along the coast. temperatures to mid-50s to mid-60s this morning. and noontime mostly sunny with temperatures getting up in the 80s degrees in the inland locations but with the cloudy coast those highs will the in the low 60s. the interior valleys getting up into the mid-80s and this morning mostly clear conditions before the clouds move in. we have a warmup on the way. i will have that with the accuweather seven-day forecast coming up. >> francis, thank you. coaching news out of contra costa county. a two-year-old boy is at children's hospital in oakland, this morning, after being malled by his babysitter's pit bull last night. family members say he was bitten on the head but he does not have life-threatening injuries. officers with contra costa county animal offices arrived on california street shortly after that incident that happened just before midnight. the boy had already been driven to the hospital. a young woman answered the door

and let the officers inside. their policy is to take custody of the dog, but this morning we are waiting for animals service to confirm they did so. mean while the boy's family tells the news they had no idea the babysitter even had a pit bull. we hope to have more on the developing story this morning. contra costa sheriff's investigators are trying to piece together events that led up to the shooting of an eight-year-old man and 22-year-old man at a west pittsburgh home. this morning both victims are recovering from the shooting at local hospitals. witnesses say a man got out of a car on franklin avenue and shot into a home, then drove off. abc7 news reporter, sergio quintonna, has the details. >> the little girl was rushed to the hospital. her mother didn't want to appear on camera because she's worried

for her family's safety but she doesn't know exactly what happened because she wasn't home at the time. >> how did you find out what happened? >> they called me on the phone and said michaela had been shot. i thought they were playing a brink on me but they were telling the truth. >> investigators said they don't have a lot to go on so far. they were called to the hospital after the 8-year-old arrived at the emergency room and witnesses so far have provided some conflicting information. the second victim isn't giving much help also. >> we got a second call of a second gunshot wound victim, a 22-year-old male. at this point we sent another deputy there to start investigations speaking with him. he was not completely cooperative. >> here is what investigators have pieced together. someone drove up to the victim's home in 2900 block of franklin avenue in west pittsburgh. he stepped out of the car and fired two shots at the house. but deputies say they haven't found any substantial evidence at that house. as for the 8-year-old girl,

she's already recovering from her wounds. >> she will have to have some skin grafts or something? >> no. they thought she was, but it's fine. >> in concord, abc7 news. we now know the names of the two people killed in a violent collision yesterday afternoon in san bruno. that accident happened just afternoon at the intersection of el camino. real off the i-380 exit. 37-year-old mr. gomez of south san francisco and a 39-year-old man of san bruno died at the scene. three others were hospitalized. bart police are investigating a shooting at the san leandro bart station last night. someone fired shots at the building just before ten last night. no one was injured. service was fully restored and the station reopened around midnight. investigators want to know if underage drinking led to a

tragedy that killed one woman and sent another to the hospital after an accident on a south bay freeway. it happened on a party bus heading south bound along highway 17 in los gatos late friday night. police say two women got into a fight on the bus on on their way home from santa cruz after a concert at an ampy theater. >> the door of the bus opened and both female passengers fell out of the bus. one got run over and she died at the scene. >> 25-year-old few tasha nolan is the one who died at the scene. the other woman, who is 20 years old, is expected to be okay. at 8:00 this morning searchers this pacifica will resume look for a missing woman who suffers from dementia. 76-year-old maria janssen was last seen wednesday afternoon. abc7 news reporter john alston talked with her husband who is worried sick about his life long

partner. >> where? where is she? i mean, the big question. >> chris janssen is talking about his wife of more than five decades. 76-year-old maria janssen. they often walk on the trails in the park behind their home. on wednesday afternoon he said he finished work on his computer when he noticed his wife was missing. >> she was not there. she was just not there. 2:00 she's sitting there, and 4:00 she's not. she walked out and so i thought maybe out in the backyard. >> all day saturday and for the past several days hundreds of searchers have scoured the rough terrain in and around the park, not only law enforcement from san mateo county and the bay area, but volunteers on horseback, atvs and motorcycles. maria janssen is 5'5", 100 pounds. she was last scene wearing yellow crock garden shoes and green pants. authorities say she suffers from dementia and memory loss. >> i'm extremely worried about

her well-being at this point. she's been gone for three nights and she's 76 years old. >> searchers are concentrating on the park because that is where maria often hikes with her husband or a friend but because of her memory loss police say she could have wandered someplace totally different. they have gotten several tips. >> we have a lot of people in the area, hikers, citizens, residents who live in the area who might have seen her at certain locations. every time we get a tip we follow up on it. >> chris janssen wants to get information out hoping it leads to a miracle discovery but the past few days have been incredibly tough. >> not very good. not very good. this is -- we were married for 54 years. we knew each other for 58 years. >> the scaled-back search begins around 8:00 a.m. the searchers want to look at areas they haven't been able to reach so far and then they will

decide how to proceed from there. in pacifica, john alston, abc7 news. >> a wildfire that may have been intentionally set continues to burn east of ukiah this morning. that fire broke out around 1:30 yesterday afternoon near mill creek road in mendocino county. a viewer of ukiah sent us this video. right now the fire is estimated at 400 acres and is 30% contained. no structures are threatened. the chp is investigating reports of a loud explosion before smoke was spotted. and reports of a man who was seen starting that fire by witnesses. san francisco city officials predict tens of thousands of runners are going to participate in this morning's annual marathon. for the rest of us that means road closers. three lanes of the golden gate bridge will be closed from six to nine this morning and several city streets will also be closed for the runners. one of those is the embarcadero. that race begins shortly at 5:30

will see a massacre in this city and that's what the regime appears to be lining up for. >> the fighting follows unprecedented clashes in the capital, damascus. the rebels are gaining in confidence but are still hugely outmatched in terms of firepower. they know that bringing the fight to syria's biggest cities and capturing them would deal a deadly blow to the assad regime. >> the un security is unable to act soon. so far the u.s. and china has receipt towed the efforts to ramp up pressure on assad. two died on a peruvian mountain about 75 miles north of lima. the two died on a fall after the ridge after reaching the summit of the 20,000-foot peak. their bodies will be returned to the u.s. later this week.

now to the latest to the tragedy in colorado. tomorrow the suspect, james holmes, is scheduled to be back in court to face formal charges, including twelve counts of murder and 58 counts of attempted murder. then this development. a woman critically injured in the shooting has suffered a miscarriage. doctors say it was caused by all the trauma. ashley also lost her six-year-old daughter in that shooting. yesterday three of those who died were laid to rest. clayton has the details. ♪ >> jessica went home one last time to san antonio. >> jess was a norse to be reckoned with. she was a jolt of lightning, a whirlwind. >> one of three funerals for twelve lives cut short. >> you have the right to be advised of the charges. >> we've now learned the suspect james holmes was a psychiatric patient while a gd student at the university of colorado.

his psychiatrist is the school's director of student mental health services. she didn't answer when we knocked. >> prosecution and defense teams are now fighting over a mail that may reveal clues. they said it's confidential between doctor and patient. the doctor never received the notebook but if he made specific threats she had an obligation to report them. >> it's called a duty to warn or duty to protect. >> but there's always a chance he kept his plan secret. >> it's possible the doctor of very little information from james holmes at the time this happened. >> james holmes will be back in court on monday. he's facing potentially hundreds of charges, including twelve counts of first-degree murder, 58 counts of attempted murder. two big questions, will the prosecution eventually seek the death penalty against holmes, and will he mount an insanity defense? >> by the way, the amc theater

some drizzle along the coast once again in the early morning hours particularly. and possibly even some locally dense fog, patchy fog for the most part, though. temperatures right now in the 50s with the exception of antioch at 60 degrees. but 53 in san francisco and 58 in san jose. so here's what you can expect. a very similar weather pattern compared to yesterday. low clouds, coastal drizzle once again, but we will see sunshine, and it will be slightly warmer today in some of the inland locations. and then temperatures are going to really bump up midweek, particularly for the inland locations. i'll show you why. we basically have high pressure over the pacific and that's going to move in. so this is a satellite radar image over the last twelve hours. but this will start to move in. we also have the low pressure system with the air circulating counter clockwise. as that moves toward the east we

will continue to see the on shore flow but high pressure is going to bring us warmer weather inland, in fact getting up to the 90s by the middle of the work week. but the onshore flow will still keep things cool along the coast. so we will take a look at the forecast model showing the low clouds again. by 7:00 the areas of green show the moisture in the air, possibly some drizzle, reaching the ground especially along the peninsula coast. lunchtime, clear for most everybody except right along the coast between san francisco, past half moon bay, night quite santa cruz. santa cruz should see sunshine by that point. 4:00 mainly sunny again but see those clouds? they just really don't leave the coast and then this evening clouds will move in overnight and le we will see a similar pattern but looks like the marine pattern won't be as thick tonight as tomorrow morning. the highs today 83 in south bay, 79 santa clara. look for 70s on the peninsula,

state senate leader is lobbying the 25-member board of trustees to become the replacement for retiring chancellor charles reed. this would give him a substantial raise. his treasure job pace $139,000 a year. the csu chancellor earned more than $421,000 last year. a bone marrow drive take place in oakland this morning starting at 9:00 to help find a matching donor for a 14-year-old oakland girl with leukemia. the screening process is simple. a swab of the mouth reveals if you can save the life of someone who needs a bone marrow transplant n this case an oakland teenager whose own family members are not suitable matches. today's drive for cynthia rodriguez take place on 44th avenue in oakland. it is from nine until three. some young football players got tips from the pros yesterday on how to play the game safely.

usa football brought it's nationwide protection tour to candlestick park. the layers learned several lessons on avoiding head and neck injuries, especially when it comes to tackling. medical professionals provided parents and coaches with tips on how to spot concussions and other serious injuries. >> because they are the ones that are going to know their child best and they are going to know when something is abnormal and they will see the child aft game and live with the child and that's where they will pick up subtle concussions. >> the helmet maker worked one-on-one with players who brought their helmets to make sure they fit properly and are in good shape. crews are continuing their efforts to eradicate a potentially harmful pest in the morgan hill area, the oriental fruit fly. they applied bait stations to trees using a spring machine. it came after four male fruit flies were found in different

the embarcadero. and also as we head farther south we will find mid-50s, as well. 56 currently in santa cruz and watsonville. so we've got low clouds once again, coastal drizzle. sound familiar? then sunny and warmer today. a few degrees warmer in a couple locks, mainly interior areas, and then getting hot inland midweek. we are talking 90s, mid-90s in some locations. here's the specific satellite image. over the last twelve hours high pressure continues to move west as well as the low pressure system. that will continue to bring the on shore flow and as high pressure moves in we see temperatures climb up in the interior valleys and that's what's going to bring our numbers higher around wednesday and thursday. so we will keep an eye on that for you. here's a look at the forecast model, showing you the drizzle, especially along the peninsula coast, areas of green there. then notice by about lunchtime clouds pull back, but still hang

all along the coast here around half moon bay but clear in santa cruz. and even this afternoon, although most of us will be under sunshine, it will still be cloudy just along the coast here and then this evening the clouds will move once again. we will see a little bit of overcast conditions but it doesn't look like the marine layer will be as thick for tomorrow. then we might see temperatures come up even a little bit more. so highs today look for some 80s in the interior areas, 89 when the warmer spots in antioch, 80 in san jose. san francisco 66. of if you are heading to the giants game. 77 in fremont. monterey, well, it's going to warm up, as well. but cooler in monterey. 65. 73 santa cruz and look for 85 in gilroy. in fact, if you are heading to the garlic festival at about 10:00 right when it opens, it's going to be 67 degrees with cloud cover. then the clouds quickly clear. by noon you are going to jump up
