right into a trap. >> give me the money or kill, i kill. >> this man say he was robbed to the gunpoint when he respond today an ad on craigslist. he said the person wanted him to come here this quiet section of berkeley to buy the car. when he showed up he was robbed by two men. >> he broke my glass and said give me the money. and i had the guy in my head. give me the money. >> he says he had his wife and two young daughters in the car with limb at the time. he also had the $6,500 in cash seen here that he had to pay for the car. >> because he say only cash, no checks, no nothing, only cash. >> brooklyn police say he's the fourth victim this past week in an increasing rash of these robberies. >> since last week we've had four robberies in the last four days and several weeks prior we've seen at least one or two robberies either within a week or within a couple of weeks. >> officer watson said the

crimes are similar. an ad for a car or electronic device is placed on craig's list. the address is usually in a quiet, upscale oakland neighborhood. the meet is set between eight and 9:00 p.m.. each victim has been robbed at gunpoint usually by men but also a woman was seen. >> victims reported are different races. caucasian, hispanic and african-american males are reported, sometimes working individually or in groups. >> watson said she doesn't know if it's a ring of chiefs or just some robbers who have found easy targets online looking for a bargain. she said that's one of the things to look out for if you are shopping on craigslist, something that looks too good to be true. >> choose areas that are highly populated like grocery stars and parking lots. >> there are warnings posted on craigslist what to lack for when making a purchase but officer watson said if you are going to buy something go with several

people and make sure you are in a populated area. abc7 news. >> oakland's police chief said it is time to impose a curfew on the streets of oakland. violence involving teens and younger children is typically happening late at night. he wants it stopped. the police chief said he will ask the county counsel to impose a curfew to keep heads off the street when they should be at home. not everyone agrees. we have the story. >> violent crimes are up 20% in oakland since january. police chief howard jordan knows something has to be done and likes the idea of a curfew. so does oakland counsel president. he wasn't available, but his chief of staff says he was behind a similar proposal last year. the shootings and the homicides that our young people are involved in as either victims or suspects, they are taking place during these hours, peek hours in the evenings, 10:00 p.m.. >> last year's proposal did not

have the momentum chief jordan hopes his will have. he's counting on the community to put pressure on the city council. this oakland resident said she would support a curfew. >> parents don't have any control on what their children do once they have it in their mind to do something. and regardless of the time. it happens. >> the details of the curfew have not been hammered out. that's why mayor jean quan said she's wait to go see the entire plan. but a council member said she won't support a curfew. >> when you don't have a real strategy you come up with gimmicks to make it look as if you are doing something. >> daniel is with the center on juvenile and criminal justice. one of the first organizations to study the impact of curfews. >> if the intention is to reduce crime, curfews are not a good policy. just the opposite. it's a bad use of police resources. >> and that is something oakland pd does not have. in 2007 there were 741 police

officers. today there are 644. in oakland, leeann melendez, abc7 news. >> someone has knocked over as many as 20 of those controversial crosses that cover a hillside in lafayette. they recommend the americans killed in the war in iraq. peace activists put them up in 2006 to call attention to the human cost of the war but many crosses were immediately pulled down by people supporting the troops and felt the crosses showed an anti-war buy yays. this morning the contra costa sheriff's department said they have not received any complaints about the crosses getting knocked over but as you see here they were knocked over. a section of oakland's international boulevard known as the track where human sex traffickers force victims into prostitution will be walked today by people trying to fight the problem. the group love never fails is responsing today's 5k walk

event. sex traffickers is a major problem in the bay area according to the fbi. the campaign has the support of california police associations and children's groups. oakland mayor jean quan and other community leaders are expected to speak on the prop 25 prison sentences and convicting traffickers. it take place this afternoon at courter gilmour field on 66th avenue just off international boulevard and again in oakland. this morning police in the north bay are on the lookout for three men wanted for walking a jewelry store at gunpoint yesterday morning. shop's owner suffered minor injuries and juliannena's fine jewelry was robbed at the mall. one was armed with a semiautomatic pistol and another used a tire iron to smash jewelry cases. the suspects were last seen speeding north on highway 101 in a black dodge charger with blue paper license plates. zachary row, the

>> welcome back, everybody. 5:20 on this saturday morning. we are looking at a live picture of the golden gate bridge. you can see the fog is definitely there and i can tell you as of two hours ago you needed, i don't know, intermittent wipers to come across. there was some mist coming on to the windshield as that came across, but wide open and overcast. is it going to last? i don't know. but lisa argen does. you've got the overcast on the

bridge probably along the coast? >> a nice run. overcast, is it going to last? >> didn't even know i did it. >> okay. well, you did. and we are looking at a 2200-foot marine layer w that we have a southwesterly wind up by the delta really blowing, up to 33 miles an hour. the cool air being transported into our east bay and parts of the central valley. so yesterday that 93 in fairfield, no, not going to happen today. we've got the influence of a pretty good onshore flow. the doppler radar shows activity in southern california where we've had lightning strikes south toward bakersfield. you will notice the moisture here. we are talking about dry thunderstorms, the possibility throughout the day today. more like tonight in the sierra nevada. we have a disturbance offer the coast to the south and west of us, and plenty of subtropical moisture being pumped up from the south. the elements coming together to allow for an interesting day,

especially south and east of the bay. 60 right now in antioch with 55 in oakland, 57 in san carlos. good morning half moon bay, 52 for you. and with the low clouds and fog we are looking at pretty uniform temperatures and good visibility along the coast for a change. but that burn-off is going to be a little later today due to the deep marine layer and that moderate on show flow. the mist and drizzle a possibility this morning. cloudy with the patchy fog. cooler days for today and tomorrow. but then the warmup begins again and we are talking the possibility of near triple digit heat by, say, thursday and friday of next week. so if you like it cool, we've got it for you this weekend. the numbers steadily come up, beginning monday. so here is the first system. it's an upper level low to the south and west of us. and it is pumping up that moisture from the south. so we had thunderstorms yesterday in the southern syria, southern california, and it's going to move.

within the next 36 hours across the state. as that happens, the possibility of dry lightning and thunderstorms increases from 11:00 tonight through 11:00 tomorrow. so the possibility for lightning strikes and with those strong outflow winds we could see some fires here all the way down toward clear lake. now there's not much moisture associated with these systems so we are talking scant rain, if we see any of these thunderstorms. so here's the way it's going to play out throughout the rest of the day today. notice the green representing the showers and thunderstorms spreading to the north. and this will be more likely overnight tonight into tomorrow but if you are tracking the temperatures, pacifica 57 today. don't look for any clearing there. across the bay, though, it's going to be late clearing and a nice day with 70s there. and you head on inland we are looking at low 90s. but that's out toward brentwood and you will still have a little bit of a breeze out there. really pretty good summertime spread today. if you are headed to the could

>> topping our news this half-hour, in sacramento they have released the results from an audit of more than 500 special funds controlled by state agencies. it was ordered by the governor after last month's $54 million state park dunket scandal. abc7 news capital correspondent nannette miranda look at what the state officials uncurved. >> there are not other hidden assets. >> a sweeping audit of california's 560 special funds ordered by governor jerry brown found that the secret $54 million hidden in the parks department budget for more than a decade was an anomaly. >> this makes it clear that there are no other hidden pots

we've seen thunderstorms overnight from bakersfield south of salinas. and just trace amount of rains reported here with a rumble of thinnedder through the overnight hours. this energy is lift to go the north. not only do we have the subtropical moisture but we have the instability and upper level low that could spark a thunderstorm, helps i to the north of us in the north bay mountains today. then the red flag warning in effect through the overnight hours in the sierra nevada. good morning antioch. it's 60 for you. we have gusty winds out by the delta. 55 with the southwest wind up to 35 miles an hour. 57 in fremont. 53 in san francisco with the cool temperature in santa rosa, 51. so we've got the range around this morning, but by the afternoon our temperatures in a narrow range will call for the patchy fog this morning. a little clearing out there and then a chance of thunderstorms throughout the north bay mountains. this will, the possibility of dry lightning today through tonight but we will look for the

warmup and more unusual summertime weather as soon as we get to, say, the monday time period. so we've got not only this one area of low pressure to the south and west of us, there's another one and that is allowing for that subtropical moisture. plenty of clouds and moisture to be pumped up from the south. here's the moisture. the one ingredient, the energy from the west. those two combine and the possibility exists for the thunderstorms. that's why we have a red flag warning from 11:00 tonight for the sierra nevada through 11:00 tomorrow morning for the possibility of lightning, and we've got the dry fuel out there. plenty of that. and with the strong outflow winds, we could see some of these thunderstorms, if we see them spread fire. so be careful if you are headed to the high country. you will see the thunderstorm activity mainly in the southern sierra, then spreading north. possibility into the north bay mountains. and a temperature spread across the bay today ranging from the upper 50s with no clearing in pacifica and we will look for a
