to our breaking news story. double shooting in san jose. katie marzullo has rushed to scene at 7th and washington. are they still searching for a gunman? >> reporter: they are and they don't know if they are searching for one or more than one they have no information on the suspect. you can see to the crime scene, 300 block of north 7th street, the sergeant of the san jose police department confirmed moments ago two people were shot and killed around 4:20 this morning they got the call, reports of gunfire, when officers got on the scene they went into the home they believed to be involved an -- and found two bodies in the house, one man and one woman, dead at the scene they are not releasing anything else. again, back to the suspect

howard. now breaking news san jose. the search is on for a suspect after two people were shot and killed early this morning. katie marzullo is live at the scene. >> reporter: we are on the scene shooting happened early this morning around 4:20 on the 300 block of north 7th. still an active crime scene also active the search for a suspect for suspects, very little to go on now. two people were shot and killed in san jose. i just talked with the sergeant of the san jose police department he laid out the facts of the crime as we know them now. >> 4:20 this morning, officers responded to the 300 block of north 7th on a report of gunfire heard by neighbors. upon their arrival officers located the house entered and found two victims one male,

one female both adults. we don't have any suspects in custody but we are searching as a matter of public safety in the area. we don't know how the suspect fled it is possible he or she may still be in the area. >> reporter: again, they don't know if the suspect or suspects are still in the area and they don't know how many people they are looking for. earlier they thought they had a description of a car but the police department has backed away from that. unknown, anything additional about the victims one man and one woman shot dead in the home the sergeant wouldn't tell met average age of those two people. katie marzullo, abc7 news. now our continuing coverage of the tragedy in colorado in a few minutes james holmes could be in court. apparently he does not have to be present. it is possible his attorney could show up alone for the

proceeding. holmes won't be charged today. prosecutors have three days too file the charges there will be at least 71, one for each victim and probably more. massive turn out for last night's vigil in aurora for the victims. people came together in a prayer and remembrance. ama daetz heard one man say it felt like people came together as a family. the theater shootings have left an impact on the entire city. >> i think everyone is affected in one way or another. >> one man assembled 12 crosses and drove 16 hours from illinois bill his own memorial to the victims -- to build his own memorial to the victims. president obama spent part of the weekend visiting with the families. >> the president: when you have an opportunity to visit with families who have lost their loved ones as i described to them, i come to

inland upper to mid 80s through wednesday >> a live shot of the bay bridge toll, not much change since my last report. fastrak lanes still backed up to west grand but it hasn't grown tremendously, in the last eight minutes. we'll check out the san mateo bridge, so far looks good, a little more crowded westbound as you head out of the hayward towards foster city and 101. 101 problem-free through the peninsula. 101 north bay, southbound traffic in san rafael, still flowing nicely towards 580 to the golden gate bridge. no major trouble out of novato. in the south bay northbound 280 good out of the downtown san jose towards cupertino. this is 17 coming out of santa cruz mountains, just at the top of your screen, that's fine as well. we are picking up slowing on northbound 101 in san jose, with the waze traffic app,

to 50 people have been left homeless a cause has not been determined. fire crews are making sure a 75 acre wildfire near vacaville doesn't flare-up again this morning it was reported 2:30 yesterday along west ranch lane. it appears to be accidental, but they have not determined the cause. sky 7 hd was overhead as firefighters husband dulled -- husband selled to present the flames from reaching a half dozen homes. 150 firefighters were called in to protect them. three helicopters made two dozen water drops. it took over an hour to get the fire under control. we have meteorologist lisa argen in for mike this morning. i know i heard the words, thunderstorm possibility. that's in the bay area or outside? >> outside. vacaville hot yesterday, breeze this morning cooling-off locally, thunderstorms in the sierra nevada right now from our sutro cam you can see low

marine layer, second system to the north and west of us for days now and that's going to spread the marine layer further east and going to take longer to clear. that means cooler highs, 82 campbell, 79 in cupertino today with low 70s from san mateo on our coast taking time clear but sunny later upper 60s south city partly cloudy there north bay southerly winds knocking down highs with just 80, san rafael, 72 in oakland, mid 70s towards castro valley feeling good from the upper 80s to maybe a 90° reading, breezy, cloudy now along the central coast that will change we'll see afternoon sun and giants game starting out in the low 60s, cool, breezy, bring the jacket and back home for the next seven days today the warmest day of the week cooler tomorrow in the 80s inland valleys through the middle of the week.
