we are learning that prior to the ride's opening last month there was no crane on the side that reaches they feet of 150 feet. they ordered a part to get a crane like this one that could reach the highest point if somebody got stuck. that's what happened yesterday. they were able to power the ride and get the folks down on to the station and they didn't have to use the crane. if they needed to, they could have. they were able to to. and the cal ocea will give the okay for the ride to continue again. vick lee, abc 7 news. >> hopefully they will not need the crane to rescue people again. dispute between friends escalated into a teen stabbing his friend repeatedly. they arrested a 17 year old

suspect. he and his buddy got into an argument playing a video on line. the teen grabbed a rifle and knife and went to the friend's house to confront him. >> he had the gun aimed at me and shot at my son. i went downstair to call the police. he ran back up the stairs and i thought they were fist fight he was stabbing the hell out of my son. the teenager shot at the victim but missed. the victim is recovering from stab wound and expected to survive. >> san francisco police is investigating how a homeless man got his hands on a stock pile of guns and ammunition. they arrested him inside of a gray jeepp in which he was living. they also found survival gear car. it is not the first time police dealt with jones .

he was arrested after leaving a threatening note on a woman's car. >> she took it to the police department. >> jones remains in jail. none of the guns police found in the car were registered in his name. chp is investigating how a san francisco woman fell out of a moving party bun and run over and killed. she died on highway after returning from a concert. she was dahter of the owners of the pacific wave surf shop. 12-15 passengers were on board of the bus and many of them were intoxicated. somehow the door of the bus opened up and nolan was run over by the bus. friends are in shock over the news. >> i just kind of went numb. it is surreal. i am expecting to get a text

or something. the other woman involved in the incident was treated for road rash and extremely lucky. the driver was not charged but two passengers were charged with intoxication . >> crews took two hours to get the pier fiver out. it was scheduled to be a staging area for the america cup sailing race. a spark got into a crack in the concrete wall and ignited the dry wood in the building. >> a woman found dead in a hotel jacuzy. she apparently drowned. she was identified as terry long of san ramon. there is no sign of foul play. police arrested this woman from making unauthorized with

up an oil spill. the story unfolded on fourth street. one of the oil barrels fell off of the truck and poured 100 galons of oil. crews used kitty litter to soak must of it up. another traffic mess in san francisco is going to last a very, very longg time it is around the shopping district of union square. it is the shut down of a major subway project. >> cheryl, you can't get there anymore. from here. stockton stockton street is shut down. there will be a subway station and years of inconvenience as that 1.6 billion dollar subway gets closer to reality. this is stockton street right in the heart of the union square.

a sampling of high temperatures. and numerous locations had highs in the 90s . 71 was the high in san francisco and even right now still pretty hot in spots. 97 degrees inantioch. more hot days inland and we'll cool down in the weekend. the bigger picture shows a hot air mass over the south central u.s.. we are sort of in between sharply contrasting air masses and continue to have mild coastal weather through thursday. and lookking farther ahead. but looking a little bit ahead, we'll have low temperatures in the mid-to upper 50s and a little coastal fog and we don't think it will move far inland or over the

bay. we'll see sunny skies developing and the fog will burn away and it is sunny tomorrow . coast ipland. 60s on the coast and 70s 80s around the bay. and warm in the south bay tomorrow. highs in the mid-to upper 80s. and 82 in the park and palo altow. and low to mid-60s on the coast . downtown san francisco 68 degrees and 64 in the sunset district. 91 in nevada. and east bay, 74 in oakland. and 78 in union city. it will be warm to hot and 96 in antioch. and here's the 7 day forecast.
