along the coast. it will still be cloudy by lunch but getting into the lower 80s in interior areas and then a widespread, range of highs around 4:00 from 60 a's near the coast. upper 80s inland. clouds will be moving in tonight. i'll have the seven-day forecast as well as events coming up. >> terry: updating developments in los gatos, a female is dead. another seriously injured after a limo bus accident on southbound 17. california highway patrol says details are being pieced together. investigation is ongoing. the two females was out of the vehicle and deceased was run over by the limousine bus. they closed 17 for 90 minutes until 3:30 this morning. we're expecting more information from the chp in how the female died in just a little bit.

>> this morning, san jose police have a new piece of evidence in the double homicide. a car belonging to the prime suspect has been found in san jose. they believe medina shot and killed two men in a domestic violence dispute. three children were left orphaned. medina is thought to be heading to southern california. his car was being towed and held in evidence. >> it's a pretty good bet that the casino m8trix is about to open for business. it's lit up like a river boat even though the building remains vacant. that may be about to change and soon. casino m8trix is just off 101 in san jose. john alston describes the final hurdle they must clear before the doors get open. >> it's quiet now but the owners are hoping that sometime next week these 49 tables will be

hopping once the city's division of gaming control gives final approval. >> we submitted all the documentation we believe they require. as soon as we get feedback from them, we're hoping we can literally pay for the permit, pick it up and later next week open the front doors. >> reporter: police chief signed off on the card room providing they meet conditions. it has to test the surveillance system making sure there is off-site tv monitors at gaming control. the city wants to make sure they get information from tracking devices showing player activity and how fees are collected and paid. city councilman says the outstanding issues are relatively minor. >> i think there are issues that will be resolved very quickly. we should expect them to open shortly. >> by law they have to shut down their other casino in town. eventually they want to open

another salon near the airport but it could take months. the new casino is expected to create 300 new jobs. it would be one of two card rooms in san jose. >> they generate $15 million in tax revenue. i think we could probably say we'll see 20% increase of that over the next year. >> not everyone is thrilled about the new and bigger casino. >> it doesn't sound good. between the cities it's into the good idea actually. >> vocal opposition was virtually non-existent. plan is to build a hotel and they are looking to still hire about hundred people. >> terry: in less than an hour from right now a massive search will get underway in pacifica for a woman that hasn't been

seen for days. she is considered at risk based on her mental condition and fact that nobody has seen her since wednesday afternoon. they are calling forecommunity response team volunteers to help with the search. a multi-agency task force will set out 9:00 this morning from san pedro park in pacifica. >> a woman who is morbidly obese says she has no place to go. here is nick smith. >> reporter: gloria turned 53 on tuesday but it's another number that has put any celebration she may have on hold. >> i weigh 810 pounds. >> because of her weight she has limited mobility and suffers from a host of medical issues. >> i came in because i had infection. >> last week. she was admitted here to washington hospital in fremont. after one week she was

discharged with no resources and no one available to provide her with the care he is desperately needs. >> i can't be home sitting on this bed rotting because i don't get turned every day. >> it shows how labor intense cive to transported gloria. >> it doesn't make me less of a person. >> why should it be washington's responsibility to take care of you? >> they have more ability. more than i can ever have to help me. >> washington hospital provided this statement to "abc 7 news." the patient was discharged after he no longer needed acute care as was discussed with the patient's family. the hospital agreed to supply in-home care for the patient but what isn't clear what the family

can do today. the family is not medically trained and the clock is ticking. >> the hospital says that they will provide gloria with in-home support services for 14 days. what isn't clear is what she will do on day 15. >> terry: this morning a 12-year-old boy crushed by a free in the san mateo park is recovering from surgery at stanford. his family has reached out exclusively to abc news, he will lose his right leg. zachary was camping when a tree fell on his tent early wednesday morning. a friend described what happened next. >> ago ri was saying things like my legs feel like jelly. kind of rolling back and forth. we thought maybe he was half asleep. >> he suffered a crushed pelvis. doctors are worried about internal bleeding. he was scheduled to start school

in two weeks, all of that on hold. >> warning going out to the elderly in san francisco, crooks may offer you spiritual help while offering themselves to your money. they warn people about this crime. strangers approach their target, usually elderly chinese women and prey on their superstitions, saying they are cursed or haunted. the new twist is the suspects are touching them the entire time. >> some of these victims that we're encountering are telling us they feel like they might have been drugged in some manner or put under some type of spell from this physical contact. there is nothing we've been able to confirm. the victims hand over their money, and the criminals take off. there have been dozens of new victims in the past few weeks. more than $250,000 in cash and $90,000 in jewelry have been taken from victims in this

the body of aurora shooting victim jontd blun t is back home. they arrived at mortuary about 6:30 last night. a navy and marine corps veterans honored the victim. he served three tours of duty. blunt died last week while trying to save another person's life at the movie theater in colorado. a public funeral service takes place next friday morning at 9:00. >> imagine opening a bag of candy and finding a dull and rusty knife blade. take a look. it's about three inches long. certainly sharp enough to do some cutting. here is news reporter karina rusk. amy hu ate two pieces of the candy when she pulled out a third item that made her scream

to her husband. >> there is knife in my candy bar. i showed him and he said that was crazy. >> the condition of the dull blade immediately made her concern for her one-month-old daughter. >> eating something that was touching this dirty knife, i don't know what i put in my body. i could have hepatitis. >> the mother's biggest worry is there could be other contaminated packages out there. she contacted the hershey company. since shy bought eight santa clara safeway store she went to the santa clara police department. >> the fact the package was completely sealed and there was candy residue on it that it did appear it came from the factory. >> the package says the candy is manufactured in brazil. hershey issued us a statement saying we believe there is an isolated case. we will be taking the needed actions to prevent it happening from in the future.

the cloud cover is. the areas of light gray, see some clearing in the inland valleys. clouds breaking through. we saw a little bit of that earlier in san jose. take a look at temperatures right now. visibility limited in santa rosa. down to a mile, and fog reported there, as well. 53 for you. 54 in san francisco and 57 in san jose right now. we have a very standard summertime pattern, low clouds and fog for the evening and even coastal drizzle. terry and i had to use the wipers on the way to work. tomorrow, sunny and climbing a few more degrees for the next few days and steady pattern for the week. here is why. over the last 12 hours, not much change, high pressure air moves in high to lower than. we've got onshore flow but with high pressure we have sunny conditions during the afternoon. so very quiet typical summertime

pattern with the overcast conditions into the morning. the clouds pull back to the coast. areas of green, a little drizzle in the forecast model. by 3:00, pretty much sunshine for everybody. clouds still lingering right around half moon bay down towards santa cruz but just along part of the peninsula coast. santa cruz should see a lot more sunshine. then tonight the clouds will start to move back in overnight. highs today in san jose, 80 degrees. a lot of sunshine as well on the peninsula on the bayside. 77 in mountain view. here along the coast. 61 in pacifica. giants game 68 degrees with more sunshine for you. then you see more clouds as you head further to the coast like daly city. in the north bay look for 80s, with 85 in sonoma. 70s in the east bay. 73 in oakland. upper 80s to even 90 degrees in

stalemate in congress that could result in higher taxes on americans next year. he is pressing the house of representatives to extend bush-era tax cuts but only for households making $250,000 or less. >> everyone says we should agree to extend the tax cuts for the middle-class. when we agree on something it should be easy to get it done. right now that is not the case. instead of doing what is right for middle-class families and small business owners, republicans in congress are holding these tax cuts hostage until we extend tax cuts for the wealthiest americans. >> on the republican side, orrin hatch calls for extending tax cuts for all americans. firestorm surrounding the fast food chain chick-fil-a is heating up. mayor ed lee is warning them to stay out of his city because of comments the company's ceo made.

>> terry: we want to update you on developing news in los gatos this morning, one woman is dead. another seriously injured after a limo bus accident on southbound 17 about 2:00 this morning. california highway patrol tells us the bus was taking a group of people back to santa cruz to a brad paisley concert in mountain view when two women in 20s got into a fight on the bus. somehow both women women fell through the front door of the bus. one was run over and killed. second suffered scrapes and bruises. chp investigation kept southbound highway 17 closed at lark avenue for two hours. the road is back open. there have been no arrests. >> if you ever thought that your child's school was a little run down, here is information that may confirm it. one-third of the schools are more than 50 years old. superintendent of schools is outlining a plan to create 21st

century learning victims. here is lyanne melendez in what it may look like. >> 10% of schools are over 70 years old. that is one in ten. and 30% are over 50. >> there is a lot of need, retrofit, energy efficiency and keeping the investment going. >> that is superintendent of california schools who says it's time to invest in brick and mortar. even in these continuing hard times. the key is to find creative ways to fund projects. for that, he asked u.c. berkeley's center for cities and schools to come up with recommendations. center looked at how other states are using multiple sources of funding. >> sometimes they use bond funds, they may use a tax or something like lottery funds or special business tax. >> oakland unified has also used

grants from private institutions such as kaiser. health care provider held health centers like oakland high where they get health and mental services. and the new one. >> when this project is done we'll have 15 health based clinics and i think that is more than any district in the state. >> part of the money came to build it from a voter approved bond. now district will ask voters again in november for another $475 million. >> i think this community understands we're investigating in quality schools in every neighborhood. the community is rallying to support the bond. it is really hard time in california, but i think we're demonstrating leadership for positive work. >> it's worth mentioning that bond does not include charter schools even though 20% of oakland public school students attend charter schools.

>> terry: take you up above and down below. live picture from mount tam camera, you can see the trees are blowing a bit in the breeze and overcast that is affecting significant parts of the bay area. sunshine up top is coming on down. now, we come over to the rooftop cam and you can see the breeze, nothing too strong. you see the overcast and see the strong trying to come over to the port of oakland. looks like the sun is breaking through and getting down on the water. we have a nice day and warming trend on the way. we want to thank some of the people that are raising money

i did want to show you live doppler 7-hd as it sweeps around the bay area. this shows you where the cloud cover is. light great and some of the interior conditions and sunny conditions and clouds will be clearing back to the coast. here are the temperatures right now. we're still in the 50s for the most part with the exception of antioch at 61. 54 in san francisco and 56 in san jose and fog reported around the monterey bay. monterey and salinas but it look like it's clearing now. low temperatures right up 54 degrees. we've got the fog and even the coastal drizzle. once again this morning, it will be sunny today much like yesterday, but temperatures will be climbing a little bit starting today. we have a warming trend into monday and then the pattern holds through all of next week. if you like sunshine you are going to get a lot of it. here is the pacific satellite image over the last 12 hours. you notice high pressure still

in place. that is going to stay there for the week. with high pressure air moving from high to low. onshore flow but the high pressure gives us the sunny conditions. it will be a nice one ahead and the forecast model shows the clouds pulling back to the peninsula coastguard and then moving back in overnight. areas of light green show the possible drizzle. you see mainly confined to the coast. clouds will move in overnight into at some time morning. so today, expect a nice range of temperatures, very comfortable, 68 in san francisco, so the cool spot, 63 in half moon bay. but we'll be getting into the upper 80s in antioch, 88 and 87 in livermore and in concord and look for 73 in oakland. light breeze in berkeley for the kite festival around 10-15 miles an hour this afternoon. also, 85 in gilroy if you are

the week. >> running the marathon, it was 50s and 60s and 50s and then 60s when i finished. >> in gilroy this weekend, garlic is king at the annual festival. this week the stench is from the thief who stole the tickets who proceed local charities. here is don sanchez with the story. >> a cooking spectacular, garlic and butter and calamari. it has international acclaim for the city and raised the interest of police. a thousand tickets were stolen from the festival office. some people have tried to sell them on ebay. one guy was hawking them out of a van but none have shown up here. >> we had undercover people looking for tickets and we haven't seen any. we're pretty sure people were
