in the traffic lanes could become a victim >> reporter: so the question is, why? what was this guy doing up there? we have no further details at this point. the bottom line, all that matters for commuters is closures, of the bridge this morning are done. the man in custody. they are bringing him didn't. the go go bridge is running smoothly. -- as the fog clears, so does the traffic. wayne freedman, abc7 news. the controversy with chick-fil-a chain continues. same-sex marriage supporters are preparing for a protest in which they will flock to the restaurants and kiss. amy hollyfield is live in fairfield with what we can expect. >> reporter: good morning no kissing here in fairfield, at this point. there is a little activity going on this started, one protester has shown up. his sign is inappropriate, we cannot put it on television

talking about a sex act we don't want to mention on tv. a customer is getting into it with him thinking it is inappropriate he is here. no kissing here yet. kissing has started across the country. we have video from outside atlanta where some same-sex couples were kissing at a chick-fil-a today. they are calling this national same-sex kissing day at chick-fil-a. this is in response to wednesday which was support chick-fil-a day that day we saw lines out the door in fairfield, around the block at some restaurants across the country. the company said it was a record day. supporters say they were there because they believe the company's president has the right to say that he doesn't support same-sex marriage. gay rights activists had been calling for boycotts at the restaurant because of the company president's beliefs. today's kiss-off hasn't materialized at the fairfield location. we have been asking people who are here why they are here?

to make a political statement, hungry? we heard a little both. >> there's no one here. i love it. expected it i don't think they want to argue either. i think it is not really -- they've made their point we've made our point. just come to see who would be out here. >> it is not a political statement, to each is own. i'm not going to side with anyone. i'm still gonna support chick-fil-a. >> reporter: the owner of this store tells me this morning she justs want to sell chicken. she wants this to pass. she doesn't want to talk on camera, she is feeling a little anxious. she doesn't know what to expect. we have seen police officers passing through in case they tell us they too aren't sure what to expect but want to keep an eye, just case.

on the facebook page it says 8 p.m. eastern time to kiss at the restaurant. which is 5:00 here in california. this could still happen here today in fairfield. we wanted to pop by to see if at lunch time anything would be going on. we seen kissing elsewhere in the country. this could be a fluid thing that happens throughout the day. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. in southern california this morning vandals hit a chick-fil-a store in torrence. someone spray painted, "tastes like hate" on the side of the restaurant. police are investigating the graffiti which included a dawg of a cow. highway patrol arrested a man after officers say he led them on a chase through four counties. the chase sped through richmond on i-80. it began when pittsburg police tried to stop a stolen car. the driver refused to stop and

kept going on the bay bridge even after officers used a spike strip to deflate his tires. the chase ended highway 4 concord a few miles from where it began, an hour earlier in pittsburg. this morning a san jose parolee is nation several felonies after two officers were injured trying to arrest her. police say the officers tried to stop lisa hernandez, 5:30 last night on story road but they drove off, in the process she hit an officer who suffered a knee injury later she hit another officer sending him to the hospital with a back injury. detectives released a sketch of a suspect they say he was the last person seen with the 28-year-old victim found murdered in his apartment two months ago. he was last seen getting into a taxi with the suspect in front of a castro street bar at 1:30 a.m. on june 12th.

>> a toppled cherry bigger shutdown an intersection this morning the picker flipped over 8:00 this morning hit a lamppost and brought down window washing equipment. the cherry picker was hauling construction material to a work site. the cause is under investigation. baseball hall of famer cal ripken, jr. appealed for help today in catching the man who kidnapped his mother. police in maryland released these images of the man they believe abducted the 74-year-old from her home last week. police found her alive in a car after the kidnapper blindfolded her and drove her around several hours. cal ripken, jr. described how he felt when he her the news his mother had been abducted. >> was the worst feeling you can imagine. but it was a horrible night.

the truck ran off the road down an embankment into a dry riverbed two people inside. one had to be helped out, the other was able to walk out on his own. only minor injuries, good news. now they have to do something with all the the money that is inside. police tell us brink's is sending another truck to pick up the money under heavy security, of course. a lost northern fur seal that showed up in hawaii is in the bay area. officials from sausalito's marine mammal center picked her up this morning and will care for her. the young female was found under weight this week. the first time a wild fur seal has been discovered in hawaii. the seal is named golden misty after olympic gold medal swimmer misty franklin. normal feeding grounds are up north in the aleutian islands.
