remaining at large after escaping from police this morning just after 7:00 on east 14th stleet. police noticed a car speeding at about 100 miles per hour. they chose not to chase it fearing for public safety. the driver hit the curb, may have lost control before leaving the silver jeep cherokee on a lawn. he took off running. the suspect is described as a 25-year-old white or hispanic male with jeans and carrying a backpack. >> a vigil taking place for a murdered couple that left three children behind while the expect killer expected to be in southern california. police say the 31-year-old is likely already in either los angeles or san taig. he has two tattoos, initials p and c, and on his right lower leg a picture of the grim reaper. monday morning police found

going to take to you east oakland where the driver of a stolen suv crashed into a car

then a house before police made an arrest. this happened on 55th avenue in the wentworth holland area. first how are the kids? >> the kids are okay. and we're happy to report that and we stood by to make sure opd could update us. it's one of those things to give you an idea i'm east of 880 on 55th avenue. there are some tense moments here in this community. the driver of a stolen vehicle crashed and then got out of the car and tried to hide in the neighborhood this, view helped to illustrate a series of events that forced police to lock down this neighborhood searching for a man they say is responsible for sending two ininnocent bystanders to the hospital. police say they spotted this

white lexus on 38th and lion avenue. when they tried to stop the car they say the driver sped away. and there is a driver crashing here but not before forcing a driver of this black cam yairo off the road and crashing into this home. this driver jumped and took off into the neighborhood. that set off a large manhunt with the police getting help from patrol, and even the oakland police helicopter. and there are officers making a shocking discovery. the driver left his girlfriend and two small children in the car to fend for themselves. >> she stayed with the children. >> first responders began a check to make sure the children were not harmed. this is a shot of the

frightened woman and an unidentified police officer trying to comfort the children. at one point this small child seems to reach out to the officer for comfort and she quickly responds, taking the toddler in her arms and begins soothing the child. a short time later the man they had been looking for was cap zpurd taken into custody. and i don't need to tell you we cover these often but when we have small children it changes the narrative. both children are okay as were the two men. police tell us the driver of the stolen car is not cooperating right now. in oakland abc 7 news. >> there is some promising research reported at the international aids conference, researchers believe bone narrow -- marrow transplants may have cured two men.
